The way I like to think of it is that the “Phoenix” is just the physical manifestation of JEAN’S own chaotic powers. Then when the “Force”, this cosmic power, enters Jean, it manifests and fuses with Jean’s inner Phoenix, which together becomes the Phoenix Force. Which I actually don’t have a problem with, I actually like the idea. I like that fact that the Phoenix Force isn’t what made Jean chaotic and that all it did was magnify what she already had buried deep within her. Jean was already an Omega Level mutant with her Phoenix, the force just fused with it and became something far greater and far darker. Now the movie should have DEFINITELY explained it. But I help this gives people a better idea of the way it works in the movie.
It was way to close to Captain Marvel Watch The Film Theorists about this topic, Matpat describes it perfectly.... Also tell me what you think after watching it
@@thefilmwatcher1302 they’re basically the same movies with different interpretations of some parts, also one doesn’t have wolverine. I just enjoy every scene of Phoenix in this film and the ost. The alien backstory and all that could’ve been better and everyone did their best with the script they were given. Wasn’t gonna be a shit movie from the planning but with how shit happened it’s a shit movie. Guess we’ll have to wait 10 or so years for the x men to be Part of the MCU or get animated films that are on par with the DCAU.
Why did this make me cry? You pointed out nearly every hurrah and every criticism I had personally and still ended on a good note. This franchise makes me emotional, and this movie beings a solid tear to my eye. Thanks for the vid!
The most annoying things in the x-men movies is how every time Quicksilver fights someone they’re able to combat his super speed. It’s like his power is just irrelevant against everyone
LOVE the re-pitched chord in the beginning to fit in with the movie title theme drop. Chef's kiss for your eye to detail. And I hope you're holding up, man :) thanks for another fun one.
You're right. They should have tied "Apocalypse was using alien technology to transfer himself from host to host" and his death leading to aliens coming to Earth because he no longer resides here or precisely because they detected the power surge of his death/Phoenix being unleashed. But this is still a great movie and I enjoyed your analysis!
The Dazzler scene would have been “Xtraordinary” if their was an introduction to the Character. I know who this is from the Comics and Cartoon series, but in the context of this movie, her cameo does make it a Cinema win. Neither does “what the X in the X men stand for anyway?” Genosha certainly isn’t a Cinema Win either.
2:41 I’m so glad you noticed this. It’s what I’ve always like about the X-Men universe. Their heroism is as much about IMAGE as it is actually helping people
I enjoyed this movie, though I was a bit disappointed, since Jean is my least favorite mutant to begin with. Wish other characters got a bit more fleshed out and Mystique was a literal eyesore.
This movie is my 3rd favorite X-Men movie and I love the action, effects, the characters and the emotions this movie alone is a better Dark Phoenix movie than The Last Stand by but because of the story. Still the movie is a good X-Men movie despite what other people say
If Quicksilver had a chance to talk to Magneto and join his group of minions heading into the New York battle, maybe Gambit would've came in to join Charles Xavier's group (because that character was set to be in X Men Apocalypse with Chaning Tatum to play as him, but that character was removed from the final cut of the film).
I really enjoyed Dark Phoenix, just wanted 2 small things. A line of Magneto asking if Peter was ok (after the attack) and a line reconciling the version of the Phoenix that pops in at the end of Apocalypse.
Mike P Not James. He seemed like he literally could not care less. His place goes to Nicholas Hoult. That argument scene in the kitchen was the best acting in this movie, period.
@@thefilmwatcher1302 no, the caracter was just different, not that he didn't care... James was great as always, and I think he is the perfect Charles Xavier
I'm a massive, massive fan of the comic story and I honestly really enjoyed this movie for what it was. I knew it wasn't going to be perfect or even great going in because of all the issues behind-set that got leaked -- Simon Kinberg honestly wanted to do a 2-part film, and Fox wouldn't let him; then the Captain Marvel brouhah (honestly, I feel like they should have just kept their original ending. They weren't *that* similar, and changing the Skrulls to a different species was accomplished easily enough in the final cut). I liked that it was a tight, fast-paced flick that fit in thematically and tonally with all the other Fox X-Men films that took the emotional core of "Dark Phoenix", which really is about tearing a family apart and how hard they have to fight to get back together, and ran with it. They hit some of the easiest basics of the story--Jean's sacrifice in space and subsequent resurrection, the mental manipulations of Jean's mind making her unstable, getting rejected by her father then fighting the X-Men outside her childhood home, the big fight in a NYC mansion, and a final confrontation with aliens leading to an altruistic sacrifice. I liked how the ending left it a bit open-ended as to whether she could come back or not, so that if you really wanted your headcannon to be the ending of DOFP it could be, but DOFP also said the future changes all the time with people's choices so who knows? Like you pointed out, I felt leaving out the "Phoenix" part of the "Force" was done extremely intentionally to fit in not only with "Apocalypse" but also "X2" and "Last Stand", which are both still cannonical because they both led to DOFP. I thought in its imperfections it was actually a perfect send-off to the mostly good, occasionally brilliant Fox X-Men films which arguably provided a basis for the dearth of amazing superhero movies we have today, and it also left me excited to see the X-Men finally headed home to the MCU however they're going to end up doing them. And also yes - Hans Zimmer's score is pure ear porn; the Phoenix theme that pops up in "Gap", "Dark", "Deletion" and "Insertion" is epic. My only subtle complaint is that the score wasn't put out on physical album because I'm a sucker for collecting those and that it didn't include Emeli Sande's song "Extraordinary Being" that got written for the film, cuz it's a beautiful song and it really, really fit the movie.
I really love how you do videos of all positive stuff. As much as I love Cinema Sins, it seems like everyone loves to tear stuff down rather than focus on the good. This is a refreshing change of pace
Recently finished rewatching the new X-Men movies (reboots), and I came back to also rewatch the win videos. It's true, we like these movies more than we dislike them, thats why we are somewhat critical of them because we are so passionate and love the characters. Sad to see the characters gone, but its always better to remember the good than the bad
I genuinely love this movie. Glad to see you handle it. Also this film TOTALLY fits within the new timeline cannon. Her abilities manifest as a Phoenix (because of the song playing when her mother died). The force just amplified what was already an extremely powerful mutant.

