this song is still very popular - while it was running the Intervision was much better than the Eurovision because it was more cultural and less political. That is not to say there weren't a few subtle digs at the Soviets made in between the lines but they knew better than to really cause trouble. Also the winners didn't have to worry about the expense of holding the next festival at their country because the venue was alway Poland and at one of the most beautiful sites in the world
Finland and Yugoslavia were the only two countries to be members of both OIRT (Intervision) and EBU (Eurovision)... OIRT then merged with EBU in the early 90s.
Listen to the night I can hear it fall Echoes of a feeling I can’t handle this at all Is it all a dream? Am I so blind? The shadow of a love That I left behind Promises and lies Running through my heart Wish away the memory I believe it’s tearing me apart Threw back the shade Let the light shine through If I don’t see reason What am I to do? Where is the love? Where is the fave? A heart cries out, Can no one save. Where is the love Reach out to take it Without the touch I don’t think that I can make it Taste another tear How the pain has grown Watch another sunrise As I’m lying here alone Holding up my heart But there’s still no sign Every day gets longer Losing track of time
Ensimmäistä kertaa näen palasen Interviisuista! Oikein hieno esitys! Ymmärrän että Marion toi voiton Suomelle. Olisikohan pärjännyt yhtä hyvin myös Euroviisuissa tällä kappaleella..?

To those that commented how much "better" Intervision was than Eurovision.... you people do realise how they "voted" for these songs, right? Well, it wasn't by phoning in, because most people in the Eastern Bloc didn't have such decadently superfluous technology. They voted by turning the lights on in their flats when they liked a song. I wish I was kidding but it's the laughable truth!!!!
Erm, nobody phoned in their votes in Eurovision song contest either, until about 1997, when televoting was first introduced... So no such decadently superfluous technology in the West, either ;)
Best of the best . Marion from Finland . The singing beauty!

LISÄÄ MARIONIA!! PLEASE. Great artist, great lady..

I think this (winning Intervision) was quite important to Finland at the time when we always did badly (and mostly undeservedly) at Eurovision... ;)
"Quite important" is quite an understatement... I was VERY important, period.
Марион прелесть!
Listen to the night
I can hear it fall
Echoes of a feeling
I can’t handle this at all
Is it all a dream?
Am I so blind?
The shadow of a love
That I left behind
Promises and lies
Running through my heart
Wish away the memory
I believe it’s tearing me apart
Threw back the shade
Let the light shine through
If I don’t see reason
What am I to do?
Where is the love?
Where is the fave?
A heart cries out,
Can no one save.
Where is the love Reach out to take it
Without the touch
I don’t think that I can make it
Taste another tear
How the pain has grown
Watch another sunrise
As I’m lying here alone
Holding up my heart
But there’s still no sign
Every day gets longer
Losing track of time
Hyvästi Yö
1980 was a special-but-weird year for Finland because they won Intervision but came last in Eurovision.
BRAVA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where is the LOVE? is correct

Näissä kisoissa Suomi pärjäsi yleisesti ottaen kait paremmin kuin euroviisuissa..
Can you say that in English please.

You're full of shit. Phones weren't a luxury in eastern Europe. Plus televoting didn't exist before the 90's
krzykul,
