Jesus - "The truth shall set you free." MacArthur - "You cannot believe the truth when you hear it, you must be set free first! (Calvinism)" One of these is true, one is not.
@DFischer believing and calling on THE NAME OF CHRIST JESUS IS what sets one free . One isn't free until they're born again and indwelled by THE HOLY SPIRIT. The truth of the gospel doesn't do anything for to anyone unless they believe it .
@@dfischer5878 15:24 (time stamp) Do you not realize your own argument denies what MacArthur and the WCF is saying? I.e., that all men are 'preprogramed' to NOT be able to accept truth. The 'truth' of the Gospel cannot set them free..... unless they believe it.... but they can't do that according to Calvinism. It's a catch 22. The Cognitive Dissonance is mind numbing.🤦🏻♂
Leighton man, thanks to you I don't feel crazy anymore. I've been attending a calvinist church where the pastor can't do logical thinking but attempts to carry himself with such authority the congregation kisses his buttocks. The groupthink is so strong I thought there was something profoundly wrong with me to find calvinism a horrible smear against God's character. Now I have the confidence to know it's not me that's crazy. You beautifully articulated all I've been thinking since I read the whole NT for myself as a fresh convert in 2018.
That is often the way it feels - just feeling crazy and alone, and being told that you should feel that things are "good" that are terrible, and you're sinful or an unbeliever if you reject it! Keep going after the Lord, praying for you as you continue in the faith.
@@exysness yea, most importantly, we need to seriously humble self before God Almighty , but when wrong perspectives are driven into our minds, sometimes The Lord uses other teachers to give us another interpretation , may God bless and guide
DW: Calvinists have a thinking pattern which they are eventually conditioned into - which is called *AS-IF* thinking. They assert the doctrine as TRUE - while treating the doctrine *AS-IF* it is FALSE This is why so many Calvinist statements are statements of DOUBLE-SPEAK. And why Calvinist language is a language of DOUBLE-SPEAK
but in this case is worse. Cuz when it comes to the "i was born this way" as an excuse to surrender to worldly sinful temptations, you can say "Even if that's true, you still choose wheater you will yield. A man has a natural 'born this way' drive to have sex with any woman he finds attractive. Does that mean is ok for him to surrender to this will every time it comes?". On calvinism on the other hand the excuse is perfect. Not only people were born haters of God, but from birth, uncapable to do otherwise, and then completely excusing them. How can they be guilty of never saying YES to God when He Himself created them without ever having the capacity to do so? Guilt BY DEFINITION can only happen when the person has the option to do otherwise
@@vitormenezesdemattos967 Uncapable to do otherwise DW: BINGO!!!!! Wonderfully insightful!!! You hit the bulls-eye!! . In Calvinism - every impulse that comes to pass within the human brain - comes to pass by antecedent factors (aka infallible decree) which are totally outside of the human brain's control. Thus in Calvinism - humans are not granted SAY or CHOICE or CONTROL in the matter of anything. The Calvinist is basically nothing more than a walking human body with a brain - into which a stream of infallibly decreed impulses come to pass - by a divine script - which that body and brain has NO SAY and NO CHOICE and NO CONTROL over.
Put Jesus' prayer in John 17 up there, lines up perfectly with 1 Timothy 2:4. That chapter alone refutes the idea that not all can believe or faith is withheld from most people considering what Jesus says concerning the world.
DW: It is insightful to realize that one of the components unique to Calvinism is DUALISM in which many things appear in the form of Antithetical "Good-Evil" pairs. Calvin's god creates the vast majority of his creatures specifically for eternal torment in a lake of fire. Calvin's god creates a FEW of his creatures for something other than eternal torment. Calvin's god has two wills An ENUNCIATED will - and a SECRET will Calvin's god has two kinds of love The kind of love that creates people specifically for eternal torment - and the kind of love which creates them for something else. Calvin's god has two wills for ALL MEN He wills ALL MEN saved - and - wills ALL MEN damned This is the DUALISTIC "Good-Evil" component within Calvinism. Good and Evil are "Co-Equal", "Co-Necessary", and "Co-Complimentary" Calvin's god decrees all evil - and everything Calvin's god decrees is good - therefore evil is good.
"God decrees that you all are going to hell in an eternal conscious torment, for his glory! And he's going to enjoy every second of it! For his glory!" "How is it our fault that we are damned to hell if God pre-programmed us to reject the only means of salvation in the first place?" "It is a mystery! WHO ARE YOU O MAN TO QUESTION GOD!?" ..... Now THAT is how you evangelize.
How do you not see that Gods sovereignty and man’s responsibility are two parallel truths? Gods saves sinners ( by His own plan) Man is responsible for rejecting that plan…. I can not save myself. Do you thank God for your salvation? Do you pray for your loved ones to be saved or to save themselves?
The heretical part of calvinism, when thought through critically and right, is that most people reject Jesus and God Himself decrees all things including those "pre-programmed" people going to hellfire, so... who's fault is it that they go to hell? God's fault in calvinism!!! That is one heretical, blasphemous statement to make. Jesus died for all of people's sins and people have a choice to by faith accept Jesus's sacrifice for their sins or then reject truth of Gospel in Christ
WHY IS THIS TEACHING NOT CALLED OUT FOR WHAT IT IS??? DOCTRINES OF DEMONS...SO LET THEM BE ACCURSED!! MOST PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS ARE COWARDS.
It seems to me that the Gospel message that the Calvinists proclaims to the lost is that Jesus died for the world and if you will believe on him you will be saved is correct. However, what they leave out and do not tell the sinner are the dirty details of their doctrine teaches about who can respond, how and why they respond. Their doctrine is bad, but bad doctrine is technically different than the message of Gospel itself.... They are deceptive, kind of like a cult in that way. But people can hear the message of the Gospel from a Calvinist's lips and believe it and be saved. If they stick around... they will become confused about 'how' it happened... but it still happened. If they stick around long enough they can develops doubts of whether or not it happened... but it still did. The doctrine plants the seed of doubt that God might not love you ....personally because he is said to only/salvifically/truly love the 'elect' as they define them... the problem is nobody can ever know if they were really picked and if they will receive the 'Gift of Perseverance' or not. So... they're just hoping for the best. They do not doubt that Christ raised from the dead... but they do not know 'why' they believe it and they have no assurance they will be able to continue to believe that in the future. Because evanescent grace is always lurking about. Satan designed it to undermine the believer's relationship with the father while on earth. Even Dr. Sproul is no longer a Calvinist.😊 In their witnessing they are only running around hoping to get lucky and run into someone God has already 'elected to be' saved. It begs the question why Paul spent so much time with Agrippa and others. Paul wasn't a very good Calvinist🤔🤔
@@chrislucastheprotestantview Thanks, there are some on both sides of the aisle concerning this subject who deny salvation to the other side. They should not, IMO. ..Most Calvinists were believers in Christ before they became convinced of Calvinism. Usually, by another Calvinist more skilled at arguing their prooftexts than the other person was at getting them back in proper context. This is true even of R.C. Sproul whose college professor injected him with Calvinist books and arguments as a young man. And also true of John Piper, who says he cried for days struggling to accept the implication of the so-called "Doctrines of Grace".. Funny... that doesn't sound like a normal reaction to hearing Good News to me.🤔
People like MacArthur are the reason people won't hear the gospel. Add writing his own bible and it's obvious which team he is batting for...NOT our Heavenly Father. Thank you for the truth. God Bless
I don't understand why MacArthur continues to preach when he believes the, "reprobates' " eyes and ears are closed. I am in awe of your love and grace towards those who are leading ppl astray by their erroneous teaching. My prayer is that those who follow MacArthur, Piper, Sproul, etc. will turn away and with an open heart listen to you and believe and trust in the true gospel of Jesus Christ--that we can all be saved by His grace. Thank you again Dr. Flowers.
I don't necessarily think macarthur and Sproul are leading people astray. I don't care for piper enough to have an opinion lol I just think the theology is skewed. In the grand scheme of things I think they have done quite a bit for alot of people in teaching the bible and teaching Christ. I'm one of them...but I'm def not Calvinist. Idk that's just my opinion. There's many Sproul and macarthur books that have nothing to do with calvinism
@illadvized7623 I understand what you are saying. I actually watch Sproul when he's talking about things other than soteriology. I guess I should have been clearer...I meant when they talk about salvation. Blessings!
Thank you for helping learn about Calvinism as I was a Roman Catholic. Today I follow my KJB and really disliked people asking "Are you Calvinist or Armenian?" I am neither, I am a Christian and love your channel. *_God Bless_*
