That year has been so overhyped due to a stupid comment from Gallen. Not one of my mates from NSW said it was going to be a guaranteed win. If you tally up the amount of premierships from both origin sides, QLD actually had a higher tally. They put so much pressure on Cleary, who was a 23 year old halfback, who had never won a comp, against Cherry-Evan’s and Munster.
There is nothing wrong with having faith in your state before a series, I know most of QLD were shocked when NSW won the 2014 series because there was no way Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson could compete with Cronk and Thurston. I remember a lot of the Queensland media thought the 2021 series was in the bag.
