The neck training the two guys are doing is actually quite common in muay-thai training and I do it almost every training. It helps you in clinch when your opponent pulls your head down to knee you in the face. And also helps when someone hits you with a hook.

That sort of exercise is fine but its better to do it with a brace or a towel with some weight attached to it, that will make your neck unmovable.