I believe your right. Ironically the passage he’s reading about how callous the Pharisees are to the truth is similar to how these pastors are callous to the truth of who God is; seeing but not perceiving, hearing but never understanding.
DW: This also serves as a red-flag that the Calvinist actually does not believe in his own doctrine. If they TRULY believed in their doctrine they would not assume they are elect because it is Calvinism's divine potter of Romans 9 good pleasure to create them as CHAFF whenever doing so serves his good pleasure. Calvin's god glorifies himself by creating believers as CHAFF and sending them to the lake of fire for his good pleasure. So if they really believed their doctrine and cared about their god's glory - they would not be fighting against it.
@Lion of Judah Consider this; Elite (noun): "A select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society". I don't think you will find most Calvinists believing that they are elite according to that definition. Elect and Elite are not synonymous, regardless the base etymology. If we take your statement "I've never met a Calvinist who didn't believe they weren't one of God's elect" entirely in the positive, we get "I do meet Calvinists who believe they are one of God's elect". That re-statement seems applicably normal to both sides of the camp because they both fulfill the requirement of believing, as everyone who believes in God and his redemptive plan also believe they are one of God's elect. Calvinists and non-Calvinists alike. It is God's deeper mechanism of how we come to believe that is at question and furthermore what it means to be "elect". Logically then, it's not believing they are part of God's elite that is a "certain elitism" because both sides share that belief. We must look elsewhere.
@@buddy_132 Isn't he pulpit preaching of Christians vs. Non-Christians? Believers vs. Non-Believers? I didn't take the time to ferret out the entire video to watch it, but I'll assume, for discussion, that he wasn't directing his sermon on Calvinists vs. Non-Calvinistic believers. I think that's fair. Extrapolating further out seems to be reading into bias.
@@SpaceCadet4Jesus Of course. That’s why I said it’s similar for the pastors of Calvinism. Seeing and retaining so much knowledge of Gods words but to be so blind to who God is? The Pharisees had that much in common with them.
Merciless from Macman. Thank God HE isn’t of the devil, lest he feel the pain of his own message. Imagine being scared and worried about your own failure, etc and hearing this message thinking “oh no I’m a child of the devil” , those poor souls don’t realize God is welcoming all into His family through trusting His Son as their savior.
I find this to be such irony! I pray with fervency that Pastor John will find His way back to Joy. This is the same old deceiving spirit that 1 John warned us about. Different packaging but just as loveless. Let’s love Pastor John and pray for him and his congregation. Father forgive them and help them to understand your love so their joy will be full! In Jesus Name! Thank you Leighton! Appreciate your kindness toward all!
Thank you Leighton. Your heart in this issue is good. And your ability to walk through the argument and exemplify the errors, is edifying to the church body. Because of errors like this, I cannot accept Calvinism as proper theology. Consistent Calvinism collapses in its own conflicting inconsistency.
He teaches a lot of other wrong things too. I grew up in a church that worshiped him. The pastor came from GCC. It’s amazing when I left that church and just read and read and prayed sooooo many things became clear and I too wonder why he’s worshiped..
Could the reprobate not also say "I only do what I do the way The Father desires me to do it?" Edit: My point was to show how strange it is for the reprobate to be able to say the same thing as Jesus on such an important statement by Jesus.
@Jefe KC I believe Jack was referring to the idea that because calvinist claim that GOD has preprogrammed people from birth to be unable to hear the truth . So therfore the reprobate is doing what THE FATHER has sent them to do .
On Calvinism, yes. That statement would be accurate. Although, thankfully, most Calvinists, if they believe in Christ, would never agree that they should say such a thing.
Very good brother Leighton. GOD bless you brother. Ps.. I hope you're able to hear this with you not being a calvinist and all . I hope you're not unable to hear because it was spoken in truth .
Anyone ever notice how dead the conferences and church services are who are Calvinistic? I have never heard a shout or seen joy on the faces of the ppl who go there. Not saying all, but the ones I've seen
I don’t blame them. That’s a very depressing world view. You have no power to reach the lost or make any difference. Your constantly trying to prove yourself Gods elect while any lost family or friends may be forever damned to hell simply for “Gods glory” and don’t you dare question it, it’s a mystery. Extremely depressing.
AMAZED ! how can any calvinist, who after hearing LF in this video, still remain a calvinist ?!! the logic is irrefutable. my possible answers: 1) pride 2) group think 3) demonic deception what say you?
How? By practicing mental gymnastics so that they don't have to feel the pain of humility when they let God show them that they swallowed a wind of false doctrine that carried them away from the truth unto another gospel...= Pride, group think, and demonic deception.
,. It boggles my mind that people think this man is a great theologian and intellectual Christian thinker. Not saying he hasn't come out with some good sermons that are truthful in context, but the more I hear him speak the more I believe that he actually denies the real Gospel and is as head first into deception as those he criticises. Thank you Leighton.
Great job, Brother Leighton. Jesus actually explained this to his disciples: he spoke in parables to conceal who he was so that some of them would seek to have him crucified. He still had to explain the parables to his disciples, and… some of the pharisees did believe and followed him.
DW: Excellent point! And when one really scrutinizes Calvinism's TULIP one finds - it is strategically designed to obfuscate Calvinism's foundational underlying doctrine - of decrees. Take the "T" in Calvinism's TULIP for example - it is designed to function as a lie of omission. A lie of omission is communication designed to mislead - by omitting critical facts - which if not omitted would not mislead. The critical fact which the "T" strategically omits is the fact that per the underlying doctrine - the state of nature - including every man's nature - at every nano-second in time - is 100% predestined - and at any nano-second in time - cannot possibly be other than what it was decreed infallibly be. The Calvinist uses the "T" in his TULIP to falsely attribute man's abilities/disabilities to the state of man's nature. And also to attribute man's eternal destiny to the state of man's nature. When the TRUTH is - an infallible decree meticulously determines what the state of man's nature will be - at every nano-second in time - as well as man's eternal destiny. And these are determined before man is created. So the "T" in Calvinism's TULIP is used as a marketing tool to mislead people by obfuscating an aspect of the doctrine which the Calvinist knows the average Bible reader will reject.
Evil men wax worse and worse...deceiving and being deceived...turning unto fables. That's what they get for forgetting to PUT ON the full armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Any chance Macarthur would be the modern day equivalent of the pharisees that Jesus was talking to in the passage Macarthur was ironically studying? Dr. Flowers, you show a lot of grace. I don't know how you are so graceful. I feel nothing but animosity towards the Calvanist. But I am like that as a response to being in the calvanistic system for years, and seeing that their rhetoric does nothing but prop up their own pride and self-importance while condemning and gaslighting everyone else. If the tactics of Calvanism were brought from the theological into the context of a romantic/marital relationship, it'd be physical and emotional abuse. Do I need to repent of how I feel? Absolutely. However, I need supernatural help from the Lord for my heart to change, because just confessing that I feel sinful things towards Calvanism doesn't change those feelings. I'll be doing nothing but confessing til the day I die, and even then, probably be thrown into the fire as a goat and not a sheep because I never actually changed.
Sad but necessary. This doctrine blasphemes God making him the author of evil. They preach a different gospel saying Jesus didn’t die for everybody. They gave more reasons for atheists to hate God and see Christian’s as blind and dumb. God only knows how many left the faith or refused to believe entirely due to their misrepresentation of God.
Indeed, they will be surprised when they eventually learn that they became Calvinists because they willingly SWALLOWED the wind of false doctrine which carried them away from the truth. It's our service to persuade them to PURGE the false doctrine so they can be profitable members of the body. They think that we argue with them because we want to be right, but it is in love that we argue with them so that they might be right.
It really tests the patience when you go through with a Calvinist step by step how their doctrine makes God the commander of sin and evil, yet they just run back to “WHO ARE YOU TO QUESTION GOD”. Certainly operates like a cult with playing word games and not wanting you to question or take things to their logical conclusion.
i wonder if they ever have an unsaved loved one that died like that... and wondering why God CHOSE not to save that person.... imagine if i went to that person and said that very thing. She would be furious and rightfully so. And that is the very context in wich they say this to us
