This is a good tutorial for a grate bed. I’d only add that a narrow zigzag stitch is good to use on stretchy fleece fabric. Once your little dog no longer needs a crate, get it a bolster bed, as they love to cuddle and they feel more secure surrounded by the bolsters and with the bed placed against a wall or in a corner. Make sure the bed is big enough for them to stretch out and sleep in any position. Adult and older dogs need a bed that’s more supportive than a pillow bed.

Great advice Susan! Different dogs need different levels of support, and some dogs have particular preferences for bed styles over others. For example, my own dog adored dog beds with bolsters (aka raised edges on the side) that he can tuck himself in against.
