It's okay to read one book of "The count of Monte Cristo" in July and the other in August, if they cut the story properly it won't make much difference. It's my favourite book so I can read it in a few days max without being bored but not everyone likes it so good luck! 😁

Don't worry about losing your English: I live in France, and I mostly read in English. When I read in French and go back to English, it's nearly like I didn't change the language :) I'm sure it'll be the same for you!
I loved Eragon when I was younger, but I would like to reread it, just to see what I'll think about it now :) it's part of my childhood just like Harry Potter! (the movie is awful, don't do that to yourself...)
I posted a summer TBR video: I'm planning on reading Sapiens (I discovered it on your channel, so thank you!) and A Darker Shade of Magic, among others :)
    Happy reading!!

I just wanted to say that I love your channel. You are such an inspiration, you are so beautiful and your french accent is adorable. Everytime I watch your channel I love hearing your accent. Plus lately I've been getting tons of great recommendations from you. (Not that my never ending tbr pile really needs any more) but I have really enjoyed taking this journey with you. Everytime you post a new video I always watch it and inevitably end up buying one of the books that you recommend. I ordered the seven deaths of Evelyn Hugo last week I'm waiting for it to come in the mail and I also ordered the long way to a small angry planet and the second book in that series based on your recommendation and I also purchased the mistborn trilogy because you are always raving about Brandon Sanderson. There's a couple of other books that I've purchased off of your recommendations as well I won't go into all of them but those are just some of the recent ones and I'm also going to be purchasing poppy War and The kind worth killing.

The Count of Monte Cristo, though intimidating, is a surprisingly quick read. It has a very fast paced plot and I managed to read the whole thing in one month while reading 2 other books simultaneously, and I definitely don't read nearly as quickly or as often as you do! (If I'm good I'll finish maaaybe a book a week). A lot happens in the story within the first 50 - 100 pages so it's easy to get swept up in the plot! The chapters are also very short which I find much easier to fly though (lots of: "just one more chapter and then I'll go to bed") Good luck & I'm excited to hear what you think!

My brother and I both loved Eragon as teenagers, but it definitely is challenging to get into as an adult. The rest of the books in the series are very long, and though the writing does get better, I think it’s mostly still on my shelf for nostalgia

Avoid the Eragon movie. They changed so much and it wasn't even that good.

Two books for Le Comte is much better! Also, taking a break between the two can be really useful to process the details of the story!

Eragon is one of my all time favourite series, I read it as a kid and I would definitely never reread it because I’m definitely more of a critical reader now, but it’ll always be on my bookshelf as one of the books that made me the reader I am today!! Kind of like vampire academy, twilight and rangers apprentice 😂

I read the first three Eragon books when I was a child and I loved them. Especially the first one I loved that Eragon had a dragon he took care of and I really liked the magic system. I liked that you had to use as much energy for the spells as you would to do the same thing without magic. Though I think they totally forgot that rule later on in the series. I could be mixing up books. I didn't like the romance either. I will never reread Eragon because I have heard so much bashing and I want to have a good memory of the books :)

So I don't think you'll have any problems going back. Good luck with Monte Cristo! (And yes, I think you should divide them. Don't want to risk growing bored and then not wanting to read anything).

Read only one volume. That thing is really big (but at certain part i won't put it down, of how good it becomes). I like Eragon. I grew up with it, i have the four books and still like (reread it fairly recently). I'm only gonna read this month Outlander:The Fiery Cross (the fifth in the Outlander series). It has 1327 pages, so i'm good with only this one. Really love the outlander series.

Eragon used to be my all time favorite books when I was in middle school/high school, but now, it's starting to get really frustrating. Mostly because it is the exact same plot as Star Wars A New Hope, only with dragons instead of planets and spaceships.
Count of Monte Cristo is an exhausting read--I would definitely suggest splitting it up into two months. Everything that is in the summary happens in the first 300 or so pages (roughly) and then it is another 700 or so pages where it just meanders around before it gets back to the plot. It was not an altogether bad read, but it is definitely one that takes a lot of time and dedication. Of Alexander Dumas' books, I much prefer Three Musketeers (a lot more action and a lot faster to read).
Good luck with your TBR this month!! I'm going to be attempting to finish all of Tamora Pierce's books (they are so good and so fast) and then start Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings because I am so hype to read that!!

