Thank you. I was told several years ago, "You don't have to do everything at once". Best advice. One clean chore a day good advice. Cleaning seems endless.
I'm 75 (almost) my cleaning hack is after I clean the kitchen in the evening, I pick out one drawer or one shelf in the kitchen empty, declutter, clean, and refill. It takes about 67 days to complete the whole cycle then I start over again. BUT (there always a but) after a while your shelves and drawers will pretty much stay organized so you can skip a drawer/shelf and catch it the next time around. Sunday is my day of rest; I try to do nothing constructive except eat and clean up afterwards.
The world won't stop if you don't keep up with the cleaning EVERY day. Sunday is a great day to rest, reflect, watch that world go by, enjoy your friends and family.
I have a sweet teenage granddaughter that comes and helps me from time to time. I mentioned that her Papa wanted to have people over for the 4th of July (we have a nice place in the country that is perfect for it) and that I wasn't sure I would be up for it. She said, Oh Grammy I'll come help you clean and get ready! I have another sweet granddaughter that is just 10 but she loves to organize. She wants to come help me do some organizing this summer. They are such a blessing!
What a great find! I am 71 almost 72. I live in a mobile home. I suffer from many chronic health issues, and am awaiting the same neck and back surgeries as your husband had. I am thrilled to find a senior Christian person to bring an older perspective to UA-cam. Bless you and I look forward to viewing your videos.
@@robinm.1961 It is to me. UA-cam is full of young, indulgent, self centered, rich girls. I watch some of them and find good ideas, and I admit it, even have some favorites. In all, I have found 2 "senior" women here that can actually give me good, usable, information about issues that don't consist of modeling poses, selfies, and other stuff like that. My faith means a lot to me and good values are hard to find. When you find both, that is a winner to me. If you disagree, that is your right. I am not trying to "influence" you. 🙃
You are my kind of cleaner - thanks for the reminder to make things easier - it’s hard to let go of the cleaning habits of a lifetime but when arthritis (plus) hits, you have no choice! I liked your hacks, thank you, Linda, I’ll use them all, AND give myself a break! 💐💞
Hi Linda, I just came across this video and really enjoyed it. I just turned 69 and I too have arthritis. When you talked about food scraps in the garbage, I decided to share what I've been doing for a couple of years. I save white and blue plastic bags from stores. I use the white ones in the bathroom trash can and the blue ones in the freezer. I put all food scraps in the blue bag in the freezer during the week and it gets put in the big outside toter on garbage day. Never any smells, never any bugs. Works so well!
In addition to putting a bag of garbage in the freezer, my mother would take a half gallon, you know square or rectangular milk carton, and when it was empty, she would cut it in half basically creating saving the bottom half and creating a square bucket, he put a little vegetable bag in there from the supermarket and you put it in the door of your freezer. Then when you have like a little extra oatmeal or some little extra piece of meat or some garbage just open the freezer and drop it in that little bucket. Then when it gets full, you just pull out the bag from the bucket, tie it up and throw your garbage out and put a new bag in.
@@SusanHarrell530 I live near a big city and I tried putting eggshells once in my garden and I got 1 million flies. I’m just putting that out there for some reason if there’s any type of food outside will get flies and I don’t want that.
🤣🥰Amen🙏 I have been donating, declutterring & only keeping the things I love. I had an entire linen closet STUFFED 🤦🏻♀️ The kids are grown with their own families. I keep 1 set of sheets for the spare beds & 2 sets for us. It feels fantastic 🥰
64 & always loved Pine Sol! 4 kids & Pine Sol has satyed with me through the worst messes ...long before there were "enviormentally safe" cleaning products. You go girl!
Awwww, you’re so sweet! I just want to hug you! I’m not lazy, just worn out with health problems, lol. So glad I found your channel! May the Lord bless you with health and the secret desires of your heart! John 3:16❤
My husband's newspaper is delivered around 3 am, usually thrown at the front door. Since I am usually the first one up, I will retrieve it. If it is close enough to the door (especially in nasty weather) I get out my kitchen tongs and use them so I don't have to go outside, stoop, turn and re-enter the house. Also great for getting that package of pasta that keeps trying to avoid me by scooting to the back of the shelf. Love tongs.
Forgot to mention litter pickers absolutely priceless for winkling dropped objects or things that have fallen into awkward crannies. ‘Bought from UK £1 shop.
Cleaning is the last thing on my mind! I never did like to clean up a house (but I do). I love to be outside. So when you said you can't get to everything and the world won't stop I'm here to say no truer words were spoken. Enjoyed your hacks and here is one hack I love: no more rugs in the kitchen. I bought comfort "rugs" that you can wipe off when you mop. Heck you can take them outside and hose them off if you want to. Washing rugs and hanging heavy rugs on the clothesline is a thing of the past for me. And about heavy vacuums, this 75 year old now uses the Shark Rocket. It is so light and easy to store.
Thank you for the tips and comments! Sounds like you’ve got it all worked out and you have your priorities straight. Good for you! Thanks again for watching and commenting. I appreciate it. Blessings on you and yours! ❤️
