in todays video i explain the differences between Ark PVP and Ark PVE
and the two game styles pro's and con's of each to help you make the best informed decision of which game style you should play
i make 5 selling points as to why you should play player vs player (pvp) and i make 5 selling points to play player vs the environment (PVE)
with great builds on both sides someone would think there couldn't be a HUGE difference surley? well you would be wrong! the building styles alone couldn't be more different, from turrets to glass houses, A must get on and play to i might get on today

ARK SURVIVAL EVOLVED! ( ark survival evolved )
As a man or woman stranded, naked, freezing, and starving on the unforgiving shores of a mysterious island called ARK, use your skill and cunning to kill or tame and ride the plethora of leviathan dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the land. Hunt, harvest resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies, and build shelters to withstand the elements and store valuables, all while teaming up with (or preying upon) hundreds of other players to survive, dominate... and escape! The game is played from either a third-person or first-person perspective and its open world is navigated on foot or by riding a prehistoric animal. Players can use firearms and improvised weapons to defend against hostile humans and creatures, with the ability to build bases as defense on the ground and on some creatures. The game has both single-player and multiplayer options. Multiplayer allows the option to form tribes of members in a server. The max number of tribe mates varies from each server. In this mode all tamed dinosaurs and building structures are usually shared between the members. There is a PvE mode where players cannot fight each other.
Ark is a 2017 action-adventure survival video game developed by Studio Wildcard. In the game, players must survive being stranded on one of several maps filled with roaming dinosaurs, fictional fantasy monsters and other prehistoric animals, natural hazards, and potentially hostile human players.

Great video, as a solo player, I've now decided that PVP is nothing for me. I felt like everything I was doing was meaningless because sooner or later some chinese megatribe will be sweeping the whole map with a wyvern or one of those huge tek robot things and carelessly destroy everything I've worked so hard for for the sole purpose of avoiding possible future competition by keeping everyone on the beach.

getting wiped and see your base destroyed is part of the game it's boring if you dont get wiped and rebuild new base and always thinking of take ravenge ❤
You can still "compete" In PvE. For example, you can see whether you or your friend can build a better-looking house, or breed a better tame.

Hey Solo great video, you made some very good points. And thank you for showing off Wonderland and the very kind words for where we call home.
One point I have found is after playing pve for a while I changed my pvp building to incorporate some of the pve style, this allowed me to hide my fobs better because everyone is always looking for that box build and seem to miss it on the side of a Cliff when it doesn't look like a box 😂
prolly some of the most accurate points for both sides, i retired from pvp a long time ago and the only thing i had fun doing was runnin into people with vests of C4 😂pve is really my new home and so is wonderland, always been a great place and always will be
I can't play pvp because i can't deal with players running like sonic that are almost impossible to hit, yet they hit you everytime with bolas and OP wyverns that kill everything in one hit. The turrets are also completely overpowered because they have aimbot and are basically unbeatable until you ate all the bullets. I'm a PVE player and i think I'll stay this way, i don't really enjoy building something and taming dinos only for some annoying guy to show up in a wyvern to kill me and the parasaur that i just tamed after joining 5min ago
@@diesel4ever273 but doesnt the fact often arise in the mind: "why am i doing this, there is no purpose??" and then a thick carpet of depression slowly clouds your mind, because we as people, are bound to have an underlying purpose with the things we do, in order to feel satisfaction?

I grind 24/7
I like both but no one else plays pve so I just play pvp with my friends I like it it’s just the worry of losing everything and when u get wiped the repetition of getting things back it’s sometime fun but most times draining
Lots of ppl play pve, even on crossplay servers they get full servers on weekends

PvE still has issues with greifers. Building around your base, dragging a player while offline to water to drown them, leading wild gigs and such to a base to destroy it.
That's why I'm mostly just playing single player.
Don't forget people killing the dinos you're trying to tame. Someone burned a yuti i was trying to tame to death with their wyvern just for the hell of it.

