You are right about the digital polish they put on everything now. The raw un filtered “real” music is looked at like it’s flawed
I still love music that sounds like it was made in a garage. I even produce my hip hop this way

I guess (/hope) this is the right place to point out that I've been active as a singer-songwriter for more than ten years on UA-cam now, eager to do something different / more interesting than today's standarad pop from the beginning, one recent example (fittingly called "Ah, Well, Whatever") actually trying to sound like Nirvana (though I must admit I probably wasn't as succesful in that attempt as I first thought... Another one, also fittingly actually called "Taylor Swift" is more representative of the kind of style I tend to go to, I guess), but overall trying all kinds of styles etc...
Today's music is crap when you have to search for a good song it's not worth it but there's enough great music from the past I just listen to that instead

How old are these interviews? I haven't heard the term "EDM" in 5 years.
What sucks is I know bands that dropped their bassists/drummers for live shows in favor of a backtrack so the rest of the band can pocket more money.
I can't imagine going to a rock show and having the bass and drums played via recording. Would kill the entire experience. Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters and Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails made millions releasing albums where they played all instruments and sang themselves but then hired low paid fill ins to play instruments when they went on tour. At least then they had actual people playing bass and drums even if they weren't permanent members of the band.