I like the long tongs for taking the laundry out of the washing machine I’m not very tall and it’s getting harder to reach the items on the bottom of the tub. Definitely will be looking for some or I wonder if one of the grabber tools would work. Thanks so much I’m looking for more ideas to help me stay at home until I go to heaven.
@@marybethmoorlag2686 I don't like the plastic grabber tool I bought. It isn't strong enough. BBQ metal tongs Linda showed would work for your laundry. I have trouble now with taking a basket of wet laundry out to the clothesline. Yes, I do hang clothes outside (outdoor work clothes, not towels or linens).
I need one of those. I’m 70 and have back problems and arthritis too. My vacuum cleaner is just too much for me. I just bought it 2 years ago and it costs almost 300 dollars. Ouch but hopefully I can get a little bit for it. -Susan
Husband got me 3 rumba like vacuums one for each floor. Got rid of rugs on floor except for doors. Works wonders. Plan before hand for problems. I agree with her simplify.
I'm new here, am 70, and had a total knee replacement in late February of this year. Not to mention arthritis in my other knee, back, etc. Luckily, our vacuum cleaner is lightweight. Thank you for sharing!
I love this! * covering an angle broom to dust ceilings or maybe covering it with a cloth dampened with cleaner for floorboards and corners. I'm buying one of these! * $store wipes for blinds or window edges and sills. I'm doing this! Thank you. Truly.
The tongs in the washer was a great idea! THANK YOU!!! I have a spinal cord injury and arthritis that makes being independent difficult. I’m stubborn and don’t want help until I have to. My husband bought me a very nice washer and dryer set and we put the matching drawers under them for easier reaching. My problem was getting clothes out of a washer and dryer I could climb into. A grabber/ picker upper was too long and was hard to get the clothes out and into a basket without having to pick things up off the floor. Can’t understand why I didn’t think of the convenience of using tongs. Thank you so much for the tip!
This makes me so happy that this video was helpful to you! Praise God! And I love your independence and therefore your productivity! Thanks for watching and commenting and blessings on you today!❤️🙏
I just found your channel - you brighten my day with your attitude. We have a king size bed (don't do that) and changing sheets used to be a terrible chore. I have learned to fold the sheets from top to bottom and again in the same direction. That way you can lay the sheet on the bed, tuck in the bottom and then pull up toward the top. Less walking around the bed. It also helps to draw a line just above the elastic on the bottom end of the fitted sheet (I know the tag goes on the left, but the line is easier) and add little mark in the center. It also helps to put a dot at the bottom center of the top sheet. Hope this helps someone. Thanks for a great, uplifting video.
My husband bought sheets at SAMS CLUB & I ❤️ them! They actually have the TOP & BOTTOM imprinted in them which makes putting the fitted sheets on a king bed a breeze! The fitted sheet also has DEEP pockets so there's ZERO need to pull & tug. 😁
Just came across your site and love your suggestions. I am 72 with arthritis and fibromyalgia, which started in my late 30's. Heart and lung problems started in my 50's. I have had asthma all my life, so I can't handle strong smelling cleaning products, so I have no choice but to use the milder more expensive cleaners. With all my health issues I can only do a little bit at a time even dishes I do in steps, wash a few, sit down rest then a few more and sit down. I use a stool to sit on to cook. Tried it to wash dishes and got water all over me, so I went with the sit stand sequence. But it is all about pacing my activities and resting in between. Thanks for your tips. Just subscribed to your channel for more helpful tips.
So sorry to hear of your health issues and believe me, I get it! Welcome to the channel and I hope something I share will be helpful for you. Thanks so much for sharing. Blessings ❤️
I'm 69, have arthritis and fibromyalgia and lung trouble, too. I use a cane at home and a walker when we go out (mostly just to church). I cannot stand for more than about a minute, so I use a rolling desk chair in the kitchen. I also use it to sweep or vacuum (we have the canister style). The desk chair helps me to be able to do what I can.
I have lower back issues and must rest in between also! I wish there was a stool that could be used for washing dishes and/or putting them in the dishwasher.
As for cleaning product fragrances, I found that I can tolerate the oldies but goodies (ORIGINAL scent). Not sure it would work for you however, I'm extremely sensitive to any & all fragrances in products.
Hello, finally something for seniors. I live in Canada and saw your video for the first time today. Love the ideas and tricks for cleaning. I had to give up cleaning like I did before, Body did not like to work so hard anymore lol. Thanks for the fun video.
HECK YEAH LINDA! I have recently become a full-time caregiver for my soon to be 80-year Mama. I am a professional singer and musician but I also have my own online merchandise business and I just created my own record label! To top that off, I have my beloved indoor kitties and my outdoor wildlings that I have to take care of...but I am a STAUNCH believer in running a tight ship which includes a CLEAN HOUSE! These tips are GOLDEN!! ( I am also afflicted with Spina Bifida-which messes with my bones and arthritis as well ). THANK YOU! MUCH LOVE AND MAD RESPECT FROM NEW ORLEANS BABY! ^..^⚜🎺🎷🎭🥃🍺🦐🦞🦀🐊

