Taiwan’s new President Lai Ching-te sent a message to Beijing today through his inauguration speech. He asked Beijing to accept Taiwan as a democracy. Lai also issued a warning to China’s PLA to stop “threatening Taiwan politically and militarily”. However, Beijing seems to pay no heed to Lai’s warning. Before Lai took office, China slammed him for being a “dangerous separatist” and dismissed any prospect of dialogue. Apart from Beijing’s threats, Lai also faces challenges at home. On the eve of new President’s inauguration, people and supporters of opposition TPP party held protests against the ruling DPP, expressing their discontentment towards the ruling government. How will Lai regain the trust of the people and what will be his strategy to counter Chinese aggression? Palki Sharma tells you more.

Democracy is not Perfect nor is Communism however as a Citizen of a Democratic Country i choose Democracy.
Communism and Democracy are useless distinctions. What matters most is whether the government is working for the people or not.
You may have democracy where parties fight one another and nothing gets done.
Or communism where the leader is a self serving dictator and again nothing gets done.
Or something in between where citizens are actively participating, its officials are elected based on experience and merit. Leaders, with vision, steering/ governing the country towards progress.

Before talking about independence, first delete the saying that "Taiwan is a province of China" in the Taiwan Constitution。
It is not Taiwan. It is Republic of China. Taiwan is the name of an island. Republic of China is the government that governs the Taiwan, and also claims Mainland China in its constitution. In 1970s, Republic of China still have plans to take back Mainland China. But due to the fast growth of People's Republic of China in mainland, those plans no longer feasible. But regardless, both Republic of China and People's Republic of China are in suspended Civil War. And when the Civil War concludes, it will be united under one government, be it Republic of China or People's Republic of China.
So, be very clear: Taiwan is not a nation. It is a geological term. Don't try to confuse people.

China is a poor developing nation with 600 million people that make less than $1.5 USD a day. China only wants you to see the 1st tier cities and goes to great lengths to censor any information showing how poor most of the country really is. If you drive 45 minutes in any direction outside of a 1st tier city and it looks like a poor African country. They don't even have running water in a lot of places. Xi even had "toilet revolution" where he wanted to have toilets installed in the rural areas and it was a massive failure. In typical Chinese fashion all the money was stolen through corruption and very few toilets were installed. Rural people in China are treated like 2nd class citizens. These are the people that travel to urban areas to work in the Chinese sweat shops where they get paid less than $1 an hour to do all kinds of low end manufacturing. If they aren't urban residents, they don't get any of the benefits of living in the city, like their children can't go to the schools and they aren't able to go to the hospitals. Rural people are looked down upon. They are treated like black people in apartheid South Africa back in the day. It's a completely different country and people in Taiwan. They have access to the internet and are more cultured and well traveled people. In China just 30 years ago everyone in China was a poor rice farmer riding bicycles. Taiwan has been a developed rich flourishing democracy for a long time.

Chiang did not claim to be president until a month after that. so ROC already cease to exist for a month before the Taipei regime try to reestablish ROC. without the handover of power from Li Zhongren to CHiang, it does not have the legit right to represent ROC and is a rogue government of the ROC. without the National Assembly, ROC has no legitimacy, how can you claim to be independent if you do not control the majority of the territory and population as stated in the ROC constitution? it would be as silly as Trump losing the election to Biden in 2020 and a month later the Texas governor claims to be president of US. there is no way Biden would accept that.
