Since you mentioned the weight did you by chance weigh the set to see if it conforms to the NMRA standard?
The NMRA does not have an official standard for weight. I can tell you, however, that the car does feel pretty hefty out of the box.
I wish they would make a southern Pacific fantasy scheme
