Great game, actually all the games I have watched so far show every UK team playing really open rugby. Its great to see coaches encouraging this. Fabulous.
loved this game, Scotland can take a lot of positives from this some great attacking, got to remember this was an experimental team and game, the Scotland of only a few years ago would have cracked against the strong Samoan comeback in the 2nd half.
Enjoyed the game as a neutral, Samoa are a team that always present a physical challenge but they are so much more than just that now. Scotland have some very talented players in Jones Dunbar and a few others. After the lack of Lions presence I feel that they can make a mark in the 6 nations.
Samoa always a physical team and a proper test to the forwards. No discredit to them though, played like absolute lions, considering the turmoil they had before hand! Love REAL teams, love Samoa.
My second Murrayfield experience, and the first for my Dad-in-law and his Mum who are both Rugby daft. Scotland made me (and many others I presume) sweat at this game though. The defence and handling errors were pretty woeful. They shouldn't have been letting Samoa score tries immediately after theirs.
With the right belief and tactics Scotland can rattle NZ we saw what happened when France trucked it up and got nasty, they will need to match NZ physically and mentally. Cracking games of rugby this weekend 💪✌
To people worrying about the performance. I believe Townsend was trying new moves and styles of rugby in this match. If you're going to try new attacks and types of play you're better to do it against a side like Samoa, than against NZ or Australia. I'm sure next week will see a more reserved Scotland with the same attacking pace they showed today.
NZ are playing France again on Tuesday. Then they have a 4 day turnaround before they play Scotland. If Scotland sure up their defence, and play slightly more conservatively, I smell an upset.
Our defense needs improvement otherwise was a good effort boys..Tuala makes some of the mistakes that cost us the game and makes it hard on themselves but overall wasn't too bad..Learn from it and move on usos..good luck on the next one..cheeeeehooooooooo
Samoa's rugby has been down for several years since the summer of 2013. It's been getting worse every year. This season, Samoa has yet to win a single game.
Townsend inherited a great glasgow team built by Sean Lineen, and won the league. Now he inherited a good team built by Vern Cotter, he’s not going to win the 6nations with this style of rugby though.. Try’s came from luck apart from the drives, and there was no phase play. If they don’t score quickly I’m not sure he’ll be able to coach them to score against a solid defence🤷🏻♂️
Townsend brought in key players like Matawalu and Nakarawa that guided Glasgow to Pro 12 success. Then he took Glasgow to their first Champions cup quarter final. He turned Hogg and Russel into the world class players they are today. Cotters relative success was down to townsends work at Glasgow.
Nah but judging by the All Blacks and Aussie game we might stand a chance with the 6N. He's done something that's made our already decent team even more decent.
People can dress it up but the reality is that it was a poor performance from Scotland. Yes, it is true there was always going to be rust given that the real scotland team hadnt played since the 6 nations, but thats an issue in terms of attack - it cannot be used as an excuse in defense im sorry to say. England showed it in their game, the attack was off but defensively they were bang on the money. Scotland didnt just leak 38 points, but they leaked those points in soft fashion to a team which was for all intents and purposes, thrown together in two weeks. Really disappointing that Scotland didnt achieve those mini-victories within the overall victory and it will require a huge improvement over the next two games.
Yeah, when I say 'the real Scotland team', Im talking about this side with all its usual players, not the chopped and changed one we saw at the end of the season. I just think Scotland are capable of far better and I dont think we can expect to just turn up and defend better, it has to be a gradual process and one of cotinually meeting standards. We simply didn't meet the standard we have set in previous matches and it was disappointing from that perspective.
At least they will be better than Wales , every game they have played since 2013 seems to be a carbon copy of the last. If they beat South Africa, so what?. Nothing will have been learned. Scotland are playing to their strengths which is all any team can do. They will shock a few big teams once in a while , but lack strength in depth compared to England.
The ref made a mistake 49 mins into the game, Samoa did not score a try. There was a leg in the way and when he tried again, his arm and Ali's hand were in the way therefore it was not a try. Apart from that, I really enjoyed myself today, brilliant game and the atmosphere was brilliant🏉.
5SecondsofDougie they both played well. Great game Scotts! Well deserve win! They put everything in there. I hope my Samoan’s can bounce back next week. Wish both teams all the best!
Sonny Mateaki I honestly thought Samoa were going to take it from us right at the last minute. Both teams were outstanding. I also wish Samoa and Scotland the best of luck with the rest of the tests.
It looked like a try-scoring fest or marathon. Thing is, Samoa, play well for the full 80 minutes. Don't let the other team to pile up on points and then you try to play catch up.
World Rugby needs to do better by Samoa, especially because so much of the money that the other nations have come both directly and indirectly from historic and current exploits in the Pacific Islands. If they can push a team like Scotland with hardly any resources, imagine the kind of team they could field with the proper resources. SCARY.--> Probably why World Rugby keep ignoring them, Tonga, and Fiji. A well-funded Samoan national team is only going to be good for the game. This gets to be too hard to watch as there is a clear discrepancy in access to adequate resources. RAcist excuses continue to be made as to why the rugby community (Big-Wigs and players alike) don't have to front up, but I think that if you are going to pay one team to show up for a match and shaft the other team, then that "puts the game in disrepute" as Rugby's Big Brother likes to often say when silencing/punishing players. As a fan, watching players be mistreated puts the game into disrepute.
Samoa Moni Its got nothing to do with money. If yer talented yer talented, it doesn't matter how much money someone has or Club has. Some of the worlds beat athletes started off without money, with their passion, determination and talent they made it big.
5SecondsofDougie, true, but it's both. If you don't have money, how can you attract and develop talent? Manu Tuilagi does not play for Samoa because Samoa does not have the money. But England does and that is why he plays for England.
Lol Onosa'i. Maybe things will get better under coach Tafua. It takes time. But I understand your frustration. It sucks to stay up late or wake up early in the morning to watch Manu and Toa play poorly and lose. It wouldn't be so bad if they lose and at least play well. Ae onosa'i, ai a lelei le 'au i le tausaga fou.