@@vitormenezesdemattos967 Yup! Even worse when you have kids and thinking ‘God may not want to save my baby girl’. How they can call a God that operates like that good will always be a mystery to me.
I myself have an immensely dear friend of mine that i know, and those who know me know that to, that i would die for him, specially with him being an unbeliever. It would not be a hard choice, i'd go to heaven and he would go to hell. I often imagine that if by me giving my life for him, it would lead him to Jesus, I'd do it today. But if he dies an unbeliever, i already loved him more than Jesus did according to the T of tulip. Jesus didn't even die for him.... but i would without a second thought. What would that make me according to the person i mentioned to you in my last comment? I'd be more loving than God. This is why i believe that God DOES want all to be saved (the bible itself says it), and Jesus did die for all. Is people's rejection of God that make them depraved, not God rejecting them and then casting them in Hell for something that He himself created them uncapable of not doing.
DW; The way they do that is to re-write verses in their minds while they are reading them. The Calvinist brain is conditioned to MENTALLY re-write verses in order to ensure they say what the Calvinist needs them to say.
Where does this fit into Calvinism: (1Chr 28:9) And thou, Solomon my son, *_know thou the God of thy father,_* and serve him with a perfect heart *_and with a willing mind:_* for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: *_if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever._*
DW: There are many scriptures which stand in stark contradiction to Calvinism's system of divine determinism. This would be one of them. "If thou seek" is a subjunctive conditional - which stands in contradiction to Calvinism's view of divine sovereignty in which everything is already 100% meticulously pre-programmed and cannot possibly be other than what it was decreed to be. The Calvinist however - cannot accept the possibility that his doctrine is in contradiction to scripture. So he will twist language and logic into an elaborate pretzel in order to make those scriptures *APPEAR* to fit.
DW: Per the doctrine - they are granted NO CERTAINTY of their election because the doctrine strictly stipulates that knowledge as a DIVINE SECRET which only Calvin's god knows. Secondly - Calvin's god creates a large percentage of believers - specifically to be CHAFF And the CHAFF he divinely deceives - giving them a FALSE SENSE of salvation. If a human brain is given FALSE PERCEPTIONS by infallible decree - it follows - it is impossible for that brain to discern those perceptions as FALSE Thirdly - in Calvinism - all of the promises within scripture are classified as the ENUNCIATED will of Calvin's god - which in most cases is the exact opposite of his SECRET will. So when the Calvinist reads "You are beloved" within scripture - he has no way of knowing if that is the ENUNCIATED will of Calvin's god - and the SECRET will of Calvin's god is the exact opposite. Calvinists cannot emotionally bear the burden of those parts of the doctrine So they simply go about their office *AS-IF* they are elect in order to retain emotional stability.
A Calvinist can know if they are saved by looking at their life. True saving faith brings about life transformation. Loving God, loving God’s people, hating sin, feeling Godly Sorrow, and the testimony of the Spirt all point to their election being true.
Wow, wow, wow! So many exegetical whoppers by Johnnie Mac in so short a time. Unbelievable. This was a dense download, Leighton…which my mind was Calvinistically pre-programmed to receive! 😂
Great look at how MacArthur clearly tries to make it look as if, this doctrine harmonizes God’s Word.. very bizarre when he says you are preprogrammed and people trust that.. Hmm truth doesn't set you free maybe he's trying to be free by holding onto "the doctrines of grace" instead of Jesus alone!! Also God allows the foolishness of the cross to be a stumbling block for those who don't believe, because they actually could trust Him, but to me it doesn't seem they're trusting in Him and the simplicity that is in Christ. -Reminds me of where Jesus said to the Sadducees; Matthew 22:29 NKJV - Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. Romans 1:16 NKJV - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Thank you for your gracious response, but also for pushing back🌻
Every time I see someone being hardened in the scriptures, it is in response to them rejecting God. From Cain to pharaoh in Exodus to the Pharisees in Jesus’ time they hardened themselves before being hardened by God.
I have heard this sermon and when he got to the part of the Pharisees rejecting the Gospel and saying they were preprogrammed to reject the Gospel I immediately stop listening. I never been a Calvinist and never will be. Like John Lennox simply said on this subject “We are not robots or puppets with God pulling the strings”. I was wondering when somebody would comment on this sermon.
Context, context, context John. Who is speaking, to whom are they speaking and what is the Context? You have confused the gospel for many years sir. Listen to Leighton. I pray for your eyes to be opened.
you know.. the blame-worthiness is a legit concern but their doctrine is literally demonic in their denial of God's love... I have been on twitter for about 3-4 weeks now and the real problem is the anti-gospel these people spread. It is WICKED. I am GRIEVED to see what these people believe! I weep at the prospect of one of these Calvinists coming across a vulnerable person who recognizes the helplessness of their condition, perhaps their slavery to the fear of death, someone who could be saved by hearing the TRUE gospel and beautiful hope we have in Jesus who saves us....bc the Calvinist LITERALLY have a ministry to INFORM the world that God does not love everyone,! This lie would push a vulnerable person into despair with their false representation of the salvation & love of Jesus. I have a brother in his late 30s, he is fragile... he needs to hear another Christian speak the TRUE gospel, as a TRUE ambassadors for Christ, as though God did B E G (my brother) in Christ's stead, "be ye reconciled to God"... but if my brother reads any of their false arguments on line... it would/could EASILY unravel the gospel... it is not just a "false doctrine" it is legitimately ANTI-christ.
They are deceived. They also believe those that disagree with them do it because God’s message is hated and therefore they expect to be hated, we need good strategy to extricate those captive to Calvinism. Generally getting people to walk through their own testimony helps, but they’ll have to identify times of being convinced of the veracity of the gospel (pistis/faith) and see that is not separate from their supposed rebirth, therefore we can appeal to the LOGOS/Logic/Reality (Jesus) of the situation, as opposed to the mystic subconscious brain click they believe God does for some.
Here is a short quote from John Wesley: " God knows that man sins; for He knows all things: Yet we do not sin because He knows it, but He knows it because we sin; and His knowledge supposes our sin, but does not in anywise cause it".
In Jeremiah 50, it seems God is rebuking the Chaldeans for holding a Calvinistic interpretation of the time God called Nebuchadnezzar his « servant » doing his plan to punish Israel.
Dear Leighton we all lost our free will in Adam. We all dead to God which is why we need to be born again. We cannot come to Christ unless we're regenerated. We love him because he first loved us. Ex Arminian Calvinist.
They take away the blameworthiness of the unbeliever but they also take away the blameworthiness of themselves, that being “elect” makes them right and good without truly testing if they are right and good. They make a doctrine that makes unbelievers a victim to a cruel God and they don't discern that this doctrine is evil because they are so ok with. Why? Because it grants them "favoritism" with God.
People that want to remain in their sin refuse the truth because they will not repent. We are told throughout the gospels that these Jews opposing Jesus were protecting their own status, traditions and sinful lives. That is why they rejected John's baptism and the will of God for their lives. John 3:19-21 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
No offense intended to anyone who believes otherwise, although this answer is offensive, logic is never considered in any of the tenets of Calvinism. They believe what they believe, regardless of the logical and unreasonable inconsistencies.
This kind of thinking from MacArthur and other similarly thinking calvinists makes people double-minded. Why? Calvinists most often say God would want all to be saved yet.. He decrees the non-elect to perish, so... He on some level, mysterious ways, does not really want the non-elect to be saved. They are born without Jesus's sacrifice for their sins. I mean, this is so simple. God wants ALL people to be saved in Christ Jesus from hellfire and have an everlasting life. God OFFERS that to all, but people have an actual, libertarian free will to place their heart's faith in Christ Jesus to be saved from hell and have everlasting life. It makes all kinds of sense why God remains in His love patient for all to turn to His Son and be saved. He does not decree people's unwillingness to come to His Son. If He did He would contradict His own self. I have seen some smart atheists online who are really good at logic. Some have said that if calvinism is true and they are not the elect then... they have NO hope, ever. They are only born to in eternity glorify God in hellfire in condemnation as calvinists say. What a horrible, horrible lies calvinists say.
