In 2017, they were about 19 through 24. Now at this time in 2023, they are 25 through 30 and they are celebrating their 10 year anniversary of their debut (which was on June 13, 2013). This is one group of extremely hard-working, talented, yet humble, young men. FYI - right now, 2 are enlisted in the mandatory South Korean military and the rest are expected to enlist throughout the rest of this year. Even with that, they have pre-recorded a new song for their fans (ARMY) called Take Two that came out just a day or so ago (no MV) and other activities such as prerecorded talk show called Suchwita with Suga as host, photo shoots, and in-person events in Seoul, SK that will be attended by RM (the leader and main rapper), and Jungkook (the youngest and Main Vocalist). Enjoy the journey. I found BTS May 2021 and never looked back. They really don't have a bad song in their discography. At some point, you may want to watch a guide about BTS done by Taylor Mari, to learn a little bit about their history and about each member. Until then, enjoy! There are group (OT7) songs, subunits (like the Vocal Line only - 4 of them, or the rap line only - 3 of them, or sometimes just 2 or 3 other groupings), and there are solo mixtapes from the 3 rappers, and recently solo albums from all but the 2 youngest (but they are coming soon).
I think Jungkook was already 20 because this video came out in November and his birthday is in September.

Yes they are however the first nomination happened in 2020. This song released in 2018. I have never heard 'bag' was an acronym. They were racking up awards well before attending any American music award shows. I believe the last I heard it's over 1000 now. 😊💜

Also, re you wanting to dance but being self-concious - don’t worry about others, if you want to get up and dance and feel the music, just get up and do it. who cares what it looks like? You do you (RM has a solo song called Do You that’s pretty cool). Watch BTS’ variety show “Run BTS” (not to be confused with the incredible song “Run BTS” or the other incredible song “Run” by BTS 😂) and you’ll see that BTS is not afraid to do weird shit on camera, they would be the last to judge you. I genuinely think you guys would ADORE this group. BTS have definitely carved out a part of the world for themselves, they are all genuinely so talented its mind blowing.
Heads up, when people say RM is the leader they literally mean he leads the group, and acts as the middleman between the company and the group. It doesn't necessarily mean he's the frontman, or the one who stands out the most, or anything like that. In all honestly there is no sole member that stands out over the others, they're all actually very evenly split. They're all multitalented, and have solo ventures while still being part of BTS. Like all the rappers have their own albums they've released, the vocalists have all had solo singles/albums that have been part of BTS' album or just dropped on their own. They all have their own expertise within performance and songwriting that kinda allows for them to excel in the way they have.

Please do their more recent work next! I recommend RUN BTS dance practice! You'll see how hard they go even after 10 years of being in the industry.
BTS also give us sooo much behind the scenes content, for example ‘episodes’ which are brief behind the scenes looks at shooting the MVs and ‘dance practices’ which show the entire choreography of a song in the dance practice studio. The dance practice for Mic Drop includes two full dance breaks as it is the practice for a major stage performance, and also gives you the non-remixed version of the song. I think you guys would enjoy both of these types of content. My recommendations for next BTS songs are ON Kinetic Manifesto Film, Save Me, and Black Swan.

3:30 the JK reflection in the mirror is CGI, my memory is bad but from what i remember Jungkook had to dance the mirrored version that they then edited into the mirror. So basically that is a seperate video of JK and that is also why you cant see the camera
I'm 67, and this is just the best group ever. It's little wonder they set records and have such a following. The 1970's saw the emergence of rock, and that was the generation I grew up in. Unparalleled excellence, not only in the group but also each member individually.

This is just one of the many wild songs from BTS which, quite frankly somewhat break the prejudices about Kpop, because it is soo haaaard.
FYI I dunno what the budget was for this MV but it's not by any means that expensive, just very very well planned - and that's very much standard for BTS.
This was released in 2018 by which time BTS were getting more successful but not near where they are now. Up until 2016/17 they were not, and MV budgets could be almost nothing - such as early MVs where they had to use managers' cars as props, or - a classic - shoot "Save me" on a rainy beach in one take. Not that they didn't have to spend ALL DAY doing it - and have a VERY fit cameraman who could effectively manage a camera while doing his own choreo - but pretty standard for BTS!
In 2018 they were yes in their early 20s. I strongly recommend that you do some research into our members and learn about them as individuals. Every. Single. Person, who does so is amazed at what they have managed to achieve at their still young ages, and that's fun - for them, and for us. Many sources - Xceleste is always excellent but the most up to date is Taylor Mari's ua-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/v-deo.html - please watch it to the end to appreciate the colossal mountain of work she put in - she is a true OT7 ARMY and an angel .
A LOT has happened since then, including about a year of "hiatus" (haha) so that BTS can rest, have a life, pursue solo work, and complete their 18 months to 2 years mandatory military service. Ongoing events include: the Busan free concert, Jin's single with Coldplay and guest appearance at their Argentina concert just before enlistment, Suga's chat show Suchwita on YT, where he talks and drinks with a number of Korean celebrities he admires (just lovely), JHope's Album Jack-in the Box and Lollapalooza appearance, Suga's Agust D D-Day album and world tour (currently in Japan), Jimin's album Fact, RM's album Indigo with multiple collaborations, MVs and concert appearance for a small audience in Seoul, Jungkook's World Cup opening appearance in Qatar with Dreamers, multiple modeling, art, and fashion house promotions, our current Festa celebration for their 10th anniversary with a new single Take Two among other events(!), the announcement that RM will be an advocate for the Korean organisation which researches, excavates, identifies and restores the bodies of Korean war casualties to their families (phenomenal), JK and V both have albums in plan and JK's is expected to be soon.
J-Hope is now in the military, Suga needs to go this year (I think soon) and I also expect RM will be going soon too, and maybe JK. They are expected back together in 2025 and I think they have already planned their schedule for that time. That is what BTS is like.