Best new tool to me is a triangle shaped scrub pad on a swivel. The handle is about two feet long. No more having to try and scrub the tub with the fear of ending up in the tub. Found it on Amazon for under $12
I bought a home that happened to have a jacuzzi tub w/a lot of powerful jets. Problem is, the tub is HUGE & DEEP and impossible for me to bend & lean over to clean it! 🤦♀️ Since it's acrylic, I didn't dare use the hard scrub brush on the poll so I finally had an AHA moment! I bought a 'mop' at the Dollar Tree store that I use only for the tub & it works great!
Hey neighbor! North Florida girl here. Thanks so much for the tips. I have terrible back issues so these tips will help me tremendously. I never thought of the large tongs. My husband has big ones for the grill that he never uses so guess what? They're mine now! LOL Have a great day!!
Dollar Tree has a dust pan & long handle so you don’t have to bend. Also a duster for ceiling fan blades & a window squeegee & a great handle with sponge cleaner. I’m recovering from a year (June) of 5 hospitalizations & 7 surgeries. I’m blessed and sometimes it takes twice as long but I can do it. God bless.
I love your joyful attitude. I just moved to South Florida, am a senior and have horrible arthritis yet love a clean house. We’ve got a bit in common. I subscribed immediately. God bless.

I've learned putting several extra trash bags in the can at once saves a few trips keep a few in the bottom of the can perfect esp for bedrooms bathroom etc
My mother in law did that with her trash can. I just inherited a beautiful wood trash can from a neighbor I've admired it for the past 30 years but dang I didn't realize how tall that thing is or how heavy. For now I am able to lift heavy bags so it's saving me a ton on trash bags but eventually as I continue to age I will have to pass it on to someone else. Anna In Ohio
I found that using an O’Cedar mop has been amazing for me. It works great for the floors, baseboards, and even the walls. It is good for reaching those cobwebs also. Make sure that you have most of the water out of the mop to make it lighter (damp). Just my thought.
Thank you Linda!!! Great tips! I don't really have health issues but I have a lot going on with an elderly mother. Your suggestions were just what I needed.
Aren't you just so cute❤ I turned 60 and it is really something to scrub the way I am used to so this is some awesome tips!! Grew up on using pine sol. Smells good works pretty well! Thank you!

