I absolutely loved his version in the recording for the 25th Anniversary at the O2! I'm reliving the chills I had then! I wish I could see this in person one day! Kyle will also be dearly missed. I keep the entire cast in my prayers.
All you Mr. Boe fans - must watch the "Freddie Mercury Saved My Life - with Alfie Boe" - very insightful into his development as an artist and his passion and soul - loved it! He is the real deal, and the whole package - how refreshing - how inspiring!
Fabulous interview. Funny, poignant, and a lovely salute to @alfieboe and Les Mis. Illuminates the depth and subtleties of the role - and how well this man is suited to inhabit Jean Valjean.
i hate paul wontorek. i love hearing alfie boe talk about his craft. i work in theatre so it's not often i hear a talented vocalist speak so intelligently about acting. his dedication and thoghtfulness towards the character is really admirable. he really is MY jean valjean
I cannot even begin to say how incredibly disrespectful it is to post this video after the tragedy that occurred this week. Broadway.com staff, I am extremely disappointed in you.
I don't see how this is disrespectful. The world doesn't stop because someone passes away and the Les Mis page has already paid tribute to Kyle and is dimming the theatre's lights in his honor. This video was probably filmed a while ago anyway and is now being released since Alfie Boe has finally joined the cast.
+chorusnerd44 There should have been some extra footage taken to pay respects. What I will say for them is this ideo would have been filmed weeks ago whilst Boe was in rehearsals for the piece. You are right though, to release this on scheduel with Boe's first performance they should have found time somewhere to pay tribute to Kyle.
+Aaron Baker I don't agree with putting in a tribute for Kyle in this video because that's not the intent of this video. Alfie Boe wasn't even in the cast with Kyle for a long enough time period and the video would be awkward and tasteless if it began or ended with a tribute. Broadway.com isn't obligated to produce a video for or mention the death of every single Broadway actor (Kyle isn't the first); rather, it's up to the company of Les Mis to pay tribute in their own way for losing one of its own. Visit their Facebook page and they already have.
ok....this is fine but i do agree with another commenter that this timing was in poor taste, and it was disrespectful to post this and not mention kyle at all >.
oh im sure that they filmed it before that, and theres a high chance that the posting of this was scheduled before i left the comment so maybe theyd take note and possibly be more careful of a situation like this in the future. but its not like im hating or anything i love broadway.com there was just a bit of a sinking feeling in my stomach when i saw this in my subscriptions and i just didnt think it was right
+RunItsaFangirl I feel the same way. I'm sure they filmed it beforehand and don't mean anything by it, but it is a bit of poor taste to post this only days after his death
+RunItsaFangirl I hope nobody will jump all over me for asking, but I honestly don't know and am very distressed that someone associated with this show has passed... who is Kyle and what happened? Edit: Nevermind, I just found the news on the site. What a sad thing! I'm quite sure that this interview was in no way meant to diminish from that loss.
I admire Alfie Boe and his fantastic voice. I appreciate that he is respectful of the music and his fans! Someday I hope to hear him in person.
I named my son after this man. He has an amazing talent. I am so jealous of New York right now.
Got to see him (and meet him) on Wednesday. He's an amazing in the role and he's such a kind man. Probably the best Valjean I've seen.
Alfie Boe is life
What a beautiful gift God has given to you..Thank you so much for sharing it with the World. ..See you in Oct...so very happy Alfie Boe

Paul could have been a little more respectful, though. He kind of insulted Alfie at least three times.

+RunItsaFangirl to be fair, im fairly certain they filmed this before Kyle's death happened
