My parents also made sausage dressing. The night before they would take a loaf of bread and break it into pieces and let it sit out overnight uncovered so that it would get stale. They also added broth, poultry seasoning , onions and celery. They did not precook the sausage, onion or celery. They cooked the dressing in the turkey.

😅 as a retired psychologist, you do not have to give reasons to why your kids help you and cook because they’re doing their stuff is a reflection of what they learned as children. They cook not because they want to please you, but because it’s a reflection of being an ordinary family being video or not it’s because they do it out of love and not because they want to please your audience. Other large families that have channels doing for the audience and for the money.

@@2steppin2cali as a child psychologist, who worked with adopted, throwaway, in foster care,. Therefore, I think I know what I’m saying, because I am so foster kids when there was no room for them and myself, adopted five kids as a single parent. I was told by my parents that when I began to adopt kids, I better make sure that I have the money to raise them properly. The one thing about my children who were adopted, all they wanted to do was to go to school and college, because they wanted to do something with their lives. My kids all went to college and got their PhD‘s, except for one who is obtaining his masters and wants to go to get their PhD‘s except for one that is currently getting his masters, and I am very proud of my children. As a single parent, it’s sometimes got to live their normal life like all other kids dead. My oldest son and his wife adopted nine kids and had one who was their biological kid. Sometimes my son and his wife would would asked me what they should do and I told him to sit down and start figuring out what they should do because they need to know what the effects of punishment would be to their adopted kids. My son is it his wife always figured it out and be appropriate . I think working for 35 years with these beautiful children and the reflection that led my children to adopt as adults. Again, just the bells 10 did the right job when they came to their children. The bells children is a reflection to show the world how to do it.

My parents were born in KY, southern Appalachian mountains. My Mom said that if the cubed cornbread was cooked inside the turkey then it was stuffing. If the cubed cornbread was baked in a casserole dish it is called dressing. When I started cooking the Thanksgiving meal, I rubbed kosher salt all over the inside the bird, then placed inside the cavity sliced onions, apple, lemon and orange slices and fresh herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme). Made compound butter (2 sticks of softened butter, dried poultry seasoning, dried rosemary and thyme mixed together and rolled into a log and refrigerated until solid) then cut medallions of butter and place under the skin all over the turkey then rub the remaining butter over the surface of the turkey. I cook my turkey in a turkey bag. It is always turns out perfectly browned. Then strain the juices left in the bag for turkey gravy. Plus it is always easy clean up.

We don't either, but we do have a simple, but hearty casserole that is pretty tasty we like to make in the winter that uses it. Browned ground hamburger, seasoned however you want. Thinly sliced yellow onions that can be raw or caramelized. Peeled and sliced russet potatoes. Canned cream style corn and canned drained sweet corn. Layer it up with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, then add a little milk and bake it off until the potatoes are tender. Sooooo good 😋 Happy holidays!

I agree with Izzy, ❤ As a matter of fact, when I was a teenager, I would go shopping with my mother at that time. I don't know if they still do but Philadelphia, burn cream cheese made a little square cream cheese like the size of maybe a square brownie that you would eat and I would walk through the store with her eating at just like that people would look at me and i'd be like my mother would say they're looking at you and Remember telling her I don't care and the next one looked at me funny. I'm gonna offer them a bite! LO. L, he said oh gross, so of course, true to my form. The next person that looked at me funny and said. Here you want a bite and she. The lady said to me. That's just cream cheese and I'm like. Yeah, so I'll let it fit in the wrapper and she's like okay. After that no one looks at me funny. The rest of my shopping trip LOL that was like my, I would tell my mother. I have to have it. It's like my energy booster, of course aging myself. I'm almost 50 and I can remember that those squares were 25 cents each back then LOL.

What is the trick to peel fresh eggs? I never heard her say. I have backyard chickens and our eggs are always destroyed if we boil & peel them.

You are such a wonderful person and mother......much better than that horrible Alicia from Dougherty Dozen.....I can see that you actually care about your beautiful children and enjoy spending time with them, cooking etc, not like her, who just uses her kids for content. Hats off to you wonderful mother xx
