- On the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October 2022, the Southern Downs Steam Railway operated a weekend tour travelling the entire length of the "Southern Line" from Toowoomba to the end of the line at the QLD/NSW border town of Wallangarra.
Departing from Stanthorpe mid morning, the train steamed north and descended the Silverwood Range before arriving into Warwick where a catered lunch was again awaiting passengers on the platform. During this time the steam locomotive was taken across to the SDSR Yard for re-coaling and re-watering as well as greasing and oiling of the running gear.
After a change of locomotive crew and the passengers back on board, the train continued its journey north stopping only briefly at Clifton for a passenger to disembark before continuing its final leg of the tour into the "Garden City" to conclude a very successful weekend. The locomotive was turned on the Toowoomba angle before setting of homeward bound to Warwick.
That was pretty neat of 971 on this railroad.
Looks like a great tour. Nice to see QLD looking a bit green too. Thanks for sharing.