Awesomeness! Thank you! I'm not a senior but I have mobility issues and these tips will really help me out! I also love your look in fuchsia! It's your color!
I like the idea of using the large giant tongs to get the clothes out of the bottom of the washer as it can be hard to reach the far back and bottom of the washer...Also to pick stuff up off the floor...I wil use that one. Thank you Linda 😀
I'm short and my daughter's laundry tub is DEEP. When I visited her, I 'attempted' to do some laundry, & had to use my tippy toes to try & reach the bottom. Needless to say, I lost my balance & literally fell into the washer! What ever happened to that thingy that was in the middle of the old washers?! At least THAT would've helped to help get out! My daughter was like, OMG ... HOW did you end up half inside the washer mom?! She said "the laundry room is off limits for shorty," had me sit on the couch, turned the tv on & said, I'll do the laundry for the rest of your visit! I think I'll use the 'tongs' when I'm home! L🤣L ...
You are most welcome and I certainly understand living with pain that seems to continue to get worse. I’m right there with ya! I hope these tips help and you have a blessed day!❤️
Thank you so much. I just found you. I have terrible arthritis in my whole body and fibromyalgia. I appreciate the ideas. I have a husband that doesn’t help. I learned alot.
Thanks so much for watching! And you might enjoy a video on fibromyalgia I did on my channel. “How I’ve Managed fibromyalgia for 40 yrs.” Check it out. Blessings on you today!
WOW Love this video. We are in Central FL. I have had 2 back surgeries and now have a pinched nerve so I have to be careful with everything that I do. I have a slight case of OCD so it frustrates me when things aren't "perfect". I have had to train myself to relax and just do what I can, when I can. Like you said, the world will go on if things aren't perfect.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I so appreciate it. And I’m so sorry to hear about your pain, but I certainly do understand living with chronic pain. Been doing it for 40 years. I’ll be praying for you to have some relief and healing. Blessings.❤️🙏
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally someone who gets it! This is so encouraging. Especially about the happy heart. I'll be thinking of you next time I clean my "one thing". That's my speed, too. You are a beautiful person!
Love the tips, already do a few of them; great minds think alike. I would like to add one: Don’t tuck the bed sheets in. For two reasons, one it takes time and energy, two if you have leg cramps in the middle of the night, trying to get out of bed to stand is easier when they aren’t tucked in. If you want to keep the sheets from migrating too much tuck one foot corner in.

God bless you.great ideas. I especially like the tip about window blinds and about covering the angled broom. Thank you so much for keeping this real. Not looking through rose colored glasses and not being too pessimistic . But keeping it real and facing the facts and helping us to sort out what to do about it now that the body just can't do what it used to.
You are so welcome! And I’m right there with everybody when it comes to I just plain can’t move like I used to. And sometimes, I just do it anyway and work past the pain. Thank you so much for watching and sharing! I appreciate the support! Blessings!

Love your attitude! I've more recently decided, too, that what I call spot cleaning is better and more workable than trying to clean a whole room at one time. I saw on another video about using a broom to clean the tub, works great and cleans the broom too. It's much physically easier. I'm also 71.

Hi Linda - I have just found you and thank you for all the great ideas. I have just subscribed. I need a new garbage bin and agree that a smaller one is best, living alone, I don't want old food waste hanging around the kitchen for too long. I must get rid of some of my knick-knacks to make dusting a breeze like you have done. Thank you for all your encouragement. PS Great idea to clear clutter that I got from another UA-camr - get rid of 3 items a day, either donate, pass on to family or friends, or toss in the trash! Only 3 items is manageable.....

