Vathia ( Βάθεια in Greek) is a good, yet sad, example of modern Greece's abjection. You might be surprised knowing that in relatively recent years, during the '80 and early '90, the towers of the village were renovated by the Greek Tourism Organisation (ΕΟΤ) in order to become tourist accomodations. Actually the traditional village had been used in many brochures of the time. After that sort period they went back to their original owners, but due to hereditary complications were once more abandoned.Almost every summer that i visit the village more and more towers have collapsed during winter time and none seems to able to do something in order to prevent total distruction...it is so heartbreaking
Those cricket sounds may be a geeko ,salamander I was in Athens in 79 on a visit to a wooded area a small geiko when we got close that sound would stop then going away they made this sound with their throats. Your tour is amazing here ,it might of became onandoned after the death of the person who was developing the structures ,he may of been a commercial fisherman. Just us and the crickets lol.🙂 It's an old world beauty .thanks for these never before scenes ,well appreciated .
Thank you again for this wonderful Video. We were there end of august and we were also alone in Vathia. If you come back again you have to watch the sundown from the hill of Vathia. Its so fantastic! Last year we took 2 days in Gerolimenas we stayd there for 2 days. By night teh rocks are illuminated. And the water is soooooooo blue and clear and warm. The Mani is so quiet and wonderful. If all works good for me and my hubby, we will stay there forever
How nice, having never been to mainland greece before doing a tour of Mani really opened our eyes to what an incredible region it is. Fond memories and hungry to explore more of Greece, probably the north next!
You have done it again Memory Seekers, found the most beautiful places away from the crowds.
Thank you!

@@MemorySeekers Thessaloniki, Halkidiki peninsula and mountain Olympus wait you in north Greece. You're always welcome.
Есть Греция и все остальные. Что за краски!
Sorry we tried to translate but did not understand.
@@MemorySeekers There are Greece and others... What the colors!
Complimenti (anche per la pronuncia inglese) . Ti consiglio, se posso, Anafi.

Use an umbrella for shade
Obviously, somebody lives there. They feed the cows.
There's only 1-2 houses. It's a real shame.
Cows eat grass???...do they need to be fed grass???
@@garyroberts3859 there's many rocks and not much grass, so the cows food needs to be supplemented with extra food.
@@dinogreece yes well I don’t know for sure but there was plenty of greenery and dry grass...cows can live well in some barren landscapes
The background music is repetitive and boring and is not required ... at least turn the VOLUME doen a few notches !
Thank you for your feedback, this is a pretty old video now and we have learnt a lot since then about presenting, when music is needed and volume.