6k hours on small tribe/ pocalypse. I hate PVE in a way that it doesnt give me the satisfied feeling of hunting, camping, breaking in to ppl’s bases. But I think I am not good enough for PVP since I am not quick enough, terrible aims and always want to go solo. Its time to go see massive bases with dinos all over the place now. See u my lovely PVP one day.
Years ago I joined PvE by accident. I wanted to kill, destroy people. Then I learned I joined the wrong server and once I finally did i loved it 😈😈😈. But now I have a full time job and its hard to do that while working
well ty for explain in such a good way the diferences of pvp and pve now im convince what kind of experience i would like and im more a pve player cause i dont like to be so frustrated and anxious i like a chill style of playing so again great video and ty for your advice.
i prefer Pve personally, but i have been playing Pvp and have my own server for it,.. but being a god in a server isn't all that,.. The Offline Raid protection is my Fave part ,.. In pvp Every user wants to kill you for being alive, or is sick and walks up to you getting you sick,.. locking a resource down with Xplant,.. but PVE does it with pillars, The stuff they take out that could be abused is is fun stuff in pvp ,like picking up characters with tames.. ultimately, it's up to you
Ive found a good pve/pvp cluster so u can build up in pve and pvp if u want too
I don't quite agree about PvE being relaxed and chilled. You still have to face many challenges and there is still always a reason to be on playing because in ARK there really isn't an end to the game. There is always more you can do, whether it's taming new dinos, breeding another species, building, exploring, or something else.
pve you can also work on most skills like learning how to breed different traps etc diffrent base builds for pvp etc

I prefer pvp but not when dudes think just cause they’re overpowered they feel the need to break into my 3x3 stone house every night when I get off. It’s annoying

I think ARK PvP is slightly unbalanced for many reasons. I prefer PvE because it gives you more freedom to think if unique challenges and ideas. For example, no-engrams challenges or a primitive-tools-only challenge. I also enjoy creative building, and that's impossible in PvP, because to make good builds I need to use mixed materials often, sometime weak things like thatch and wood.
Sometimes single-player is better though. Many servers, for both PvE and PvP, are full of toxic players. I once played on a PvE server full of people who preferred to play alone on a MULTIPLAYER server. Then because I kept trying to get some multiplayer action the game. They accused me of being an ungrateful brat who wants everything handed to me with no grind, when I just wanted to play with other people. And I also paid patron fees in that community.
I’ve never really played this game a lot. Maybe I should have played it more. But I’m always playing alone and after playing a bit I get bored again and quit for a couple of months just to then give it a try again. Although I’m a complete noob I actually quite like the idea of PvP. The thing is, I don’t have a lot of time for gaming. And I’m afraid that people will just destroy everything I’ve worked for for weeks as soon as I go offline. Is there some kind of solution so you I’m safe from that scenario happening?
Hi, not really, and that's unfortunately the risk we all take playing pvp
However if you join a high boosted pvp server say 50x to 100x or even a "fibercraft" server
These types are set up to get you into the action (pvp) within a few hours, sure your still spend say a hour collecting drops and finding somewhere to store stuff but usually drops give you everything and I mean like every type of weapon and saddle and building structures so when you do finally get killed or raided it's really not the end of the world more just the end of that day 😂 and so you start again tomorrow and straight back into the fight a hour or so later :)

@samoeraionblitz4338 that's a offline raid protection (ORP) server, most players usually spend Monday to Friday building up and breeding then weekends everyone raids everyone 😂
Can be great fun on the weekends however these types of servers struggle to keep pop up, because once you've built everything really your stuff is actually safer with you offline, so alot of tribes just stop logging back into the server they play on