I put my food garbage in the freezer in a Ziploc bag for the week. I just add to it as we have stuff to toss, take it out and put it in the regular trash bag on trash days. No bugs or smells. Yeh! Had so many bugs from trash before I started doing that.
I started using a plastic trash bag in the refrigerator for my trash to get rid of insects and garbage smells a year ago and it helped immensely. Also put all food containers in the freezer and fill them with smelly trash. When I take my trash out every 3 days (live on top floor in apartment house) I just put the frozen items in refrigerator bag and tie it up and throw.
Hi! I just found you and love the arthritis too! Just wanted to mention the ceiling fan cleaning. Just saw a young man clean his by taking an old pillow case and sliding it completely around the fan blade. Then he would hold it tightly and pull along the blade wiping all the dirt down inside the case! Wow! Great idea cause you know that crap goes everywhere!
This is great! Thank You. I've had both hips replaced and it's not easy to bend. I'm talking about getting in the bottom of cabinets and the bottom of stove. I'm realizing how great it would be to have my oven in the wall and the Microwave. I emphasize with your Arthuritus. My brother was so cripped with Arthuritus it was so very sad. Well, Thank You Your a Love lady.. I'm glad I watched your video.

Food scraps that are safe for birds, we save in a small plastic bowl and toss outside every morning near our bird and squirrel feeders.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing! I’m going to try this! Blessings!❤️

Very true! Our kids don’t want it anyway and I don’t want them to clean up my junk after I go to heaven.
Only 2 sheet sets for our bed. One in wash other on bed. Guest beds, only 1 set each, guest leaves, strip bed, wash and put right back on guest bed.
My girls ALWAYS reminds me to declutter so they won't end up having to ... someday! 😉
64 & always loved Pine Sol! 4 kids & Pine Sol has satyed with me through the worst messes ...long before there were "enviormentally safe" cleaning products. You go girl!
My grandma used to bathe us kids in Pine-sol!
“…And the world goes right on!” I love that! You’re so right. Thank you for your bubbly fun words and beautiful voice!
You’re welcome and thank you for your kind words and encouragement! Have a blessed day!!❤️
Awwww, you’re so sweet! I just want to hug you! I’m not lazy, just worn out with health problems, lol. So glad I found your channel! May the Lord bless you with health and the secret desires of your heart! John 3:16❤
Thank you for your kind words! And thanks for your support! I really appreciate it!❤️
My husband's newspaper is delivered around 3 am, usually thrown at the front door. Love tongs.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing! Blessings!❤️
Forgot to mention litter pickers absolutely priceless for winkling dropped objects or things that have fallen into awkward crannies. ‘Bought from UK £1 shop.
I use a pasta fork to reach those items that are just out of reach.
I like the idea of using disinfectant wipes for the blinds! I will definitely try that, thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. Blessings on you today!
I recommend a cordless stick vacuum. Mine weighs 5 lbs and no cord to fool with or keep unplugging and re plugging in.
Great tip!
I finally got a robot vac (I'm not supposed to do the back/forth motion a vac & mop requires) however, it doesn't do the job like I'm used to doing.
I love this!
* covering an angle broom to dust ceilings or maybe covering it with a cloth dampened with cleaner for floorboards and corners. I'm buying one of these!
* $store wipes for blinds or window edges and sills. I'm doing this!
Thank you. Truly.
Spray brooms/dusters with Endust or similar.
It's so hard to work so hard and I'm worn-out and others find fault with zero solutions. Thank you for this channel.
You are so welcome! And thank you so much for watching!❤️
Thank you for this tip! And welcome! So happy to have you! Blessings on you today!❤️
Thank you for those ideas - I hate making up the bed and always have a struggle before the sheets are on right way up!
Great suggestions!
Don't let anyone steal your joy. Love that🎉🎉🎉
Just came across your site and love your suggestions.
@@karenosterblom4131 yeah, me too. Or better yet, if they would clean themselves.
Hello, finally something for seniors. I live in Canada and saw your video for the first time today. Love the ideas and tricks for cleaning. I had to give up cleaning like I did before, Body did not like to work so hard anymore lol. Thanks for the fun video.
You’re welcome and thanks for watching and commenting! ❤️
Welcome New Orleans! We lived on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL 16 yrs. and raised our kids there. Thanks for watching! I so appreciate your comments. Blessings!❤️
Great tips! I agree about the decluttering. It is so tedious to clean with nick nacks. Keep it simple and classy.
I'm ordering a vacuum like yours 😊❤
Best new tool to me is a triangle shaped scrub pad on a swivel. The handle is about two feet long. No more having to try and scrub the tub with the fear of ending up in the tub. Found it on Amazon for under $12
Good to know! Thanks!❤️
I already use this one to scrub the bath tub also...Red long handle....
Those angle brooms for other tasks are great. So are the disinfectant wipes for outside of toilet.
Hey neighbor! North Florida girl here. Thanks so much for the tips. I have terrible back issues so these tips will help me tremendously. I never thought of the large tongs. My husband has big ones for the grill that he never uses so guess what? They're mine now! LOL Have a great day!!
I caught that too! Hadn't occurred to me that our humidity was making STICKY dust 🙃 Blessings!
God bless.
Thank you and I just posted a video on Dollar Tree cleaning finds! I love that place! Thanks for watching! Blessings!❤️