Pre-programmed to reject the Gospel? Not according to the parable; "And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts." "And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended." "And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful." . . "And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
So, in your understanding of natural state of man, without original sin, it is possible that a person could exist without sin and therefore could attain heaven on their own merit, correct?
It boils down to this: Are you saved by Faith, or are you saved by Election. If you are saved strictly by Election, then you have lost the Gospel. McArthur is misrepresenting Calvinism. Hyper Calvinism is what he is putting forth.
Jesus said that "they cannot hear my word," not because they were exceptional sinners in some special state, as contended here, but because they do not have the spirit (mind) to hear and believe. Rom 8:5-8 "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. (6) For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; (7) because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be. (8) Those who are in the flesh can't please God." Those who are carnally minded are hostile to God because their spirit is dead to good works, desiring only its own will to be done. There are only two possible states of a person's spirit: either they walk according to the Spirit or according to the flesh. The carnally minded are NOT in Christ Jesus, are NOT able to hear the gospel and believe because they are in bondage to sin. Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. The spirit of those living according to the Spirit is enabled to be faithful and walk according to God's precepts by the power of God's indwelling Spirit, which means the fruits of the Spirit are present in those walking with God. The fruit of those with a living spirit is actively receiving the Truth, all things that are good, because they are the children of Light. Opposed to God is the other category, those carnally minded who live according to the flesh, having a spirit in bondage to sin and in rebellion against the precepts of God and exist in spiritual darkness. Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. Rom_8:15 For you didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" Eph 5:8-10 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, (9) for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, (10) proving what is well pleasing to the Lord. Now, if someone is in spiritual darkness, serving the desires of the flesh, will they seek God? Obviously not! Not wishing to be exposed to the Light, they hide in the darkness. Joh_3:19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. 1Th_5:5 You are all children of light and children of the day. We don't belong to the night nor to darkness. God has described two groups of people: One is in the Light, adopted into God's family and made joint heirs with Christ, receiving the Holy Spirit and enabled to have the mind of Christ. The other group is in rebellion, walking according to their spiritually darkened mind, unable to receive the things of God. The Gospel of Christ is foolishness to them, and they cannot spiritually receive it, for they are hostile toward it. This is not a special state that only some people enter into, but the rebel state of fallen humanity. 1Co_1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved, it is the power of God. 1Pe_2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Knowing then that (Psa_58:3) "The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born, speaking lies" so that clearly the wicked are the group that is carnally minded, in opposition to God, and not the group that belongs to Christ, the question is how does one exit the darkness into the light? How does one become one given "ears to hear" and believe the Gospel? The answer is that God makes the dead alive because He has chosen to show mercy to those He loves. Eph 2:1-3 You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, (2) in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; (3) among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. The first group of disobedient people are the children of wrath, which, apart from Christ, the second group (those to be redeemed) are initially joined, seemingly also destined for destruction. But God calls out His people from the mass of the world and raises them up, in similitude to the dead Lazarus; their spirit is made able to function and be active toward God by regeneration. The deadness is removed, and a new spirit is born from above, granted newness of life, operating not in this world of carnality but set in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, (5) even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) This is why the Pharisees could not believe in Jesus; their hearts (spirit) was hardened by sin, the same sin that hardened everyone who walks according to the flesh. Again, everyone is born (apart from those saved in the womb) in rebellion against God, believing lies and speaking lies. Who programmed the lost to be that way? Is anyone forcing the wicked to do wickedly? Well, God is not making anyone sin, and we should know this to be the case without hesitation. But it is our own selves that, apart from God's Spirit, keep us from unrestrained sin and deny us our true evil intent lest we should become like Nebuchadnezzar, eating grass like an animal or a madman in the cemetery of the dead. So, God is not to blame. He keeps the wicked from their folly for His own purposes. Jas 1:13-15 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. (14) But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. (15) Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. The "programming" McArthur is alluding to is the human condition, desiring to rule as gods, apart from God. That spirit of rebellion was found in Adam and Eve as soon as the law forbidding one thing was commanded of them, their spirit lusted, enticed, and conceived of rebellion, to be like God, and it brought forth spiritual death to them and their offspring. Everyone born of woman is infected with that same carnal mind of Adam and Eve, born with a love of self, a desire to serve themselves, to glorify themself, to hate God. Job 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? Psa 14:2-3 Yahweh looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who did understand, who did seek after God. (3) They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is none who does good, no, not one. This is not a special state of being, somehow only for really sinful people, while somehow the rest of humanity is free of sin's bondage and can seek God, understand, turn back toward God and walk in obedience, and somehow become profitable doing good. That is some people's belief, but that is not God's assessment of the state of humanity. Rom 3:10-18 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one. (11) There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God. (12) They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, no, not, so much as one." (13) "Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues, they have used deceit." "The poison of vipers is under their lips;" (14). "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness." (15) "Their feet are swift to shed blood. (16) Destruction and misery are in their ways. (17) The way of peace, they haven't known." (18) "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Further . .. Who programmed us to be wicked? We did! Each and every one of us. No, God designed man (men and women) to be upright, and so it was that Adam and Eve were initially perfect. But WE chose to disobey because WE chose to follow our lusts. The same carnally minded lusts that every person desires to walk in. Did Adam and Eve, having rebelled, run to God and seek forgiveness? Neither does anyone throughout history ever seek after God but hides in the darkness and likewise, symbolically clothes themselves with makeshift righteousness (fig leaf) not provided by God (and therefore useless for salvation). Then, since God must act to alter the course of the wicked, or else we being wicked will continue to the bitter end, which is death (eternally), God does act to deliver His people out of the power of darkness that binds them to sin. Not only saving His people whom He has chosen to life but translating them out of the kingdom of Satan into the Kingdom of Christ, removing His people from the group that hates God and walks according to the flesh into the group that loves God (because He first loved them) and are made heirs of the Kingdom in Christ, walking by the Spirit. Col 1:12-14 giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; (13) who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; (14) in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins; Why, again, did the Pharisees and Sadducees not believe Jesus and could not receive His word? Because it has to be given to them by God to believe! As Jesus said, "He who is able to receive it, let him receive it." Who receives the truth? Those "able" to receive it. Able because God has made their spirit able to receive the truth. Mat_19:11 But he said to them, "Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given. And who is able to receive the truth? Those that rejoice in the truth, who have the love of God in them, will believe all things related to God. The unrighteous oppose God and therefore oppose the truth, suppressing it. That is the fallen nature of all men (man and woman). We all inherit the cursed state, but Christ has overcome the world. 