This month for some reason I have actually read a lot of books seeing's how we're only in the middle of the month I've already finished 4 books and I have 3 other books that I'm in the middle of currently reading. So far I have read "Caraval" and "Legendary" and absolutely loved them and cannot wait for the 3rd one to come out. I literally devoured them. I read "Caraval" over the course of 3 days and then I read "Legendary" over the course of 2 days like I could not put them down. Then after I finish those 2, I ordered "Milk and Honey" and read it in its entirety and absolutely loved it. And then I read "Red Queen" by Victoria aveyard which has been on my shelf forever and I've been wanting to pick it up so I'm glad that I finally did. It's not one of my favorite books but I did enjoy it and I will be continuing on with the series I would probably give it like 4 stars out of 5. And I have currently started reading "Glass Sword" (the next book in the "Red Queen" series) however I'm only on like the second chapter plus I'm also reading "Maybe Someday" by Colleen Hoover and I'm on like page 40 and I'm also listening to the audio book of "The Girl Before" and I'm about an hour into it. (It's a thriller) and I've heard good things about it and so far I'm enjoying it. Has anyone else read it and enjoyed it?

i'm curious as to how you have time to read so much? i'm sure you're a much faster read than i am but, at most, i read 2 books a month. and 2 is only doable with e-books, which i can take anywhere, and i'm annoying my friends because i'm sitting there reading when they're trying to talk to me. how much time do you spend reading a day? do you have any tips or tricks to squeeze in some reading time? is youtube your full time job? oh i just thought of audio books. maybe i could listen to books as I clean the house...I dunno, I do have a 1 year old daughter and a dog...maybe i should just take a nap when i get a moment to myself...

I’m reading Children of Time, Borne, and The Poppy War this month. Super excited for them. Currently reading Starless by Jacqueline Carey. I never read Eragon and I’ve been wanting to try it out but at this point maybe I’ll just try the audiobook at some point but who knows when, there are a lot more books I’m excited to read. I’ve been feeling primarily sci fi reads lately. If I manage to get through the ones I have planned Red Sister maybe be next up, it sounds awesome.

Girl, I've been reading The Count of Monte Cristo since february and the struggle is REAL! Okay, I started college again (a new one) in march and that fucked up my reading SO much 😭 Anyway, when you get into the mood of the book don't put it aside to comeback later because once you're out of it is SO hard to comeback. I'm enjoying it so far, but I've been picking it up and putting it down for so long that I'm starting to not care anymore.
I really hope you enjoy it and I look forword to hear your opinion on it (if I fish it within the next 50 years and can actually watch it 😅) 🤞😙

Reading the Alexandre Dumas books in separate months is fair enough. I want to own & read Eragon series. I guess it is to escape adulting? I rarely appreciate movie tie-in covers. People in covers is fine as long as the execution is well. The Jenny Han book covers did it in a photogenic/aesthetically beautiful way.

I am on book #4 for the month and red sister is available to me so I am for sure going to get that one from the library and probably and I have just added a bunch as I am playing the waiting game for all my holds to come in! Fortunately I have a couple books on my own shelves that need reading as well so fingers crossed. The goal is ten which I think is doable. I think you will love the The count of monte cristo even though its been a while in french and splitting it up seems fair to me. I am looking forward to your reading goals video :)

I read Aragon as a much younger person and loved it. But I don't think I would now. Too many really ones have been read to go back now. Red Sister is good but very reminiscent of Nevernight. Maybe a little too much. Still loved both. Have read all of Michael Crichton's books. Shere is not his best. Lastly, don't stress. Read one, read both, read neither. Pick another one from the mug, throw that one back and do those two when you're not feeling slumpy. I won't judge.

I've read the entire Lara Jean trilogy early this year, and I definitely get your fear of it being dragged out. I personally really liked the first book, the romance and family drama was very appealing to me. It was sweet, fluffy, and everything I needed at the time. But as I was reading the second book, it felt very "why did we need a whole second book" for about the first half, as I read on though it did pick up a bit and I got pretty into it. Then I got to the third one, and boy was I confused. It seemed kind of pointless after the second one's ending to me, but I decided to try to read it anyways. And I liked it pretty well, I mean it's nowhere near as good as the first one, but it's nice for what it is.
Also, I'm SO excited for the movie!!!

