Fabulous idea. You could spend £80+ for a Lie-Nielsen (for a tool you use only occasionally and without any persistent wear on the edge - but I'm not crazy or rich), or do this for next to nothing. Thanks for the inspiration.
The Lie-Nielsen is $125. It may be beautiful but that's a lot of money for one chisel. I don't see the down side to trying this and probably quite satisfying to use considering the money saved.
Not for this. I have two wheels on my grinder; one for removing metal fast and a more expensive higher grit wheel for lathe chisels. I only ever dress the more expensive wheel for lathe chisels.
Thank you you've saved me a lot of time and money, much appreciated.

Enjoyed fishtail idea.
Thanks for sharing. I was wondering why you were doing this, thanks for explaining.

brilliant man. I would have bought one of these but they're either too expensive, or totally unavailable.
Meta comment: Looking so much better with the beard.
Now that's a proper Offerman beard. Did you dress your wheel? Maybe unnecessary, but great practice makes great things.

I was in the market for a honing guide, went to your Amazon Store and the one you use is NOT listed. Can you fill me in?
I just added it. Your support is appreciated! www.garagewoodworks.com/GW-azn.php#sharp
The link I posted looks WAY over priced. I don't have an alternate link (I'm going to remove it from my store). Sorry.
Dovetail project next?
Half blind? Next time I make another drawer.
