Your green collection is making me feel a bit better for my tendency to constantly be drawn to green fountain pens, and then wondering if I perhaps already have too many green pens. The answer is that you can never have enough.
I was able to fix it, and it works well. The retailer finally got back to me but was not apologetic, they instead said that they are experts and they didn't really believe me. I could have sent it back to them, but didn't want someone else buying it and being disappointed.

Great deal on that Conklin, but my minimal experience echoes yours in that pickings are limited and prices crazy for the most pace. When I was younger one could find them at much better prices… before eBay and antique malls.
This is great advice! I'm at the beginning of my pen restoration journey and I wish I'd find this video even sooner.
