Man, I have to say, this switch gives Ubiquiti real run for their money. This is very much comparable with EdgeSwitch 8 port 150w and even similarly priced with some really interesting features. I'd go as far as saying, that if I were to chose betwene it and this Aruba switch, unless I needed specifically 24v passive PoE support, I would actually have to toss a coin. Well done.
It's a capable and silent switch and the price is right. I've had it not respond on its management IP for local management requiring a reset. After the second time this happened, I pulled it out and put in a Unifi.
I just purchased a 1930 8-Port POE Switch and will be using it with a Verizon FIOS router and three Instant On AP-11's. Can I use the same SSID name from my FIOS router when setting up the switch?
Looks like a good bit of gear. That said, it does not provide the same features when cloud managed. Please refer LTS' video on that topic. In local mode, it seems very feature rich and a decent price point for sure! Thanks for the video
Can you use a SFP port with a 1000BASE-T Copper SFP to act as the LAN input to the switch from a small server running pfsence. So you don't waste one of the POE ports
The thing I would be interested in seeing is why you would use L3 routing at the switch. I don’t do it because it seems pointless, but I’m open to change. maybe it will make my networks faster.
I wonder about that too. My networking knowledge isn’t too deep. Maybe to optimize performance in traffic between vlans which is better at backplane of a switch with ports split between multiple Vlans than router via uplinks? Perhaps advantage for those who have large network but more basic router with no 10GB uplinks.
I could also see this as way for very large network to reduce number of needs for core routers since you have L3 managed switches, you don’t want all traffic to be routed back to edge routers.
Many thanks Willie for your good review videos. I am actually in the process to upgrade my exiting network and heading towards Aruba Instant on - the 24 Port POE Switch is easy to mange via the Web Portal, but for. Network newbie in the local settings a bit too complex. It’s much better equipped (4 SFP+ Ports and 128GB Switching capacity) and cheaper than Unifi. The only issue I see is that their AP‘s are manageable only via the cloud, even when you want to swap in a few years. What do you think of the combination Aruba 1930 switches with Grandstream GWN 7630 AP‘s vs Unfi stuff ? Aruba and Grandstream are not very well known in Germany. Many thanks Maik
Willie Howe haha! I wish I could! I don't have a connection with any company like that! We barely have Araknis here in Sweden! But I really wish to have one with rear connections in my AV rack! 🥰
Oh damn, so many options. If i have so many options, there can be so many faults or settings being not correct. Its definitly for buisness environment and not for home use i guess

Great video Willie. Been looking at getting one of these switches for a while now. Looks like a clean interface
hi, is the mounting rack bracket is in the box or sold separately ?
It's in the box.
Great Video!
When the switch is in local management mode, is there ANY cloud connection? for status and such?
Shane the HPE AIO switches are so difficult to get as I'm chomping to dump Unifi.
Hi Sir, can you help me how to enable the Poe port? thanks in advance

I have new aruba instan on .. but we plug cable POE not up...only some port..

Thanks Willie, look fwd to your videos, I use hp poe switches sometimes for cameras, these look like a good alternative:)
You did no mention the ip address for local management
Hi Willie. Does local management preclude cloud management and vice versa? The cloud portal has WAY less depth than what you have shown here
I'm using this switch in the company i work and I am not able to disable a port. Can you advise? Thanks.

is it possible to set bandwidth limits (for downstream and upstream) on each of the ports on this switch?

why no console port?
Is this switch very noisy? Heard the 24P PoE one is very loud..
Does it actually boot up instantly and does it have a cli?
Is there a 16 or 24 port version?
Will any 1g sfp’s work?
Hi. I having hearing that it can take 10 minutes for the switches to come back up after a reboot. Is that true?
Love the videos! seems like a great product! I REALLY REALLY wish you would test products from Araknis 310 series! :)

Wowzaa! 😯
