Mostly for the climb back up! but also so the water doesn't shred our feet.

The real question is: Why wouldn't you where shoes when cliff jumping? Much safer...

Jumping with shoes on is better for cliffs 60 feet and under. If theres a chance you hit the rocks at the bottom its better to have shoes on for that. Sometimes people forget to point their toes when jumping and can kinda slam their feet flat-footed in the water, the climb back up is easier. Dont wear shoes if your jumping 60+ foot cliffs though because it creates a bigger surface area and when your moving fast enough and you hit the water with shoes on (especially when you don’t point your toes) the water can actually cause your knees to come up and hit you in the face
