I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I think the way your present yourself is very real. You’re not all about creating click bait titles and luring viewers to your video to be self promoting, singing songs about yourself and showing off all your shiny new equipment that you’ve bought. I like your reviews of the auction purchases you have made on used equipment and how they have a practical use on your farm and the trials and tribulations you have encountered with them. I spent my formative years on a small farm and we did it the same way. You learned how to fix all kinds of things and didn’t call a service tech to come fix it, you got your hands greasy and made do with what you had and didn’t bury yourself in a pile debt $$. Your humble approach to how your farm is what many of us still do and I think viewers in the same vein of farming appreciate that and learn from you. You and your Dad do a great job on your farming effort!
I don't miss those days driving those red ones. Had to get rid of a 1486, 5288 and a 3588. Had nothing but trouble. Engine, hydraulic system, transmission and rear end problems with all of them. Sold them all and went green and have had no trouble.
I used to have an IH 826 that liked to pop out of 6th gear also. Tended to only do it going down the super steep lane on a rented farm pulling two gravity boxes just like yours. The landlord used to grade some water breaks (speed bumps) in it. It would pop out of gear going over the bump. I had to take the wild run away ride to the bottom more times then I care to mention. Always kept everything upright but scared the hell out of me.
I have been watching OLF, How Farms Work, and The Rest of the Story for years. How have I not come across this channel sooner?? This is now my favorite farming channel, keep up the exciting farming action!! You are a joy to watch to all of us family farmers in south eastern Wisconsin!
Yep I'm a Pepper too.....wait.... Lefty. All stick trans in my stuff; trucks, of course tractors, combines. Hey, Indiana county roads aren't that narrow ,but they make up for it by being twice as rough.
Thats not a bad fix to do on 86 series there is a kit you can put in them to fix the pop out of gear also makes them shift much nicer . The 1486 would shift much nicer than the 9-10s did since they were bull gears vs 14-15s were helical gears. I used to pull 600 behind a 1086 lol usually just kept it rolling . Drive an 88 series and you would forget the ford lol

(Not insinuating that’s the case here, just talking in general.) That’s why they started building wagons with brakes, because American tractors don’t have the brakes to be safe with multiple larger wagons. After finally getting away from grain trucks with hydraulic brakes and going to air brakes and hopper bottoms, I hope to never be anywhere but on the farm with a heavy load on a truck with hydraulic brakes again. Have taken more than one sketchy ride in a couple of them. Edit: Now I’m insinuating… I just realized that there’s no clip in the pins at all. Holy shit. I made that mistake once years ago with a 24’ disk behind a 1586. Luckily when the pin came out it was downhill and the tongue ran up under the tractor and I was able to get the whole rig stopped without any issues. I did nearly crap myself though. Have never pulled anything onto any road without a safety pin since.
My first car in high school was a manual transmission Suzuki Samurai. I probably drove that close to 200k miles before I traded up. Closing in on 30 years now since I last drove that car, I still find myself stomping the floor trying to find a clutch even though I have had at least three other vehicles since that were automatics that I also have spent well over 100k miles driving. :) I end up with a depression in the window sill of every vehicle I've owned where my elbow rides because it usually is the perfect distance from the wheel to the sill for my arm. I can't hold a straight line with my right hand even in an emergency.
Nice video, the IH sounds good, agree that intersection stop will make me put it into gear fast but it will take longer, more speed does not always take shorter for me, lol

That tractor sounds great. It did pick the absolute worst place to jump out of gear. That intersection is bad enough in a car or truck, let alone a tractor pulling two wagons. Also,I'm a bit surprised I didn't see me going by in this video.I believe that it was the same day (or maybe not) you were hauling that load . Good video.
Prefer left hand to shift, right hand on the wheel. Live in a right hand drive country so it's the norm. Use to using right hand to shift due to our tractors.
That was definitely not the place to have trouble. When meeting that Honda putting your wheels in the grass at that speed was even more treacherous. 6" further is unrecoverable with the grain loaded on the downhill side. Getting the grain home before trucking it is a time of great trial, even with a truck with a poor driver. I say good job Jacob.
My 986 jumps into park. I hate it. I have two newer John Deere tractors. I keep it around to remember how far I have come. It’s the most unreliable piece of equipment I’ve ever owned. Also had a 1066 it was a better machine than the 986 . Don’t know why I sold it and kept that 986.
The ultimate solution for your farm is called John Deere. I know it will be hard to admit you have been wrong all these years, but you will be better off once you cross that bridge.
Lol, the JDs that have been on the farm have taken at least one big dump in the form of loosing wheels. Breakdowns happen, but it's a real pain when you can't get it back to the barnyard l.

We did the same as much as we wanted to like the red ones we have flat out spent less time and money working on the green ones.

Hi Jacob we two are small family farm from Yorkshire in England would like to know were the tw is as it looked a cracking tractor
15% moisture dockage can hurt down here in North Carolina. But a full well understand you're just working with the hand you were dealt. 🙂
Hey there, buddy!

Jacob, Jacob, Jacob.... I'm going to send you some hitch pin safety clips. One accident involving a 2nd party and you would lose the entire farm!
Ryan, that's a important point. Hurt someone with that farm equipment out on the road. Lawyers would see that high dollar farm land. Go berserk!

Hi Jacob over here we drive on the left but for many years I drove a left hand road sweeper so I don't have a preference to either hand
It will be nice when you can get the white International truck set up to haul :)
What??? I can't imagine a 45 year old IHC with trans trouble! Most had trouble long before that.

The joys of taking your tractor to the elevator with two wagons Philippines behind you

Yeah I steer with my left hand, the right is for holdin your beer. Just kidding guys, them days are long gone for me.
Can’t believe you only had two wagons hooked 😂😂😂. I was hoping for one of your wonderful road trains. Have a Merry Christmas 🎄
I thought about three.
New tractors dont need any hands at all lol. Have a good night

Good video.
I've done it with our 856 pulled out in high 2 and skipped to high 4.
If I take a 56 or 66 IH to the road, I go out in hi 2nd, clutch, rev it up 3/4 way and back down fast, grab 4th and it takes off perfect.
Oh I see you finally put the doors back on the 1486
The doors never came off the 1486, just the 10.

Don't kill me, but I ran that stop sign with the 6610

It's just iron. And the 1086 is still here.
I do everything with my right hand. I have a slew of left-handed gloves. In perfect condition. The rights are long since wore out!

@@boehmfarm4276 hell almost every tractor I’ve ever had will do it occasionally. I just thought some folks might get a chuckle out of the comment lol

got a good road gear
How much does a tractor like this cost in america? Nice vids btw
Depends on where and when you buy them. We bought both our 1466 and 766 in the 90s for around 10k each but no they can go up to 20k
I sold this one for 8900. It's not a perfect tractor. But runs good.

Only 2 wagons usually it's 3 of 4 wagons lol
Where is IH 2+2 we dont seen that tractor for about 2 or more years and where is Ford TW

It's mechanically fixed, just the cosmetic stuff of the cab to go..

That was kinda silly to sell when your down two tractors because of break down’s .
I like to think of it as striking while the iron's hot on the market. And avoids some tax forms selling it within the year.
👍👌🇨🇦❤
👍
whats the red pedal on the right for please
That's the lower step. It broke off.
Why no foot throttle?
It never had one.
you sell the 1486 because of that or for some other reason?
Just didn't need it. The over the river and through the woods video has a clip at the end about selling the tractor.
Put both hands on the wheel and drive.