Yeah official PvP is something else. I work almost full time, sometimes overtime approaching 60 hours. I just don't have time worry about my base getting wiped or raided. Official PvP do makes you want to get on everyday for kany hours. Thats bad for mental and physical health.
I remember every time i logged on the alpha tribe will be on. It seems like that tribe get no sleep at all.
new palyer here. my thought is that im not gonna play pvp because i dont like wasting 200 hours to get everything destroyed. however, pve is also highly unsatisfying in the way that its basically purposeless. as a competetive minded person, "building a pretty house and chilling" is something people who like to waste their life does (no offense intended). guess im just gonna play on private server with friends or single player. because pve is basically just single player but with annoying rats stealing resources that you cant kill (other players)
You may find "purge" more your style
The average purge server usually runs kinda pve Mon to Thurs so everyone can build up and then Friday to Sunday is full pvp
But pre warning
Most bases are wiped every weekend 😂
Turrets and turret ammo for first 4 weeks then grind every day so you don't loose your turrets
PvP I would never play as players can just grief players who is trying to build up a base and it gets stressful as you may build a small base but gets killed before placing a bed and possibly that player will destroy it and you spawn randomly and you're vulnerable to any attacks.
PvE is great for getting to know the game but I got put off on where you need to be online constantly or you'll lose your progress (except character level) but still good as a beginner playthrough.
Singleplayer is my pick as you go at your own pace and you can pop on whenever you want with the only threat is the carnivores on the map.
Beginners go on PVE to learn the ropes plus if players constantly play with others.
Singleplayer is for anyone who knows the basics but is a gamer who goes on different games and pops on ark after a while without fear of losing the base and dinos.
PvP are for the pros and competitive players. Speed runners might try the challenge if they can speed run a PvP server and beat one or all the bosses as quickly as possible.
Pvp shur does keep you more engaged for real purge on our cluster is the last weekend of every month and that's fine for me plenty of time to plan and half the maps are orp and the other half I'd not orp protected
Sorry I had to edit what I said b.c I messed it up lol I like purge once a month Friday at 5pm till Monday at 6 am that gives you time to prepare and plenty of time to pick your target and blow shit up lol

Nah it's boring. Official PvP is no joke. People have jobs , a life, doing other things. I rather not get wiped or raided
PVP in Ark is horrible. No matter how big we got, some Chinese hackers would Ddos our server, kick everyone and destroy everything. I never tried PVE but I feel like for the new Ark, I'm getting on PVE and just focus on the game. Pvp is all about who can out cheat the other team to be honest.

me i know how to stack walls etc the best taming trap , get resources but i dont have a lot of experience fighting but im probaly going to take a break from pvp i got raided for the 6th time and im the most activate player in my tribe
I'm more of a pve player, but the PVE sounds boring. like are there NPCs in the game that challenge you or just the usual survive for another day
In pve you generally make your own challenges like doing the boss fights and or breeding for new muts
But apart from that it's more player the story mode and make some friends :)

Great video but you forgot to add the degen experiences from pvp vs pve
Pvp - meshers,teaming,aimbot,hackers
Pve - most of the maps have been pillard off and all the best build spots have been taking and sometimes never get built on
Don't forget people locking you inside your base by building gates around it, dropping/luring wild dinos to your base (such as gigas or titanosaurs), meshing structures/rafts inside your structures/rafts, and killing dinos you want to tame (example: Someone burning a yuty you were taming to death with a wyvern)

Watching this video it sounds like you need to put a thousand hours a week into PvP haha. But does it really consume such a big part of your life? Because I would like to try it, but I don’t have a lot of time to play games unfortunately:/
Yeah your tribe would most likely expect probably most nights for multiple hrs on a pvp server
@@hestine7845 I know in a lot of games with clans (like clash of clans, world of tanks blitz, clash royale) there are often clans that just aren’t as active and allow players like me to join. Is this a thing too in ark? Or is everyone hypercompatitive
@@samoerai6807 it’s a thing if you know someone irl that plays the game that way, I used to play with 1 other person and we would just go on either solo or together whenever we got the chance and we progressed a lot in the game on the Island map, but they don’t play anymore unfortunately, what server region are you in? You could always check Reddit, ask on chat in game or maybe try discord to find other players

@@samoerai6807 hi, when you log onto the game it takes you to a list of servers, instead of pressing the ‘play last played server’ button see which server(s) has a star next to it and that’s the one you play, it could be an EU server but you could have just as easily gone on an OC or NA server etc. it’ll say the region the server is located in and it’s number, it’s worth knowing in case the game glitches at any point which happens quite a bit or if you want to play with someone else so they can join your server :)

Morning, are you on a "purge" server?
Basically purge servers turn structure damage off during the week and then turn it on for weekends
Or if your on a ORP (offline protection) server then can only damage structures when the tribes online
For a pvp server if any1 is on PS4 go on coles crack shack it’s not toxic,active admins, fair