1Co 13:5-7 Love is patient . . . doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; (6) doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; (7) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Rom_1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. To think that people are somehow unaffected by the Fall, that we can drum up our goodness and choose to believe, is folly and wickedness out of the mind of fallen man. To deny the rebel state of man is to deny Scripture but also to deny the necessity of the power of God in salvation. The point of Jesus' miracles was not just to demonstrate He was God, but they were metaphors for the spiritual state of all mankind (not just a few special people). We are all unable to hear, unable to see, blind to spiritual things, filthy in our sins (like a leper), and headed to death under the condemnation of God. Lepers don't cleanse themselves. The blind, deaf, and lame must be healed by God before they can hear, see, and obey. We don't walk after God until God has healed our lameness; then, we are enabled by God's Spirit to walk in obedience. This will make sense to you if God has granted you ears and eyes to hear and see, else it is foolishness to you. Mat 11:4-5 Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: (5) the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. Mat 11:15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Perfect question! "Are we pre-programmed to reject the gospel?" The answer is absolutely NOT. The fathers of Israel who turned their backs to God and bowed their knees to Baal are the ones that programmed their children to reject the gospel by programming them to believe that Baal's voice is the voice of God...Jesus clearly doesn't have the same voice as Baal, hence they refused to follow Him and accused him of blasphemy, and God let them for the good of all, even them. They (Israel) could not receive the truth at that time because God was leaving them in the condition they were in knowing they would cry crucify...had they known they would not have crucified Him....why is this so difficult to understand? Ugh. JUST HEAR IT: "If God were your Father you would love me" Do you hear it? God was NOT their Father, Baal was their father because their forefathers led them astray....it took generations to get in the condition they became...God was patient and came at the perfect time which was when Israel was so far from the truth that He knew they would reject it standing in front of them. Dang Calvinism is making a mess in God's house, and it needs to be wiped out and the only way to wipe it out is for our brothers and sisters to stop SWALLOWING it.
@@TheMirabillis According to the word of God, it's because one person has found pleasure in unrighteousness and the other is searching for the way out of unrighteousness because they are zealous of good works. Desire to come to Jesus is not the matter at hand. The word of God says that the person who hears and learns of the Father wiill come to the Son because they have the same voice. There are a lot of idols/false gods to hear and learn of but they don't have the same voice as the Father. It's not until a person turns from idols and learns of the Father that they will come to Jesus. It's just that simple
@@KISStheSON... I asked you the question because it is a question that the majority of Christians don’t ask. Most Christians who are non Calvinist think that we have the free will to come to Jesus and end of story. However, no one wilfully gets in a relationship with anyone else unless they first have a want or a desire to get to know that person and be in a relationship with that person. I don’t know of any Christian that has come to Christ without first wanting or desiring to come to Christ. Not everyone has the want or desire to come to Christ. The Calvinist will say that God has regenerated the person and because of that regeneration, the person now has the want or desire to come to Christ. Non Calvinists just cannot answer the question. They just don’t know why one person has the want or desire to come to Christ and another person doesn’t. While I am not a Calvinist, I see all non Calvinist positions just lacking in answers to questions they can’t just answer ( like how does a person get a want or a desire to come to Christ ). Believe it or not, non Calvinist positions just end up with the same results as Calvinism does. The Bible logically leads to Calvinism.
@@TheMirabillis "no one wilfully gets in a relationship with anyone else unless they first have a want or a desire to get to know that person and be in a relationship with that person." Really? You have never fallen in love with someone unexpectedly after getting to know them? Personally, I have developed relationships with people that I have heard horrible things about, therefore I went into the relationship thinking this person is going to be a monster only to be pleasantly surprised that it was quite the opposite, and as a matter of fact, it was the other person that made painted the person to be a monster who was actually the monster. The bible logically leads us to know and understand that God is not the monster that people make Him out to be which makes us fall in love with him and put our trust in Him which is not Calvinism. "how does a person get a want or a desire to come to Christ" I told you...BY LEARNING OF THE FATHER and the only way to learn of the Father is by giving our ears to teachers that teach of Him. If our teachers are false teachers and they teach of a false God we will be "ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" but if we give our ears to a variety of teachers we will then be able to come to the knowledge of the truth That is not the same result as Calvinism. Nope! Do you hear me? I am saying, only the person that is learning of the Father will get the desire to come to Christ...a person that is learning of a false god created by religious traditions will not have the desire to come to Christ because Christ will be an offense to them. A religious person will first have to be willing to hear and learn that their religion is a bunch of wasted time and energy aka "dung". Get it yet?
@@KISStheSON... You wrote, \\ You have never fallen in love with someone unexpectedly after getting to know them? Personally, I have developed relationships with people that I have heard horrible things about, therefore I went into the relationship thinking this person is going to be a monster only to be pleasantly surprised that it was quite the opposite \\ If you think about it, you wanted to be in a relationship with those People. There was a desire for you to speak to them and see them, and enter into a relationship with them. Want and desire was very much present. You wrote, \\ I told you...BY LEARNING OF THE FATHER and the only way to learn of the Father is by giving our ears to teachers that teach of Him. \\ Want and Desire is also here because a Person has to want and desire to hear from God ( The Father ). Not everyone wants and desires to believe in God nor to know Him nor to hear from Him. How does a Person get a want or desire to come to God and know Him ? If you believe that God is Omniscient ( All Knowing ), then God knew before Creation ‘exactly’ who would exist and who would end up in Heaven and who would end up in Hell. God chose or elected who would exist and He knew before he chose or elected them whether they would end up in Heaven or Hell. Because God is 'All Knowing', then He can’t be wrong. This is Predestination ( just as Calvinism is ). No one can change their destiny once they are born because if they did change their destiny, then God would be wrong in His knowledge of that Person ( which is impossible ). If you are disagreeing at this point, then why did God create the ‘exact’ People whom He knew would end up in Hell ? All Biblical and Theological Positions where God is ‘All Knowing’, logically lead to Predestination and Determinism ( just the same as Calvinism ).
John 8:31 begins with those Jews who believe Jesus. Then they talk about being the sons of Abraham, and Jesus then going on to say they cannot believe or hear because they are hardened from birth? No way, doesn't follow since they already believe, and are now told they cannot believe. Yet if they are elect, they can believe but if they were not elect, they cannot believe in the first place and Jesus' words are telling the elect that the elect cannot hear because they are incapable. If they are indeed non elect, then how can they believe Jesus in the first place, seeing as, under Calvinism, a person is incapable of believing God unless they are regenerated? If they are elect, why are they, not another group, they, the believers, are being told they cannot believe because they are hardened? Doesn't follow at all and becomes an big issue. A bad hermeneutic. The only way out is by becoming hardened and then hearing the truth, which leads to them being set free from hardness.
It’s funny because when Jesus says, “you CANNOT HEAR,” it’s not about the self-hardened audience’s inability to grasp what He says. “Hearing” in the Hebraic mindset is in accordance with the concept of “shema,” which includes a performance aspect. Self-hardened people do not do or perform according to what God says. That’s why Jesus characterizes them as those who “cannot” adhere to what He encourages. In other words, a defiant person cannot be obedient until said person recognizes their defiance and changes their mind about it in order to do the opposite. That’s shema, and this audience could not shema in such a mindset.
Excellent observation. Shema from what I understand is to: hear AND perceive AND perform. In English it’s like when you want your kids to LISTEN to you (parent), you don’t just mean you want it to vibrate their ear drum but to hear understand and DO what you’ve said.
@@stove2717 Right! I think it’s pretty safe to say that when Jesus (who is God) talks about listening in any language, the context is consistent with shema.
Vs.31 is interesting. Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine --- to those Jews who had believed Him. This isn't just the natural condition of man, these are traitors.
Calvinism is the most depressing world view I’ve ever heard. You have no power to reach the lost or make any difference. Your constantly trying to prove yourself Gods elect while any lost family or friends may be forever damned to hell simply for “Gods glory” and don’t you dare question it, it’s a mystery. Extremely depressing.
