Can't get your edges sharp? This is most often because the sidewall is causing interference. A Sidewall Remover is without question the most overlooked yet most important tool to have in your kit. Precisely & effortlessly removes the sidewalls on any ski or board.
    KEY FEATURES
A precision machined professional tool with aluminium guide.
    Stainless steel anti-friction glide plate.
Tool holder with adjustable stainless steel shaft.
Carbide cutter of your choice & allen key(s) to adjust cutter as needed.
    Roller bearing stabilizer.
    BENEFITS
Easy to use & setup for any level.
The stabilization system rolls perfectly steady down the side-edge so you can confidently and precisely remove the desired amount of sidewall and prevent any chatter marks.
The stainless steel plate gives added tool longevity and better anti-friction gliding characteristics on the base.
Removing the sidewall creates clearance allowing the file to sharpen the edges at your desired angle and therefore used prior to side-edge sharpening whenever interference occurs.
If not removed the sidewall will interfere with the file or stones ability to contact the steel making it impossible sharpen your edges.
    CHOOSING THE APPROPRIATE CUTTER
The Round Standard cutter (gold) is typically used for 'sandwich' construction skis. They are more universal than square cutters and work well on all skis and particularly for those new to removing their sidewalls.
The Round Sharp cutter (grey) have a sharp edge and therefore work amazingly well on certain brands of skis, typically harder sidewalls found typically on competitive skis.
The Square cutter is typically used for 'cap' construction skis however it also works well on all types of skis and boards especially for those who are more naturally skilled with their hands.
The Multi cutter has two round corners and two square corners for those who want to be able to do all types of sidewall with the same tool.
Used by: Alpine Racers, All-mountain and Snowboarders.

Watch our video(s) how to tune adult skis and under the sidewall tool on www.sidecut.com you also find a sidewall video. There you'll learn more about set up of square cutters.

I wish it showed the correct roll on the carbide cutting tip. It just says a small twist. Is that 90 degrees? I always get bad chatter

Bad chatter is most commonly caused from pressing too hard. Solution = start very slow until the cutter engages very slow with very little downward pressure...once it engages you can increase the pressure slightly and let up again at the opposite end of the ski or board. Also, take long passes, do not stop or take small short passes. Fix the existing chatter marks with our Topsheet Removal Tool and/or sandpaper until smooth again.

If I have a new set of skis. How many times can I sharpen them with My Files before It's necessary to cut the sidewall, Generally speaking?

Good question. You need to remove your sidewall (or at least some of it) prior to sharpening. Depending how much sidewall you remove will determine how many times you can sharpen before removing more sidewall. Hope this helps.

@sidecuttuning so you're recommending removing sidewall prior to every true Sharpening? (I assume not when just using diamond stone. Just when filing?)

You remove sidewall if you see the colour of your sidewall on the diamond stone (or any stone) OR in the teeth of the file. You'll need to have your sidewall tool handy ALL THE TIME because you don't want the sidewall to interfere with your ability to get the edge(s) sharp. @@carterfan80

Thanks very much. The point really is you need a sidewall remover (you can't do a proper job without one) and you'll use it when needed....which will be a lot!!@@carterfan80