I'm currently listening to Sapiens by Harari as an audiobook and reading The Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston in the physical copy. (It's so good. It's a non-fiction about the writer that went on an expedition into the deadly Honduran rainforest to uncover the secret ancient cities inside. Really enjoying it so far.)

I’m currently reading The seven deaths of Evelyn H. , I feel a little lost. I just finish Kushiel’s dart and I left me a little tired, I do not know what to read that is light and interesting, that's why I started The seven deaths ... based on your recommendation ,I hope the book catches me soon, I just finished the second day. I love the Count MC. Good day.

Yaredi Perez Pizano I felt lost with Seven Deaths too at the beginning. You get into and understand what's going on more as the book goes on but ya at first I was definitely confused with all the different characters points of view and the leaving off and returning to different days. I liked the book in the end though :). I should say I'm not normally a big mystery fan...

Oh yes, you're totally thrown into the story. The MC has no idea what's going on so it's the same for us... it gets better though!

woooooo The Count of Monte Cristo (I hope this is the name in English lol) was the best thing I did to my life reading-wise BUT I'm kind of emotionally attached to it since I was maybe 12 and........ wow. When I finally had the courage to dive into the "original" and complete story, I wasn't expecting such a good narrative (translation too, I've read it in Portuguese :B) and how things happen and flow and... wow. Good luck, honestly. It's one of my favorites now and I hope you enjoy it :3

Totally fair to split the Dumas books between two months.

LOL I read Eragon when I was like 9 and I was obsessed, and flew through the entire trilogy (?) but I definitely benefitted from never having picked up LOTR beforehand. It's a great book as an intro to epic fantasy for young readers I'd say, but I know that if I tried to read it now as a 20 year old I'd hate it.

Omg I feel the same way about Eragon, so many of my friends loved it as kids and then I had to admit to them that I didn’t enjoy it, lol. I’ve also heard bad things about the author and that always leaves an impression

I've read three books in the Eragon series, but at the time I was in early middle school - thus I just remember liking them... now I can't recall what exactly was happening, so maybe it wasn't as good as I thought back then 😂

The beauty queens audiobook is HILARIOUS because Libba Bray reads it. I had low expectations for it and ended up enjoying it!! Some stuff at then end really disappointed me but it was a lot more fun and had some relevant points that I really hadn’t expected!

I'm currently reading The Ruins by Scott Smith. Yesterday I ordered Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant, so I'm hoping to read that one next, when it arrives.

I just finished the first three Mistborn books, thanks so much for recommending them, I loved them so much I want to read them again, and the ending was so good. It makes me want to read the next 2 books but also scared in case they ruin it, does that make sense?

    Hey Emily !
Tes vidéos sont toujours aussi chouettes, bonjour au Québec :)
About Eragon, the first book is DREADFUL. The second and third ones are surprisingly better and... actually readable. That said, it's really not the best nor the most original fantasy ever. I've quit in the middle of book three without even noticing it because I've got so much better to read.
Another thing : you listen to a lot of audiobooks. How/when do you listen to it ? Do you drive a lot ?
PS : I also finished the Poppy War and it was AWESOME.

I think Jenny Han originally wrote it as a duology but then later decided to write a third books.

I love the count of Monte Cristo. It's one of my favorite books ever.
I know it's big and everything but the story and the characters are so compelling that it's difficult to put It down. I read it in a month and I didn't even try too hard because it's that good. Also the historic context is really well done.
Just one thing: When the author was releasing the story, he got paid according to the lines, so there are some dialogs that are too long, but it's not all the time and It didn't bother me much. Just so you know.
Btw, I love your sci-fi recommendations!
I really enjoyed The seven deaths (not completely sci-fi but you know) and the humans.
Have a Nice Reading month :)

Hi, Em! I read The Count of Monte Cristo earlier this year and it's great! It's definitely a slow read, some parts seemed pretty slow but overall it was totally worth it! Can't wait for your comments on this one (:

I am currently reading A Million Junes and I am struggling with it a little. At times I am confused and it took about half way through for the plot to pick up. For me anyway. I am finding that I am reading some lines 2 or three times because it doesn’t seem very clear. I am a little bit more than halfway through the book now so I will finish it and see if my mind changes by the end

I have had my eye on Jenny Han's books, I may just have to pick them up if you give them your stamp of approval!