But no matter who follows Satan. The first impulse of Satans evil, comes from God. On what planet can that be true. And how is it mechanically possible for God to be willing Satan's evil, and then carry that out by the Holy Spirit.
@@BouncySlim1 I think you'll find that God creates calamity for those who are evil. That would be very different from his heart containing evil motivation, and the Holy Spirit " doing " blasphemy of the Spirit by his work. Yup, Jesus whipping in the temple doesn't prove he is the author of the evil he punishes by calamity
If we are "pre programmed" to reject the Gospel then all of the "if-then" statements scattered throughout all of scripture regarding blessings, curses, salvation, heart hardening make absolutely 0 sense. All of them should have been directed to God, not man.
You said “they” have closed their eyes at 12:05…but the scripture says HE (God) has closed their eyes. Moses said God did not give Israel an ear or heart to perceive… Deuteronomy 29:4 “Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.” Isaiah and John said that God has shut their eyes… Isaiah 44:18 “They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.” John 12:39-40 39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them Isaiah says God MADE Israel disobedient and HARDENED their heart… Isaiah 63:17 17 O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. Jeremiah said that Israel CANNOT hearken (listen with intent to do)… Jeremiah 6:10 “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.” Jesus said that the world CANNOT receive the truth… John 14:17-19 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: Paul said that the carnal man cannot receive the things of the spirit;they are foolishness to him… 1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Paul says that only the elect of Israel obtained salvation and the rest were BLINDED… Romans 11:7-8 7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. Paul says that God has blinded the minds of those who do not believe the gospel… 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Isaiah 63:17 Perhaps you could read the context. The person speaking , from his perspective was that the Lord caused disobedience. Even if true, the chapter is about God bringing wrath down upon them >for disobediencewhole< passage is saying. Proof texting is like going to a Chinese buffet and sampling only one dish and later saying "that restaurant sucks." when in reality you're just uninformed.
In Acts 28:26-28 it says they closed their eyes. As judgement against their rebellion God may blind choose to blind them from the truth (judicial hardening) as is discussed regularly on this broadcast.
@@shredhed572 I didn’t take anything out of context. You’re saying because God called them to repent and they didn’t, that he hardened their heart, but the scripture says from the beginning that Israel was not given a heart to perceive. They were given an uncircumcised heart. The only people of Israel who were saved in the Old Testament were the elect and the rest were blinded, so says the scripture. Do you also believe that God hardened pharaohs heart because pharoah would not let Israel go? It was God’s will to destroy pharaoh to make his power known. Pharoah never had a choice to let Israel go…God would not let him. Nor did Pontus Pilate, or Judas ever have a choice to let Christ go. Nor did Israel ever have a chance to keep Gods word(or any man for that matter)otherwise salvation would have been of man, and there would be no need for the messiah.
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4:4 It’s so sad when Calvinist blame it on the Lord what the bible strictly says it is the work of the devil. It’s wicked…
Calvinism isn't the gospel friend . Actually Calvinism teaches a false gospel because it ties its limited atonement to it . Also, Calvinism when held in contrast to scripture is blasphemous as it corruptly portrays THE CHARACTER OF GOD that has been revealed to us in scripture , portraying HIM to be a hypocrite that breaks HIS OWN rules and laws , which HE has never done and will never do .
By reading the bible through the lens of John Calvin, they blind themselves to the truth of what our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did for all, whosoever believes in Him. John 3 16. I pray for all of their followers to be healed from the damage inflicted and that they will read God's Word for themselves with open eyes; not according to the doctrines of men. Psalm 146 3 🙏
Synthesizing the Bible is a failure to interpret scripture in light of its historical and literary context. One who is practicing Matthew 28:19, 20 keeps that person from getting far from the truth. There are four kinds of soil. Not everyone is one type of soil.
Arguments can't really be eisegetical but, yes, he would say that Calvinism is based on eisegesis, ultimately, and that the text itself doesn't teach that. He believes that the only way you can come to a Calvinist view of the text is either by isolating certain passages from their context or starting with a Calvinist philosophy and reading that into the text.
@@Real_LiamOBryan Does Leighton also do something similar to what the Calvinist do? In other words, Leighton may be doing the same thing without realizing it himself.
@@themanincharge6418 I, personally, don't think he is. At the very least, since his position seems to be more face value when taken in context, I think that the Calvinist (which, me and Leighton both used to be) has to show that their system is clearly taught in scripture. Still, it's technically possible.
These teachings LITERALLY lead people not to follow God. As you literally mentioned in this video about Calvinist turned Atheists. How are Calvinists Christians if, by your own admission, they are actively leading people to Hell with a false teaching of the Scriptures? You have never given a solid answer on this and sidestep it often. I'd LOVE to hear you go live or debate a Christian who disagrees with you on this because this is a HUGE point in our faith that can lead people to Hell.
Because they aren't leading people to Hell. People are rejecting their theological system and, based on that, thinking they must reject Christianity. Also, they aren't misleading people intentionally. A person is a Christian if they believe in the essentials of Christianity, the so-called sine qua nons, and such a list is a short list that would be believed by pretty much all Calvinists that are not merely nominal Christians.
@bbryant0620 have you seen the videos of the two atheists who used to be Calvinists that Leighton has posted before? They are being deceived. The Scriptures talk about us being deceived and that those who deceive will be sent to Hell. Not to mention the Bible states that if anyone believes anything differently then they shall be accursed. As the famous saying says, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." They may genuinely believe they're honoring God like Paul did when he was persecuting and killing Christians but if he wouldn't have repented and would have died? He would be in Hell, even though he THOUGHT they were honoring God. Jesus talks about this in Matthew 15. It doesn't matter what your intentions are at all. If you're preaching false doctrine, then the Bible makes it EXPRESSLY clear that they will be going to Hell.
Do Calvinist determinists believe God is programming the devils as well? Why? We would say a human that pitted evil against himself intentionally was mentally ill.... they miss the big picture, hugely.
Hey Dr. Flowers! I love learning and studying theology. Your ministry helps me to love God with my mind. Also, I just got my copy of The Potter's Promise, and I have been enjoying it greatly! This is off-topic, but I am concerned by the thumbnail for this video. After all, using surreal caricatures of one's theological opponents does not seem like a very charitable thing to do. You take great care to properly represent MacArthur's ideas- but not his face? Why go to the effort of changing it in the first place? I can think of a few reasons, but none of them are good. It is such a small thing, and this likely will not be seen. All the same, that is my unsolicited opinion.
Calvinism: Why didn't you repent and accept Me? Reprobate: I was pre programmed to be unable to. I have an excuse, Lord. You made it impossible for me to love You. I would have, had You regenerated me. I would have loved and followed You all the days of my life. *awkward silence*
John 8:43: "Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot *hear* My word." The Pharisees can physically "hear" what Jesus is saying, but they cannot *bear* to hear it. It's like listening to a Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton speech. I can certainly hear them, but I cannot bear to hear them, and that was Jesus' point. The Pharisees cannot bear to hear the truth. Their objection to Jesus was that they were so close to God that they were being instructed by Him to reject Christ, and Jesus makes the opposite claim by pointing to their *unholiness* as their reason for rejecting Him. Alternatively, if God was their father, and if they loved God, then they would love the Son and His message, especially since His message was entirely from God. In other words, if they believed Moses, then they would believe Jesus (John 5:45-46), and if they heard from God, then they would come to Jesus (John 6:45), and if they sought God's will, then they would believe Jesus (John 7:17), and if God really was their father, they would love Jesus. (John 8:42) It's not that they were born this way, or that they cannot repent, but rather they've chosen to reject God and Christ, and Jesus points out to them that they could have "life," if they come to Him. (John 5:40)
Jesus - "The truth shall set you free." MacArthur - "You cannot believe the truth when you hear it, you must be set free first! (Calvinism)" One of these is true, one is not.
I choose JESUS .

