Actually a couple of solid boxes. I got the same Steven R. auto too. The Canvas cards in this are absolutely fantastic. The pictures of the players, especially the goalies are just great.
As for the best autograph? I really can't choose 1. Any of the older players from back in the day seemed to take more pride in signing so there are so many with great autographs. Gretzky's is definitely in the top end of the list. Not just for value but it's very iconic and eye catching. But there are so many that could be at the top.
Great and fun box break!
I like Reinprecht well enough, but I have too many BAP Signatures memories from the early to mid 2000s to be excited in pulling his again lol The second box was sneakily good, I didn't even clue in to the Briere being one of the tough '97 Legends cards to pull until after recording...once again, lots of BAP Signatures memories of his autos being good, but not fantastic. And you got it, the Canvas cards are amazing and there is just something to be said about high-res photos of the NHL's yesteryear. It feels like every picture tells a tale...case in point when I broke off into the tangent about Denis Herron, just because of his Kansas City Scouts canvas card.
Gretzky's signature is truly iconic. The way I look at it is if you close your eyes and you can actually picture what the player's autograph looks like, it is definitely iconic.
You mentioned Cross played for the Oilers 20 years ago. I immediately went "no f'ing way, not that long ago"... Then I thought about it... Holy crap, it was 20 years ago
Aside from the obvious choices of legendary player signatures, my biased choice is my PC player, Ville Nieminen. Always consistent and takes the time to write the jersey number he’s wearing in the card/photo he’s signing. I was hoping he would make it into a product like this.
I always thought Teemu Selanne had the nicest auto in the hobby. Honorable mentions to Brent Burns and Yegor Sharangovich!
Selanne's signature is absolutely one of the all-time great ones. Burns' is definitely a distinct one. I had to look up Yegor's, but it definitely does have an elegance to it not often seen nowadays.
I would say Jean Béliveau. From the stories I heard about him he always took the time to make sure his signature was readable.
Beliveau's is definitely an all-time great signature.
My fave relatively modern auto fave has to be Daniel Briere, surprisingly. It's well done
Edit: haha I wrote that comment before watching to the end lmao