I hope you decide to fall down the BTS rabbit hole because this was really fun to watch. Love the vibe with the two of you watching, and how you paid attention to what was in front of you. BTS (in group and solo work) has a diverse range of songs, from pure hype to poptastic fun to seriously hardcore rap to sweet and mellow, and also some humorous ones (a couple of them being their most satirical songs giving political and social commentary). We never know quite what we're going to get with any song. BTS is a rare global phenomenon - how lucky we are to be alive at the same time as them... so it'll always be well worth your time to dig into what it is that makes them so special.
I hope you also react to their dance practices so you can see all the choreo in its full, uncut amazingness (fully half of what Kpop is about is the dancing and they invest years of effort into it; my personal definition of Kpop groups is that they're dance crews who sing and rap; but also note: BTS has far transcended the "Kpop mold"). (General suggestion: IMO, it's best to listen to the album/recorded version of every new-to-you song first before watching a live performance of it, so you hear the original clearly... 'live' videos often don't have the best audio quality; and they sometimes remix the live version so it sounds different from the original).

Thank you for the reaction. This is absolutely one of those MV and songs that you can listen to over and over. Another thing about BTS is that they donʻt like to use green screens for their videos so most of them are actual places and sets. For example this song, that was an actual explosion and I believe they had to get it in 1 take. But these guys are absolutely artistic geniuses. Apobangbo!!
omg i just found you guys and this is the first reaction of yours i'm watching and i love it so much already! i really love your genuine commentary, humour, and investment/excitement in hearing their music. i love all the details that catch your eye in this mv (the transitions, movie quality budget, mixed in english words, editing magic, and etc.) i like that you pause or go back when something stands out to soak it in. for me who's been an army for a looong time i've become used to the high production value of bts' music videos (and kpop in general) and i've heard this song so many times that the things that stand out for you initially don't as much for me on the 100000th watch lol. but this reminds me of exactly how i reacted when i first watched mic drop and got into bts in 2015 as well.

You guys are fun to watch. I have followed these seven amazing men since rheir debute song in 2013. They have sacrificed much to achieve this success.
There are several amazing documentaries about their rise to fame, as the group and also as individuals. They constantly reinvent themselves. There is so much variety to their music and deep meanings behind the lyrics, Watch Blood, sweat and tears and try to figure that one out.
And no matter how old you are or what your gender is, you can not deny that these are beautiful men. And yet dispite their talent and srunnung looks, they are humble and kind and very caring of each other. They love ARMY, their fanbase and many ARMYS have commented how BTS has helped them through hard times in their lives. I call them my fountain of youth. Lookong forward to more reactions

Also, I've noticed you fell under Jimin Effect. Since you like Jimin that much, you should watch/listen to his solo work! He recently released his EP called "Face", which has two singles with music videos and wonderful live performances - Set Me Free Pt.2 and Like Crazy. Like Crazy is a title track, which debuted at #1 Billboard Hot 100 (first ever for a Korean soloist) and it broke all kinds of records!

If you ever feel like you are short on content, BTS is a gift that keeps giving:

- They have a variety show that has 100+ episodes - RUN BTS
- They have Bon Voyage and in The Soop which are full seasons of them being on a holiday (Malta, Scandinavia, Hawaii, New Zealand and South Korea)
- And since BTS are a band existing since 2013 with all members producing and writing songs for the band they have 200+ songs

If I may, I would like to recommend a less hard core song so you can hear another genre of music they do. They make a lot of fan songs (the most recent that came out a few days ago is called Take Two and was released for their 10 year anniversary) and the one I want to recommend is Mikrokosmos. There is no music video but you can look up a live performance with English subtitles. All of them are good except I would stay away from the MMA 2019 performance because although they did a great job, it’s a little hard to hear.