Leighton man, thanks to you I don't feel crazy anymore. Biblical interpretation _in context_ (immediate and scripture as a whole) is the antidote to calvinism.
Reminds me of the lgbtq battle cry, "I was born this way". Calvinists have to just nod and say yes, can't fight that logic.
Ironic they still preach to them like it makes a difference in their doctrine. A bunch of double minded men just like their view of god.
DW: Calvinists have a thinking pattern which they are eventually conditioned into - which is called *AS-IF* thinking.
They assert the doctrine as TRUE - while treating the doctrine *AS-IF* it is FALSE
This is why so many Calvinist statements are statements of DOUBLE-SPEAK.

Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9, Ezekiel 18:23, and Matthew 23:37 God's will is for all people to be saved and none to be lost.
Amen
Of course it is ! But are they?
@@dfischer5878 No, why?
Calvin's god has two wills
An ENUNCIATED will - and a SECRET will
Calvin's god has two kinds of love
The kind of love that creates people specifically for eternal torment - and the kind of love which creates them for something else.
Calvin's god has two wills for ALL MEN
He wills ALL MEN saved - and - wills ALL MEN damned
This is the DUALISTIC "Good-Evil" component within Calvinism.
Good and Evil are "Co-Equal", "Co-Necessary", and "Co-Complimentary"
Calvin's god decrees all evil - and everything Calvin's god decrees is good - therefore evil is good.
i appreciate your kindness towards those who believe differently on these points
Thank you for being so gracious.... even when they are severe an snarky
"God decrees that you all are going to hell in an eternal conscious torment, for his glory! And he's going to enjoy every second of it! For his glory!"
"How is it our fault that we are damned to hell if God pre-programmed us to reject the only means of salvation in the first place?"
"It is a mystery! WHO ARE YOU O MAN TO QUESTION GOD!?"

