      I love that for you! It sounds to me that you want a complete break from "Teaching" a I made a vide on the role of a Project Manager - thought you might benefit from it. ua-cam.com/video/3AYxzQ_SOZs/v-deo.htmlsi=gUjm0ns-AqWR4V_o

    Here in Germany, 99 percent of HR people have strong prejudices against teachers and former teachers - like me. So I removed the years I worked as a teacher from my CV... I studied math, and as long as I used my truthful CV, nobody believed that I could count to more than three. With the embellished CV, it was suddenly no problem anymore getting an excellent job.

      So if you taught for a while did they ask about gaps in your resume since you removed the teaching experience? Thanks

      @@t.terrell7037 The HR managers didn't ask about gaps. But I noticed several times that my teaching experience was considered an obstacle to being hired. That's why I embellished my CV.

    She and I both taught. She liked to do a type of stitchery. I knew nothing about that. She had devised a very simple item, and wanted to try to sell it. "Ok, I will look for places for you to sell it." Of all the venues that I found, the most interesting was a regional stitchery show. We devised a display panel, signed up for the show. Myself and another guy loaded our truck and took the display a couple of states north. We had no idea what we were doing. We set up her display and waited. When the show opened, we were swamped. I called her that evening, and she wanted to know if we had sold anything at all. I told her we wrote orders all day long. She had sold over 2,000 items. Thus began a business which became national. She developed a cut and sew business. She designed patterns, sold books, and then moved into the gift market. What a ride. Happily, I did her computer work and shipping. We were married for 60 years, and she worked up to about two weeks before the cancer took her.

    I was a Recruiter / Employee Relations Processor and HR Assistant after teaching for 6 years. Now I am back to teaching for 6 years but might change career after a few years from now. School Counselor is possible after taking a Masters in Guidance and Counseling

    • @byeteaching
      @byeteaching  5 місяців тому +1

      You don't need a masters degree to switch careers or to even make 6 figure salary. It helps though sometimes! And, you don't have to reveal that you have a masters degree in a certain field if you don't want to share. Your counseling and guidance experience is invaluable though and I can see it translating back easily into HR roles or Change Management roles.

    I don't want to leave teaching; I'm very good at it and still enjoy it after 20 years. I would like to add curriculum/instructional designer...are there opportunities for contractual work here? Can this be done only remotely? How do I add this component?

    Hi. I'm a fresh graduate in TESL, but taking the course was not by my own choice.
    Right now I'm planning to prepare myself to get out of teaching after finishing my contract, let's say in 3 years.
    So here's my question:
    Is it risky if I were to part time learning during my teaching career taking Master’s Degree of other field unrelated to Education?
    I just can't see myself in teaching; I am more to working individually and flexible with a small team. Also, I am more to office works about projects.

    • @byeteaching
      @byeteaching  2 місяці тому

      I completely understand where you're coming from. It's great that you're already planning ahead for a transition out of teaching! To answer your question, no, it's not necessarily risky, especially since you'll be building skills in a new area.
      If you know teaching isn’t your long-term path, this is a good time to explore options that align with your interests, like working independently or in project-based office roles. Just make sure to balance your teaching responsibilities with your studies to avoid burnout.
      Consider looking into degrees or certifications in fields like project management, business, or something tech-related-areas where you can work independently or with small teams and focus on projects. I offer these as well, if interested! :)
