Thoroughly enjoyed Sir mark, and i agree there isnt enough opera in Manchester. What a wonderful and generous man Halle' was.
Fantastic Sir Mark ....I love this insight in to what is the the very best Orchestra in the world ! 😁
Thank you for this. I was surprised at how much I learnt from this. I so enjoy Mark Elder's enthusiasm for music and for the Halle. I was thrilled when he was appointed music director twenty years ago and he hasn't disappointed. May he stay for many more years.
I was enthralled by your presentation and knowledge about Charles Halle. I too have done some research on Halle, but nowhere near as extensive as you. The reason being that Charles Halle is buried at Weaste Cemetery in Salford and he features on my guided tours of the Cemetery. You may already know that in 1958, Sir John Barborolli discovered Halle's grave in a poor state and he and the Orchestra members decided to install a more fitting memorial. Also recently I came across another famous musician in Weaste Cemetery, William Boyce Webb Lindley, (1801 - 1869), cellist. I wondered if he had any connection with Charles Halle. Many thanks and Best Wishes Pete Kilvert, Secretary, Friends of Salford Cemeteries Trust.
