In Las Vegas PBR is all over the place. Old Milwaukee I have not seen in well over thirty years ago since I was living in Denver Colorado. I thought they had stopped manufacture of OM.. Thank you for a review of an oldie!
Enjoyable review. Old Milwaukee might be the first beer I tasted. My Dad used Old Milwaukee for the beer batter at the Knights of Columbus fish fry’s and used sneak a can from the leftovers. Both beers have those classic “beer” flavors. I think a Hamm’s/Miller High Life challenge would be interesting.
My 2 favorite lagers! Wish I could find old Milwaukee these days. Haven't seen it in almost 3 years. Last time was in the middle of nowhere Montana. Over 3 years since I've seen it in Tennessee.
Your friend is right about Pabst in the cans missing that full PBR flavor. I've said this for years, it's way better on draft! Huge difference compared to other cans and their drafts. Missing that bready, yeasty goodness in the cans
i usually get pbr on draft when i go to the local tavern, and i cannot confirm these opinions. i honestly dont think pasteurization has any negative effect on the adjunct lager category, i actually think it's reverse. more flavor in the pasteurized versions, including beers like highlife as opposed to mgd. The main issue in my experience, is the total lack of beer serving knowledge in the bars around here, they will serve you a frozen pbr in a iced mug and you will get no lacing and no head. So many donks tending bar in the USA.
An excellent assessment of both products, David and Jay. Pick one or the other and you cannot go wrong, as they are quality either way. I used to lean more towards Old Milwaukee, but of late, have preferred Blue Ribbon. I regularly pick up both at a cost of $14.99 per 30 pack.
We pay 33.99 for a 24 here in sask, canada... but our beers are 4.9 abv both the old milwaukee and pbr, probably because any lower of abv we wouldnt buy it. Low abv or light does horrible here in general.
I saw it in Lafayette (and, the Light, too), last month, but I never really see it in southeastern Louisiana, anymore. Thanks for watching, Macrocosmic Orbit. I appreciate it!
Thumbs up on this! Good idea of David's! A Beast Ice & Icehouse duo video would be a good comparison, I think. Have always liked Old Milwaukee, MGD and High Life more than PBR. Have never understood the hipster PBR fandom (conformists??). I am a fan of PBR Extra, though. Much better than regular Pabst IMO.
Both of them are great adjunct lagers and very well priced but my problem is distribution with Pabst. I will lean slightly towards PBR over Old Milwaukee. Fun review fellas 👍🏾😁
DUDE - YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RIGHT - ULTRA VS NATURAL LIGHT - i've been preaching that to soooo many people - it's basically the same beer to the hilt aside from the price.....Once u said that, i thought I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE :)))) - in credit to NATURAL LIGHT - The cans are cooler looking and more enjoyable drinking from the can as it gives off more of that nostalgic vibe of drinking a REAL BEER!!!
As per your request, I think National Bohemian is in the same corral generally, and might be good for a comparison video. But you probably don't see it much in and around the BE. I can only find it at Total Wine (the fine print on the cans say Heileman!)
Had an Old Milwaukee & National Bohemian in succession twice during this past week. They are both 2 of my preferred AAL’s … but Natty Boh was the “clear & present winner”!
I’ve watched most (close to all) of your videos of any & all beers I even drink occasionally but my first time seeing this one. Both are plenty serviceable AAL’s but I actually prefer the OM too. Less of that residual sweet corn flavor, dryer and a tick of hop bitterness on the back end - closer to those euro characteristics that you know I love so much. Can’t find OM around Norfolk - Virginia Beach, have seen inland 50 miles or so in a couple stores a few years ago in more rural/ country areas but not recently. Picked up 2 6 packs of tall cans in NJ 2 weeks ago. When it comes to AAL, OM one of the better ones out there in my opinion
I love this kind of review. I'd like to pick up some Old Milwaukee, but it will have to be a 30 pack, Pabst I can get, in any number of packages around me.
I bought a six-pack each of Old Milwaukee and Old Milwaukee ice yesterday. $4.49 each 16 oz. Great deal and both refreshing! Just wish Schlitz was easier for me to get without going to Delaware
Both are respectable adjunct lagers. OM was a staple in New England but has pretty much disappeared. Jean H Pierre is correct. Pabst distribution is sub-zero and not consistent.
@@ronaldtheriot really.. The last time that bought Schlitiz, I was in college… late 90s. I didn’t care for . It could have been old stock. It was heavy discounted when I bought it. I haven’t seen any in years. Coors, Yuengling, Anheuser Busch, ect…. Which one do you find the cleanest and crispier? I’m having a Superbowl Party, and it’s been so long since I’ve had this beer. I’ve forgotten which I like most. I use to love Budlight on tap, but with the controversy, I don’t want to go there. I liked Coors light on tap too. Im smoking beef brisket in a pit. Myself, I’m drinking Canadian Club and Pepsi… Although, I may have a beer when I eat. I was thinking Blue Moon too. Do you have any suggestions?
Pabst was my go to Beer when I first started Drinking Beer I am only 23 btw but was drinking Beer before I was of legel age. Since the Hipsters have claimed the brand now pabst is over priced in my opinion. I live in Southern Ohio a 30 pack of PBR is 20 bucks or over that depending on where you shop. I can get a 30 pack of Hamms or Old Milwaukee both for 15 bucks a 30 pack they are now becoming my go to beers Hamms and Old Milwuakee. Miller High Life also I feel like is over pirced too so I quit buying it is also at 20 dollars or more for a 30 rack. I just think for this style of beer 20 dollars for a 30 pack is over priced but I feel like Hamms and Old Milwuakee are just as good and are better priced.
Based on Pabst's Twitter feed, maybe the hipsters are ready to see a head-to-head between PBR and eating a**. OTOH, while your views and subs may go up, I'm not sure what it'll do for your reputation.... ;-)
@@ronaldtheriot Then my comment makes as much sense to you as PBR's Twitter feed made to everyone else on 3 Jan. One of their marketing guys posted this, "“Not drinking this January? Nice video. Gonna have to try Old Milwaukee, only ever had their NA and that's been 10 years ago. Seems to pop up in the beer aisle just as much as the original.
Just checking in from tuscon arizona, me and my wife love your videos!! keep it coming brother!