Hi Lee! I have veen watching your videos for a decent while now and I just wanted to thank you for what you do. I have always liked movies but you have made the movie watching experience so much better for me. Today I appreciate the cinematography and musical scores much more than earlier and it really adds to the movies. Since I started watching your videos I started to liaten to diferent score composers aswell and this friday I am actually going to a Hans Zimmer concert and thats only because of your content. Also as a weird thing I have alot of troble sleeping and can often lay awake for most of the night. But somehow your Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation video always helps me go to sleep. I think i've played the video about 50 times by now but I've only seen the end maybe 5 times. Don't worry though, it's not a bad or boring video at all. It just gives me some sort of comfort and has really helped me out alot. So yea that's all I had to say basicly. Hope you'll see this and thank you again. Keep doing what you do, I love it!
And he was great as young Indiana Jones in Last Crusade. Wait, shit... wrong Phoenix. And I like his song Lisztomania. Oh, hold on, that’s the band Phoenix. Never mind. And I loved him in Harry Potter. Wait, fuck. That’s just a regular phoenix.
3:39 then again it was Moira who named this team funny enough. charles just rolled with it. Also i like this film, but sometimes felt raven was saying dialogues that belonged to beast. i mean, mystique was the one who kinda established the more militaristic team at the end of the previous film. mystique should have had her own point of view: she kinda supports charles even if she is aware he is half doing this for mutantkind but also letting fame get over his head, but also because only this ways they can actually get results (and it would be kinda character development for mystique, who just rejected her "hero status" from the previous movies, to now try to embrace it for other students and she showing them the example). is just that she wished only the adults needed to sacrifice themselves and not the kids
Gotta say my favourite scene of the whole thing (& maybe all of xmen idk) was Jean crying and trying to get Mystique’s blood off her shirt. A really small scene, but acted to perfection and Zimmer accentuated it so well with the music.
I'm not saying that to put him down by any means I actually love this channel over its counterpart! The thing I'm saying is that hopefully he's not going through anything and hopefully we still keep the cheerful and optimistic guy that we all know and love! Hope you're doing okay, man!
I love how He straight up admits, that Charles and Erik are a love story. They love each other and respect each other despite having differing views. Was the end basically saying that you ship them?
I do like it - though I missed the Skrulls, as they'd have been a perfect element in the movie. I think everybody did a spiffing job and I found myself wholly entertained. I do hope Marvel finds a good way to add the mutants to their universe - we'll just have to wait and see.
Rewatching this movie after hbo TLOU, the actor that played David in TLOU played Jeans dad in this movie. Cool, he's not bad in this, he plays the emotions well

That intro was pitched perfectly with the OST.
Ikrrrr so satisfying 😂😂
I'm very happy you acknowledged the "Captain Marvel" part. This is why I love your channel.
The Phoenix Saga deserves to be a series. Much more space to develop characters.
That is what the cast and crew said. It is also stated in the movie.
I loved the movie, just think it was too soon after Endgame.
It was also mismarketed.
MutationGiraffeNeck No, even The Last Stand is better than this. Even if it still isn’t, this is at most the second worst X-Men movie.
It was supposed to come out before Endgame...and Captain Marvel. And if it had, we'd have seen its original ending.
It was way to close to Captain Marvel
Watch The Film Theorists about this topic, Matpat describes it perfectly.... Also tell me what you think after watching it
@@thefilmwatcher1302 they’re basically the same movies with different interpretations of some parts, also one doesn’t have wolverine. Just one has a better interpretation of Phoenix shown as a powerhouse and is unbeatable vs last stand having her die, when everyone knows that wouldn’t work that way. But whatever.

I love how the movie uses pg 13 to its max without going to R

5:24 "The Atomic Purple Nurple" Jesus Chirst man 🤣🤣
I had to google what 'Nurple' meant, I regret it now that I look at the scene
If Quicksilver had a chance to talk to Magneto and join his group of minions heading into the New York battle, maybe Gambit would've came in to join Charles Xavier's group (because that character was set to be in X Men Apocalypse with Chaning Tatum to play as him, but that character was removed from the final cut of the film).
I really enjoyed Dark Phoenix, just wanted 2 small things. A line of Magneto asking if Peter was ok (after the attack) and a line reconciling the version of the Phoenix that pops in at the end of Apocalypse.
I hated this movie, but as always James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender did justice to their roles.
No one should hate this good movie
That clip of Jean crying in the rain, trying desperately to wipe Ravens blood off her? DESTROYED ME
I really love that you also see the good things in "Dark Phoenix" and not only the bad things
I really love how you do videos of all positive stuff. As much as I love Cinema Sins, it seems like everyone loves to tear stuff down rather than focus on the good. This is a refreshing change of pace
I really liked the movie, it’s just it shouldn’t have been released in the same year as Captain Marvel as both of them are comparably similar

Also this film TOTALLY fits within the new timeline cannon. Her abilities manifest as a Phoenix (because of the song playing when her mother died). The force just amplified what was already an extremely powerful mutant.
Mutants in the Xmen universe have something called an X gene, which is actually why they're called X men, shoulda removed a win for that one chief

MCU: We have come to take X-Men
3:39 then again it was Moira who named this team funny enough. charles just rolled with it.