Now THAT is how you evangelize.

How do you not see that Gods sovereignty and man’s responsibility are two parallel truths?
Gods saves sinners ( by His own plan)
Man is responsible for rejecting that plan….
I can not save myself.
Do you thank God for your salvation?
Do you pray for your loved ones to be saved or to save themselves?
So the God who sent His own Son into the world to die for sinners pre-programmed most people to reject this incredible, mind-blowing sacrifice?
Crazy huh . Ridiculous actually.

Calvinism = "When being better than everyone else ain't good enough"
"If God programs you, you will be saved" - The Gospel of Calvinism
How is this not another gospel?
Even Dr. Sproul is no longer a Calvinist.😊
In their witnessing they are only running around hoping to get lucky and run into someone God has already 'elected to be' saved. It begs the question why Paul spent so much time with Agrippa and others. Paul wasn't a very good Calvinist🤔🤔

I've never met a Calvinist who didn't believe they weren't one of God's elect. There's a certain elitism that comes with that entire belief system.
@Lion of Judah Consider this;
Elite (noun): "A select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society".

Great job, Brother Leighton. Jesus actually explained this to his disciples: he spoke in parables to conceal who he was so that some of them would seek to have him crucified. He still had to explain the parables to his disciples, and… some of the pharisees did believe and followed him.
All this famous and popular Calvinist teachers and preachers always teaching T.U.L.P in a sneaky way. They never say it's Calvinism

Works like a cult playing word games and not wanting you to “question god”. Taking things to their logical conclusion is something they refuse to do.
You can’t change how you feel, only God can. If you ask God humbly to change those feelings I have no doubt he will.
It's really sad and unfortunate how the doctrine of Calvinism has caused confusion and division among born-again believers.

Calvinists just need to write their own Bible and their own Gospel. The one they reference just doesn't agree with their ideas...
DW; The way they do that is to re-write verses in their minds while they are reading them.
The Calvinist brain is conditioned to MENTALLY re-write verses in order to ensure they say what the Calvinist needs them to say.
Where does this fit into Calvinism:
(1Chr 28:9) And thou, Solomon my son, *_know thou the God of thy father,_* and serve him with a perfect heart *_and with a willing mind:_* for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: *_if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever._*
@@dw6528 Well said!
How does a Calvinist know, without a doubt, if they are elected?
DW: Per the doctrine - they are granted NO CERTAINTY of their election because the doctrine strictly stipulates that knowledge as a DIVINE SECRET which only Calvin's god knows.
Secondly - Calvin's god creates a large percentage of believers - specifically to be CHAFF
And the CHAFF he divinely deceives - giving them a FALSE SENSE of salvation.
If a human brain is given FALSE PERCEPTIONS by infallible decree - it follows - it is impossible for that brain to discern those perceptions as FALSE
Thirdly - in Calvinism - all of the promises within scripture are classified as the ENUNCIATED will of Calvin's god - which in most cases is the exact opposite of his SECRET will.
So when the Calvinist reads "You are beloved" within scripture - he has no way of knowing if that is the ENUNCIATED will of Calvin's god - and the SECRET will of Calvin's god is the exact opposite.
Calvinists cannot emotionally bear the burden of those parts of the doctrine
So they simply go about their office *AS-IF* they are elect in order to retain emotional stability.
@@dw6528 wow, best answer I've ever received. Thanks
-Reminds me of where Jesus said to the Sadducees;
Matthew 22:29 NKJV - Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

I have a brother in his late 30s, he is fragile... he needs to hear another Christian speak the TRUE gospel, as a TRUE ambassadors for Christ, as though God did B E G (my brother) in Christ's stead, "be ye reconciled to God"... but if my brother reads any of their false arguments on line... it would/could EASILY unravel the gospel...
it is not just a "false doctrine"
it is legitimately ANTI-christ.
Exactly, he cannot do otherwise. Enjoy.
People that want to remain in their sin refuse the truth because they will not repent. We are told throughout the gospels that these Jews opposing Jesus were protecting their own status, traditions and sinful lives. That is why they rejected John's baptism and the will of God for their lives.
John 3:19-21
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

The excuse that Lady Ga Ga gives "I was born this way, Iwas born this way".
How much money does Logos pay to reformed /calvinist authors ?
If original sin is a faulty understanding of scripture, then why do children lie, or act selfishly without needing to be taught?
Calvinists want their cake and they want to eat it too! great video Dr. Flowers
Eating is what got them in the error they hold to...they swallowed Calvism and it corrupted their minds.
Maybe you could send that programmer to my house. I have a heck of a time with Microsoft Word.
Pre-programmed to reject the Gospel? Not according to the parable;
"And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts."
"And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended."
"And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful."

Jesus said “Mary has chosen the good portion and it will not be taken away from her.”
(8) Those who are in the flesh can't please God."
Those who are carnally minded are hostile to God because their spirit is dead to good works, desiring only its own will to be done.
Father!"
Eph 5:8-10 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord.
1Pe_2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Knowing then that (Psa_58:3) "The wicked go astray from the womb.
Eph 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, (5) even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
This is why the Pharisees could not believe in Jesus; their hearts (spirit) was hardened by sin, the same sin that hardened everyone who walks according to the flesh.
Col 1:12-14 giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; (13) who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; (14) in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins;
Why, again, did the Pharisees and Sadducees not believe Jesus and could not receive His word?
"Your doctrine preaches fleshy robots in regards to salvation!"
"No it doesn't!! We believe people are *preprogrammed* to damnation"

"...."
Perfect question!
"Are we pre-programmed to reject the gospel?"
The answer is absolutely NOT.
Ugh.
JUST HEAR IT:
"If God were your Father you would love me"
Do you hear it?
God was NOT their Father, Baal was their father because their forefathers led them astray....it took generations to get in the condition they became...God was patient and came at the perfect time which was when Israel was so far from the truth that He knew they would reject it standing in front of them.
Dang Calvinism is making a mess in God's house, and it needs to be wiped out and the only way to wipe it out is for our brothers and sisters to stop SWALLOWING it.
Why does one Person have a want or a desire to come to Jesus and someone else doesn’t ?
@@TheMirabillis
According to the word of God, it's because one person has found pleasure in unrighteousness and the other is searching for the way out of unrighteousness because they are zealous of good works.
@@TheMirabillis
"no one wilfully gets in a relationship with anyone else unless they first have a want or a desire to get to know that person and be in a relationship with that person."
Really?
You have never fallen in love with someone unexpectedly after getting to know them?
Personally, I have developed relationships with people that I have heard horrible things about, therefore I went into the relationship thinking this person is going to be a monster only to be pleasantly surprised that it was quite the opposite, and as a matter of fact, it was the other person that made painted the person to be a monster who was actually the monster.
The bible logically leads us to know and understand that God is not the monster that people make Him out to be which makes us fall in love with him and put our trust in Him which is not Calvinism.
"how does a person get a want or a desire to come to Christ"
I told you...BY LEARNING OF THE FATHER and the only way to learn of the Father is by giving our ears to teachers that teach of Him. If our teachers are false teachers and they teach of a false God we will be "ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" but if we give our ears to a variety of teachers we will then be able to come to the knowledge of the truth
That is not the same result as Calvinism.

If you think about it, you wanted to be in a relationship with those People. There was a desire for you to speak to them and see them, and enter into a relationship with them. Want and desire was very much present.
You wrote, \\ I told you...BY LEARNING OF THE FATHER and the only way to learn of the Father is by giving our ears to teachers that teach of Him. \\
Want and Desire is also here because a Person has to want and desire to hear from God ( The Father ).

Right! I think it’s pretty safe to say that when Jesus (who is God) talks about listening in any language, the context is consistent with shema.

So your position is that Calvinism is an eisegetical argument? Just wondering since I'm new to your channel.

John 8:43: "Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot *hear* My word."
The Pharisees can physically "hear" what Jesus is saying, but they cannot *bear* to hear it. (John 5:40)
Calvinism then misrepresents the nature of God, does it not?
You people are not qualified to demean or criticize John, you have o be saved and you have to believe the word not your feelings. REPENT AND BE SAVED
Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? Psalm 139:21
Exactly my point