I do that too! Good tip! Thanks!
You are delightful. Thank you for the tips and the humor.
You are so welcome! And thank you for your kind words! Blessings!❤️
Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! And especially thanks for watching and commenting. I so appreciate it! Be blessed today.!
Small garbage bins that get emptied more often works for me. Big ones get stinky

Awesomeness! Thank you! I'm not a senior but I have mobility issues and these tips will really help me out! I also love your look in fuchsia! It's your color!
Why thank you ma’am!! ❤️
A back scratcher works for reaching items high above or deep into the fridge under the dresser or bed. Just about any where .
I like the idea of using the large giant tongs to get the clothes out of the bottom of the washer as it can be hard to reach the far back and bottom of the washer...Also to pick stuff up off the floor...I wil use that one. Thank you Linda 😀
Glad it was helpful! Blessings!
Thank you for this video. My arthritis has gotten worse this year and I can’t do things I use to. It’s good to find new ways to do chores.

Glad it was helpful! And thanks for watching!
Thank you just found your video young lady God bless you and your family 💗🌷👏🙏👍
Love the tips, already do a few of them; great minds think alike. I would like to add one: Don’t tuck the bed sheets in. For two reasons, one it takes time and energy, two if you have leg cramps in the middle of the night, trying to get out of bed to stand is easier when they aren’t tucked in. If you want to keep the sheets from migrating too much tuck one foot corner in.
Great tip!! Thank you!❤️
Hi Linda! You popped up on my feed and I’m so glad you did! I live in north Florida too (St. Augustine) and I’m thrilled to have a UA-cam neighbor !! Keep safe during this upcoming hurricane season, and I’m looking forward to living and laughing with you !! Hugs 🤗Sheri
Wonderful! And WELCOME fellow Floridian! So happy to have you! Yes, hurricane season is here again. You stay safe as well! Blessings!❤️
I love the smell of the old cleaning products.
I can still remember the round flat tin can with solid wax furniture polish.. Was it lavender? Could smell it for a few days.. So clean and relaxing.
Yes, I agree. The smell of the products from the past makes the cleaning seem twice as clean!!!
Hate pine sol. Takes my breath away. Vinegar, baking soda and dawn,
Can't use pine sol, pine air fresheners, etc., around birds as it kills them.
Scentiva makes a great smelling product (Beach, with a hint of coconut) that has a bit of bleach in it. I love it..and I love the scent. They have other scents ..as well.
Love your you tube. Understand how hard to do things now. Turning 85 this summer.
Wow! Happy birthday early! So happy to have you in our community. Blessings on you today!❤️

Love your attitude! I've more recently decided, too, that what I call spot cleaning is better and more workable than trying to clean a whole room at one time. I saw on another video about using a broom to clean the tub, works great and cleans the broom too. It's much physically easier. I'm also 71.

When the blinds are clean & dry, use an antistatic spray to repel dust for longer.
@@sharonpoitra193 Sharon, thanks for the antiseptic spray tip.
No, no: antistatic. It repels dust, like Endust or similar. I think maybe the computer cleaning spray stuff might be a form of antistatic, too.

When cleaning the walls..whee dust accumulates among other places..be sure to use the angled brush..but use a mask..or bandana to cover your nose..if you are sensitive to dust or allergens.
Robot vacs (with mopping function) on offer. Life changing. Swiffer dusters. Spray mops.

Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
I do this too. 🎉❤
