"NSR's dominance over Vinyl City ends today!"
"NSR? Maybe. My music? Highly unlikely. For my music will ripple to the rims of the universe and back!"
All of the songs in NSR go so hard.
Hell Yeah. Especially the Rock Versions
Each boss song in NSR has a normal, EDM, and Rock version. This here was the normal version of the song, ergo: two more versions of it exist.
The interplay of those versions is integral to the boss fights, as it mixes between the different version depending on your performance in said boss fights. Additionally, one of the main selling points of the game is that the beat of each song lines up with the boss's attacks.
All that to say, the music of NSR is integral to the gameplay, it's pretty neat.
Also each section is a phase iirc
Another point is the two characters have their own solo tracks for each boss song as well that people only hear small parts of, but zuke and mayday actually play alongside the entire song. Its very neat and a lot of effort for something you wont hear much of or realise at all.
Someone on UA-cam called Drunken Luna has overlaid a lot of these tracks to hear maydays and zukes solos alongside the songs to hear something you cannot usually hear during gameplay.
I love that Deep Disco therefore implies the Depths of Disco, as a horror concept. Dancing your way down the walls of an abyss of mirrored panels, fog machines and laser lights forever.
NSR LET'S GOOOOOOOO
This game's soundtrack is SO FUCKING GOOD
Basically this game has different zones, with an artist as a boss. Each boss focus on a different genre mixed with electronic, DJ focuses on disco/synthwave while the next one focuses on electro Pop. Each song ALSO has different versions: the base one, EDM, rock, and even christmas which I think is worth listening to. You can rematch all bosses and select which track is gonna play in the background
Don't forget the Encore Edition version of the game that has ANOTHER new version of every boss theme (except for this one funnily enough)!
So glad someone requested this. Funk Fiction (aka Pejman Roozbeh) is one of my favorite western composers and this is yet another fantastic track masterfully crafted by him. This soundtrack has a lot of great tunes not only by this artist, but the rest of the composer team (with each artist basically focusing on different genres of music), so I really hope there are more tracks from this game (or by other games Pejman himself scored) in your backlog.
Also, "Deep Disco" probably would be best described as a fusion of Deep House (itself a mixture of House with strong influences from Jazz and Funk) and Disco rhythms and basslines, which I do find very fitting for this track.
Fun fact: the composers of No Straight Roads also did the music for two well know Sonic Fangames made by Lake Fepperd; Sonic Before the Sequel and Sonic After the Sequel. All of the music in those games are fully original and made by them, and it's one of the best Soundtracks I have heard in a Sonic game that is not even official! They also did the Soundtrack for the Spark the Electric jester games, also made by the same guy, which is a platformer series. These composers are criminally underrated...And it's because of them that it made me interested in NSR.
I have been obsessed with this game's music since I first played it a week ago, and the ingame mix versions are SO incredibly good, and absolutely worth a listen. All the boss tracks are excellent of course, but there's a few other highlights as well, like the approach songs before the boss fights, and the audition song at the start of the game? Excellent. There really isn't a bad song on the album. Throw in the DK West songs and there's just so much there, though the DK West songs are probably best in context of the game because of the fact that it's a rap battle between brothers and it's more like a scene from a drama play than anything else.
This game soundtrack had me hooked months before the game was even out, I heard snippets and the dynamic mixing with the gameplay Demo and the finished soundtrack met and exceeded my hype. There are rock renditions of every one and the community mixes blending the two similar to how you can hear them in game are great in their own right.
The game itself while imperfect is chock full of soul
Aww yeah, it's always a good time when No Straight Roads is involved.
Hell yeah glad you liked it! I recommend looking up Funk Fiction's other stuff on youtube if you ever get extra time he's got other great stuff
There’s so many custom mixes made by youtubers and the official composers, it’s insane. The base versions are great, but those mixes really show the passion they’ve put into NSR’s music
Song mentioned in this video;
Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin

This game is super unique and really has its own fresh ideas going on in it. The soundtracks are super interactive and even though I just played this for the first time this year, I put this games soundtrack in my top five soundtracks easily. Really worth checking out if you haven’t already
most tracks in NSR have dynamic progression, but there's one that just goes hard with it... and it is the one with the V-Tube Idol.
I recommend, if you're up for it, looking out for layered versions of the theme. There are plenty of talented folks on youtube that mix them well, but all versions are quite good.
Don't forget the Christmas mix, that's also pretty good
YESSS YES YESS I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH! XD AHH I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS
I haven't properly listened tot his whole song in so longgg, it's nostalgic, I hope you have tons of fun with it! XD It's really good, in my opinion
I'm streaming this game rn and i love the soundtrack so much
DK WEST ON THE WAY WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ewaaaa
He's our man oh he's the best
West Ouuuuuttttt
Still havent even played this game but I listened to this song so much that it was my number1 spotify song of the year back then.. Its so good, so many layers
What a great choice for the game's first boss encounter, too. Those disco strings.
Hell yea, takes me back to the type of stuff I'd listened to mostly in highschool. I think I get what you mean in trying to put together the genre, it's definitely French House vibes.
Please god do more songs from NSR! they are so damn good
Funk Fiction is fantastic, man. You should check out Sunset Heights or Lunar Bass from Spark the Electric Jester.
laughing cause I requested the tokyo mix of this song a lil while back as well 😂
You did, I just saw that, my apologies. I'll do it later this week.
If you ever listen to other songs from the ost you got to give the In Game Mixes a try, they attempt to match the way the songs play in game as much as possible, the song called "Vs. YINU" in specific just feels better with the in game mix because of all the dynamic shifts, going from classical to edm to rock
I know I'm replying to a one year old comment on a one year old video but I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE there's something super special about hearing both versions- and the phases with a mix inbetween! It just... really feels unique.
I'm so glad and yet so deviated they added the best song in the start of the game
No Straight Roads has taught me there's a place for all genres of music.
Except for Country. Nobody likes Country music.
You schmancy townfolk and your EDM or Rock or whatever... We were using Country to power our tools and bring light into our houses before your genres of music even existed... Kids these day, no respect to their Elders.
Actually I will not lie country music can sometimes go really fucking hard
4:28 Oh my God I'm somewhere in the seventh dimension! 😱
I Frigging Love this game.
DJ SUBATOMIC SUPERNOVA ( man I love that name ) Is my Favorite Artist/Boss in this game. and This is my favorite Track. 🤘🔈🔉🔊🔥
The first boss and the best theme says a lot
NSR has great beats all around.
NSR is a really good game
Play the gameeee, it is one of the best new, FRESH IPs around!
that stranger who recommended that to him which was now recommended to me. i love this song its my new jam
There's a Beta Version of Vs Sayu you gotta give a listen, I prefer the vocals in that one and the lyrics are a little different than the Official Version's.
Dk West can't wait ewa
