I have 2 daughters that work there. One is a bartender and the other is a waitress. They love their job and the owners are a great family to work for! I hope you enjoyed your visit!
Long time Abom79 viewer from Amarillo, started watching when you were building the round welding table, went back and watched all the previous and every post since then, both channels. I do enjoy the cooking parts by the way but I intended to learn lathe and milling work from one of the best. I should have sent a message to you to get in touch if passing thru Amarillo, knew if you did you stop at Big Texan. I live west of town and my next door neighbor is the manager at Big Texan, we do eat there once in a while even though it is about a 40 mile round trip to go there from home. They do have a free meal deal on you birthday only, prime rib, best in Amarillo. I usually have the ribeye Dallas cut . Way more than I can eat but great leftovers. Hate that we missed meeting you, glad you enjoyed your stay here. By the way it was high in the 80's when you were here I believe, today it is high of 21 with 2 or 3 inches of snow so far.
As a trucker, I visit The Big Texan quite often. Awesome place! The funny thing is with that steak contest. The winner or the person who set the record is a woman who weighs like a hundred and twenty pound. LOL. I think she has done it three times or so and her record is around like 8 minutes.
@@AbomAdventures It was Molly Schulyer (Spelling?) and she ate three whole 72 oz. challenge meals in less than half an hour (yeah that's nuts). I can't even imagine. The video is on UA-cam. The Big Texan is OK in my book, but their country fried steak (what I call chicken fried steak) is awful. I live about a 100 miles south of there and have eaten there many times. Loved seeing you two having a great time. I always get a little hesitant because it's such a tourist trap, but it looks like ya'll had fun. Glad to have you in my home state.
Lived in Amarillo for over 30 years and I've eaten at The Big Texan maybe 5 times, 4 of those were on Christmas because it's one of the only places open. It's a tourist trap, most locals never eat there. So many better options for a good steak here!
Shout out from Amarillo! Glad y'all had fun in our city, next time you come through you will have to check out even more stuff....like the Palo Duro Canyon, the Panhandle-Plains Historical museum, and more. I am glad you had a nice time in Amarillo.
You guys are awesome! Thanks for sharing. I have drove past that place numerous times and never stopped. After watching I’m gona have to give it a try.
Big Texan is greatness. We live in Amarillo, and eat there on occasion. You should have had the pick you up in their limo with the longhorns on the front
America Baby!!! That's a Dinosaur slab of udder perfection!!! That whole place has great food. Been there 20 times or more over the last 40 years of truckin and never ever been disappointed or let down!! Good folks take pride in their lively hood!!
Good morning and Happy Birthday! We waited until this morning to watch this video and OMG! You guys never disappoint with how good we feel while watching your adventures! You two are hilarious! Abbey...you made Adam's Birthday very special and it was wonderful to feel as if we were a part of the celebration! ( Richard and I always try to go early to avoid crowds too!) We were literally holding our breath as we waited to see if Adam's steak was up to par! That smile said it all! You guys are simply the best and we adore you! OH! And that cake though! 😋Yum! Thankyou again for sharing so much of yourselves with us. You are so genuine and that is refreshing! 😊
Great place, we took the kids there a couple of years ago for the first time and we all loved it. We now stop every time we head to Pagosa Springs, Durango and Silverton. They also have free limo (with long horn hood ornament) from and back to your hotel. Never ordered the Tomahawk but will next time. Love the videos, both adventure and shop.
Happy birthday big fella! Just turned 70 on the 26th and feel that it may be the new 80. Meanwhile, thank you for inviting us to share your birthday And it is a real treat to be at your party, thanks. You are two lucky kids!
My wife and I went through Amarillo back in February on a Minneapolis to Phoenix round trip (2 long days of driving each way). Sadly we didn't have time to eat, but we did swing by on the way back to pick up some chocolate cake and some carrot cake. We finally got to eat it when we stopped for the night in Oklahoma City. Needless to say, due to the size of the cake we didn't finish it until we got back home to Minnesota. It was a fun place and we'll definitely go there for a steak someday.
I was hooked on your machining videos and now I have a lathe, lol. But your travel adventures are awesome as well. Love how you and Abby spend quality time together. Well done:)
Competitive eater Molly Schuyler ate THREE of the 72 ounce steak dinners in 20 minutes ( the first in 4 minutes 18 seconds) in 2015. You just have to eat one in 60 minutes to get it free. You are such a sweet couple.
Wow, this is similar to why my wife and I did last week. Though she wouldn’t let me take my truck said it would use too much diesel and for the savings we could get a cabin. We left Texas stayed in Amarillo, we didn’t get out any in Amarillo bc covid. That steak place was packed! Colorado was nice the business owners thanked us for being there.
