I greatly enjoyed watching this video. I also remember back in 1986 and 1987 when my family traveled to Florida from I-77's Exit 18 to get to I-20 West before heading on Interstate 26 eastbound.
@0marigolds -When I first moved to ATL from NH in 1977 this was one of the first songs I heard on the local FM Rock station, I was like "Uh-oh" but have come to like it over the years.
@Freewayjim When you pass by objects, trees, etc., the video is at a smooth motion. How do you make the video that way, since in my videos, it's not that way.
That's some nice greenery that exists around Columbia. As I observed (and noted) in your other Columbia HD video, the city seems to have some big-city traffic levels, despite having a metro of only 450,000 people (although the U.S. census bureau designates the extended metro pop. of over 744,000).
@Freewayjim I'm not sure if I really mean that, I'm still trying that effect out, to see if I can use it in my future videos (next video is I-74 in Indiana between Cincy and Indy, and that's scheduled for Sunday). I've never used that in a real video. I'll still have to work on that today.
@FreewayBrent -I missed a zero in your post, my bad, but I still would put more stock in the Extended Metro numbers, that's what I think the roads tend to be designed for.
I-77 seems to favor cities beginning with the letter C: (in order from south to north) Columbia SC; Charlotte NC; Charleston WV; and Cambridge, Canton, and Cleveland OH...
Great video and music as well! Near the 5 minute mark, you had US-321 saying 3221. There's no 4-digit US Routes, or Interstates. Some states, such as Kentucky, have 4-digit state routes. Also, how do you have the motion in the video like that?
Over 20 years ago, when my family and I travelled from Buffalo to Orlando/Disney, the I-77 cut off at I-20, so we had to go west on 20 before going east on 26. Maybe it was a function of Easter/Spring Break, but I recall we were in a real bad traffic jam on the westbound 20 until we made the 26 East loop. Once we got on 26, we flew again! BTW... does 126 leave from 26 East to go downtown?
@growingup15: Yeah, it seems like Columbia has been slowly, but steadily growing. Never been there, but it seems like a pretty pleasant place, and the economy seems to have remained relatively robust, compared to most other regions in the U.S.
@nostalgiamelancolia1 And yet... that's where the jobs and economic strength reside. I have a brother and his family who left Buffalo and moved to Atlanta as well(eastern 'burbs)... why would they ever want to come back north? Can't blame them.
@FreewayBrent Well columbia population from the 2000 posted said tha columbia has only a little over 750,000 in our metro! but they believe we might be getting close to peaking to the Million Mark soon! i asked the mayor himelf! he knows alot about the metro population! i guess we will know when the 2010 census comes in
@nostalgiamelancolia1 Let me guess, you've never been to the south. Why do people feel the need to make comments like this. I'm from NH and have lived in Atlanta 34 years and would never move back north. There are socially deprvaed areas in rural sectiosn everywhere in the US, the south just seems to be fair game. I've seen some backwards-ass places in New England too. Ignorant statement dude!
@FreewayBrent Yeah but columbia's growing economy is not a strong a you might think! its just stable! but we need a Growing economy thats strong! and lately we've been losing alot! mostly because of the economic crisis and that Confedrate flag we have flying at the state house! Businessed have been boycotted and major events have been boycotted out of our state becuase of that Flag! the day it comes down the day Columbia and SC Economy can grow even faster!
I greatly enjoyed watching this video. I also remember back in 1986 and 1987 when my family traveled to Florida from I-77's Exit 18 to get to I-20 West before heading on Interstate 26 eastbound.
Thank you!
@FreewayAndrew - Andrew, It's called a Typo that I did not catch.
What motion are you referring to?
I attended Ft Jackson for basic training late 1988 and I-77 was not built there yet.
@VaFreeways Thanks, it rained on and off for the next 20-30 miles of I-26 east once the video ended.

@h98889 I don't understand the question?
@FreewayBrent -I missed a zero in your post, my bad, but I still would put more stock in the Extended Metro numbers, that's what I think the roads tend to be designed for.
@Freewayjim On Pinnacle 14, it has a checkbox for "Smooth Motion". I'm currently trying out on that to make the videos more smoother.
I grew up near the Percival rd. turn off during the `70's. I don't remember 77 being there then, but it was a long time ago. Geat video.
@Freewayjim Why do you always leave it checked?
Very nice...looks like you lucked out with the rain (at least for the video).
I-77 seems to favor cities beginning with the letter C: (in order from south to north) Columbia SC; Charlotte NC; Charleston WV; and Cambridge, Canton, and Cleveland OH...
LOL, that's quite a coincidence.
@FreewayAndrew -That sounds like a software thing to me.
@0marigolds Thank You!
I Ride 77 Almost everyday for commuting its nice at night time you can see the whole city about 4 miles before th interstate ends

@FreewayAndrew Why wouldn't I?
@FreewayAndrew -When I speed the video up the software has an option for "Frame Blending" which must be the reason, I always leave it checked.
@StukInBuf Yes I-126 is a spur from I-26 that takes you in to downtown, I have a video of it in my collection from 2009.
Over 20 years ago, when my family and I travelled from Buffalo to Orlando/Disney, the I-77 cut off at I-20, so we had to go west on 20 before going east on 26.

@Freewayjim Since when I make videos, I don't leave the "Smooth Motion" box checked since if I do, it would do some blurs when I pass by stuff.
@SalviCossali - Acura TL.
That is true. I know alot about Columbia. And that video is part of my route to Hilton Head Island, i take the whole I-77 in sc
@nostalgiamelancolia1 And yet... that's where the jobs and economic strength reside.

4:52 it is not '3221' it's '321'

2010 is old.

Great vid, SC seems very flat and boring when driving through it
The eastern half of the state is on the Atlantic Coastal Plain, so it would make sense
@FreewayBrent Yeah but columbia's growing economy is not a strong a you might think! its just stable! but we need a Growing economy thats strong! and lately we've been losing alot!