You're welcome, and Old Milwaukee lives!
Yes do more of these they're great, maybe Grain Belt and Hamm's
I think we will do more. Thanks for watching, Rory Bolkan. I appreciate it!
You guys do a very entertaining beer review. Keep on keepin’ on!
Thanks, and we intend to do so!
Would be great if schlitz and pbr would re-introduce the old stubbies featured in that nat geo article photo.
You're welcome, and you're right, Shawn. I'd like to try the Sleeman varieties, someday.
Old Milwaukee seems to be getting tough to find in my area. Used to see it everywhere
Same story, here.

Right, a classic beer flavor. Sadly, Hamm's has departed Louisiana.

I can get Old Milwaukee, but I have to go 20 miles, which I am not willing to do. Thanks for watching, Chuck Cheese. I appreciate it!
Never got to try Old Milwaukee but would love too. I really like PBR from time to time. 🍻
I can get Old Milwaukee, but not in my parish, anymore.
Pabst had Andeker if I'm not mistaken, man that was a good beer had it a few years ago visiting Milwaukee..
Yes, you're right. I never got to try it. Thanks for watching, Matt Black. I appreciate it!
Yes! That's the type of episodes I love. Your cheap domestic beers are my hard to find imports.

These are my two favorite macro lagers but finding Old Milwaukee in my area in metro New Orleans is almost impossible.
I'm almost certain that the Rouse's on Power Blvd. in Metairie has it.
This is like a duo double down beer examination, I like it!
I think you're right! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Haha the kids at the bar. My grandpa used to take me to the bar with him. He would have a few beers and i would play pinball. Great times!!
Yes, that's the old days.
Old Milkwaukee, not had in in years, hard to find. Even Bevmo doesnt stock it often...Steve McQueens favorite beer , a classic !
I saw it in Lafayette (and, the Light, too), last month, but I never really see it in southeastern Louisiana, anymore. Thanks for watching, Macrocosmic Orbit. I appreciate it!

I wish Old Milwaukee was available here in CA. Would be fun to do this blind :)
I wish so, too. I've not gotten it in my parish in over 15 years.
I don't know how I'd react to a PBR not tasting like the hundreds of PBRs I've had before. I imagine I'd be upset!
Well, to me, it's the same.
