- So Lancaster castle has opened a police museum in part of the old cells. I t features 16 cells and each cell features a certain police topic. In the museum you will even see the famous Buck Ruxton bath, this has be moved from Scotland yard and brought back to Lancaster. There is also activities for kids. It is free admission and at the moment it is open Thursday and Friday 10:30-4pm. We really recommend this museum as it`s just what Lancaster needed. Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe as it really helps the channel. Take care.

Dotty seemed to know her way round quite well !
A bit too well if you ask me.....are you asking me?
@@FromTheShore1 No won’t do that, after all she is “family”
Absolutely 💯
Fun fact. I was the 3rd to last prisoner to leave the castle before it shut. April2011 I think. Got moved to wymott. Did numerous history courses whilst there. Fascinating place
That is so interesting. We would love to talk to you about your time there. We love hearing peoples stories. Have you ever been back to the castle....as a visitor?
@@FromTheShore1 no I've never been back to visit although I intend too. Born and bred in Morecambe and now living in Sheffield but I intend to visit the castle next time I'm visiting family.
One interesting fact is whilst there they was doing some building work to the healthcare unit which is by gym (oldest part of the prison). Whilst digging they found numerous remains. Some skulls had the jaw bone broken and a wooden sharpened post hammered through the skull and into the ground. Apparently they was concerned about the body coming back to life and causing havoc. Zombies was a genuine fear lol.
One thing I wanted to chase up but never did was a house on st George's quay. The new owners of the house were doing extensive renovations. They knocked a wall down in the loft and it revealed a hidden room that was used by a slave transporter. It had a table and chair, written documents regarding slave welfare ect. There was even tobacco leaves hanging from the ceiling that had been put there to dry lol.
But yeah the history of the castle is absolutely fascinating. Just wish the walls could talk lol.
Any questions feel free to ask.
Regards
Stuart