Good game. Congratulations Scotland. Good to see the Manu going for it.

Great game Manu

Seige CJ I'm pretty sure one of the team said it in an interview that he's trying new tactics.
ggge lol You never know how any team will perform until the game has started. Not even the teams know how good or bad they perform until the game.

Well done Scotland very good game . Respect from Ireland

Poly Girl what does this have to do with the Manu?
Poly Girl yeah true, I'm pissed off, cause they always lose
BeastMode 88, she probably doesn't know the difference between league and union.
TALANOA MAI lol it's not easy. 😂
Mafu Mafaufau you dead right but the game is going to be a professional maybe?
Finn Russelllll CRRACK 👌

Our defense needs improvement otherwise was a good effort boys..Tuala makes some of the mistakes that cost us the game and makes it hard on themselves but overall wasn't too bad..Learn from it and move on usos..good luck on the next one..cheeeeehooooooooo
The fact samoa arent in the world cup is a shock...

C. M Their defense wasn't as strong as it usually is but they did do some outstanding defending. Their attacking was a lot better.
C. M Didn't Scotland beat Australia in Sydney in July or something?
Yeah, when I say 'the real Scotland team', Im talking about this side with all its usual players, not the chopped and changed one we saw at the end of the season. Wat is up with the poor video quality?
they were there own worst enemy making silly mistakes as always

Lol I know g but the people behind the scenes have fucked it all up
All I ever see is Samoa getting pumped, yous train and train but always lose,
Anthony Sefo lol.

Marlos Craigan it really should have.
5SecondsofDougie and the last Scotland try was from a forward pass. Rugby is not perfect
Marlos Craigan no need to be defensive then. See how you go tonight then ha ha
It looked like a try-scoring fest or marathon. Thing is, Samoa, play well for the full 80 minutes. Don't let the other team to pile up on points and then you try to play catch up.

Hahahah when samoa does better than Australia against Scotland
Sao lelei Malo uso lol
Scotland just struggled against a team who's rugby Union is bankrupt
Somerled Henderson, not entirely. Money is used to develop talent.
Somerled Henderson, yes, but NZ's rugby system had the money.
That's because they were trying new tactics against them. Aye they may no have been the best in some areas but we still won.
Samoa Moni Its got nothing to do with money. If yer talented yer talented, it doesn't matter how much money someone has or Club has. Some of the worlds beat athletes started off without money, with their passion, determination and talent they made it big.