Happy Birthday Adam! We have eaten at the Big Texan twice in our travels from MN to CA back around 2000. Back then we were Serenaded by Miranda’s, very cool!
The ending was funny. 😸 You 2 are just naturally funny people. That steak was insane. Tourist trap can be very fun even if you live there. Tombstone, Arizona is a huge tourist trap but you bet your ass I've gone there on Helldorado Days to enjoy the reenactments and all the vendors there selling cool stuff! If you're enjoying it, it's a good place to be regardless. :)
I only live a few miles from the Big Texan. I need to go back. Y’all made it look awesome. Appreciate that y’all enjoyed it and didn’t think it was a worthwhile tourist attraction.
I enjoy your videos we are from Amarillo Texas. Its a great place to eat. Happy birthday 🎂 🥳 that was a big steak I couldn't eat that much. Hope you guys enjoy Amarillo Texas. Safe travel
Amirilo KOA is where we stopped on the way home last winter From Mesa to Champaign Illinois. Actually a nice campground. Even though its at the airport it wasn't noisy at all. I don't think it lines up with the runway. Only 1 row of campers when we were there but the site was very level and a pull through.to boot. You did pretty good checking out the Big Texan.
A friend of mine had the 72 oz steak meal & finished it within the time limit of 60 minutes around 30 years ago. We were coming back home from a ski trip to Colorado & had a early dinner. It was good. Anthony
Thank you for the tourist trap info. I hope they are still there when we visit Texas too. Mine is 11-01-1976 so I will assume you were close by so Happy Birthday Scorpio!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM !!! Iv'e heard about the Big Texan Steakhouse but have never been their, looks like a nice place. If ya'll drop down to Iterstate-10 to go back home you will go thru Beaumont Texas. While driving thru Beaumont you will only be 11 miles from my house. Safe travels ya'll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Big Texan Steak House is the Greatest! I had the filet steak there and it's hands down the "Best Steak I Have Ever Eaten In My Life" and the Staff there are Wonderful.
Aloha you-all, Adam the main difference between us is the bone, I would have had to polish the bone, I agree a steak dinner is about the steak!!!!!!! I hope you had a wonderful time on this trip and I look forward to your next adventure, you two complement one another, it's so nice to see. Mahalo nui loa for sharing with us.
Love the Big Texan. You should have tried the calf fries. Come back any time. Next time go to Cadillac ranch and paint your names on the cars. Same highway just the other side of town.
As Willie Nelson says..."On the road again....." You two had a vacation of a lifetime in Colorado and Utah, thanks for sharing it with us. BTW, the volcano you saw on your left from Hwy 64/87 is Capulin Volcano National Monument, an extinct volcano. You can drive a spiral road all the way to the crater edge, then hike down the inside of the crater to the center (yeah!!! another hike!!!). Along the way, you can see large blocks of rock and all kinds of volcanic material that didn't make it out of the crater. From the top, after a snow storm, you can see the snow filled ridges on several lava flows that went out from the volcano...they look like zebra stripes...very pretty.
I love that place when I was driving a truck I used to past it all the time and my dad wanted me to go in there and eat that 72 oz steak. It scared the hell out of me LOL there ain't no way I could eat that. You guys look like you're having so much fun this is really enjoyable thank you for the video
Adam, happy birthday again. It was a real pleasure seeing you all having that conversation at The Big Texan. It was like I was a third party sitting at the same table with you at that moment having a good time. Also, I was hoping you ordered the tomahawk steak especially because I've never had one and have recently been thinking about getting one.
something for Abby....since she likes Cavenders Cowboy stores...the first store was opened in Tyler Texas...and the Cavenders live in a small town south of Tyler called Bullard Texas...thats where I am from...and I just want to say that the Cavenders are a very nice family I have known them for years...just good ole East Texas people!!
Food looks great. Too bad the tomato and red onion didn't get tasted...they are a great side with beef. Seems like the cook E knows his stuff, nicely charred and medium rare inside.
I've watched your ABOM79 channel for a long time. Saw you had another channel. I was born in Amarillo. Thanks for sharing 😊. Ya'll are Fantastic Fun people!!! Your wife is so funny!
Just up the road from Big Texas is the Big Texas RV park which we stayed at when we came through Amarillo and it was a real nice place to stay also. We could not get in the KOA and they recommended Big Texas RV. They have a shuttle from RV park to the steak house.
Two most wholesome people on the internet. You all are awesome

A Taylor I believe that’s the story in the cup. Another crazy thing is it says she ate that steak in like 10 minutes!

I don’t think that’s normal. Amazing to think a human body can hold that much food. Wth??

We drove through Pagosa Springs and had no idea that nice little town was there. Looked like a great place to visit.
Great place to take a bath, (in the springs). And now back to TOT. Waiting for your next shop vid.
THANK YOU!! I've driven by that place 5 or 6 times, on my way "elsewhere", and always wondered about it. Very entertaining!
Continued joy and success!
