    Hey buddy
Watched your video today and i must say its very informative and properly explained and as i own ecosport signature edition diesel i also faced tyre cut and alloy damage issue within 6 month of owning ecosport but then i changed my alloys to 16 inch and tyre profile was 215/60r16 and let me tell you this profile is not suitable at all for ecosport as this proflie is used in nexon but its not for ecosport
I had a good experience but my car starts little wobbling when i brake it at high speed and steeting got little hard but i had not to worry about tyre cut because its 129 mm side wall so i used it in rough terrain but because of this heavy tyres i have to accelerate too much to give pick up
And this time i was thinking to have 215/55r16 in my car but was confused and after watching your video i m clear so thanks for this video 😅

You are right. I changed to 215 50 r17 yokos. There is improvement in driving and comfort level but last month the side wall got carcked when I went to a pothole. I think based on our road conditions the 225/50 will be good

215/50 are not enough for our roads. It offers marginal improvements over stock tyres that's why I skipped them. With 225/50 I haven't faced any issue for last 22k km. Based on my personal research the best options in 17" are 225/50 or 215/55. Do refer video for exact pro and cons of these profiles. Happy Driving

Any issues with ABS or traction control?
I'm in USA. I drive high mileage and live in a rural area. Same issues. I'd like to upsize to 225/50/17 .
I've heard by some that size fits fine. I heard from otes say that they can rub and full load or when towing or a full body roll. I've heard that it's rear tires that can touch the outer fender.
In the USA and European countries the Ecosport is rated for light towing. Towing a small trailer and tongue weight squats the rear end down and I'm told could present issues.
Seems possibly the only possible upsize is 215/50/17.
Also both the 225/50/17 and 205/55/17 re both just over the 3%general upsize rule. Hence why I asked about ABS or traction control issues.

    • @myecoboost

No issues faced with traction control and ABS. Have seen both these getting activated at times. If you want to be on conservative side than go for 215/50/R17. There will be improvement in ride quality.

Hi, yes you can downsize to 205/60/R16. But you will have to let go of 17" alloys. I find the alloys best in class with amazing looks. I have been using 225/50/R17 for past 2 years now and have done 21k km. Ride comfort have improved a lot. Wider tyre provide better traction. I normally do speeds around 100kmph and cars is more stable than stock tyres. If you want to be conservative go for 215/50/R17.

There is no need to change tyre profile.I am driving my car with 205/50 R17 apollo tyres ,about 4000km no issue, about 18000km with Bridgestone and no issue. However my all four stock tyres were burst before 500km. My car is of march2019 ecoboost 1.0petrol and most of the driving is in hills of uttarakhand (Nainital $ Almora).Handling of car is exceptional while ride is bumpy on rough roads.Driving pleasure is very good.speed range between 40 to 60 km/hr in hills and up to 80km/hr in plane roads. However I feel vibration on steering at the speed of more than 100.

@myEcoBoost I need your bit of help / suggestion, actually my ecosport S March 2019 model is having bridgstone ecopia 205 50 R17 tyres, now 2 tyres got bulge and side wall damage - hence, I am planning change all my tyres.. vikas told me that you are suggesting / using 225 50 R17, can u please help and answer below points:-
    • Isn’t 225 50 R17 will be too wide and will touch body chasis while taking turns / u turns / deep potholes?
    • As the 225 50 will be too wide - don’t you think it will make the steering hard, pick up low and fuel consumption more?
    • Is there any impact suspensions / warranty of vehicle / insurance of car?
    • How many kilometers you drove with 225 50 17, how is your total experience with these tyres ?
    • Do you suggest 225 50 17 with continental or Michelin or Pirelli? Or shall I just keep the same size 205 50 r17 and change the tyres to Michelin pilot ?

    • @myecoboost
      @myecoboost  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Aditya,
Let me start with a brief history because of which I made this choice. I have EcoSport S 2018, In initial 1 year (15k km run) I got 2 sidewall crack, 1 tyre bulge and 2 Alloys got damaged from inner side. I am a sedate driver and don't drive rashly. The alloys got damaged when I was cruising at 75 km/h on a National Highway (NH) around 7pm in evening. There was a vehicle in front so I was unable to detect a crater sized pothole on a toll paid NH. I applied brakes and would probably have hit the pothole at 60-65 km/hr. The alloys got bent and I was stranded at late hours that too with family. So after this incident I straight away changed the tyres.
Now coming to your queries. I had exactly same doubts as you have but I took the leap of faith after doing some research. Whatever I will say is after 2 years of usage of 225/50/R17 and approx. 22k km run. I am using Yokohama blueEarth tyres. They are super silent with negligible tyre noise.
      What you Loose
      1. Steering hard [ Yes, it will become slightly hard but not a deal breaker ]
      2. Pick up low [ Yes, slight reduction because of wider tyres, doesn't matter unless you wanna take it to a F1 track :) ]
      3. Fuel consumption [ Yes, I personally observed decrease of 1-2 km/l ]
      4. Odometer/ Speedometer Error [ It will be off by approx. 3% who cares ! ]
      5. Suspension [Didn't face any issue in 2 years, but Ford can use this as an excuse to deny warranty on suspension and related parts]
      6. Turning radius [Slight increase again not a deal breaker]
      What you Gain
      1. With wider tyres you get more traction, Ride quality improves a lot.
      2. Because of larger contact area of wider tire it will brake faster.
      3. Earlier in potholes/speed breakers car used to wobble it was very unsettling , now its much better.
      4. No Sidewall bulge/crack issue in 2 years [I drive in NCR and Himachal Pradesh, and have done good amount of run on bad roads ua-cam.com/video/1WUIzHtEPnQ/v-deo.html]
      5. Ground clearance will slightly increase
      6. Biggest of all Peace of Mind :)
Word of caution : Upsizing does not provide a license to abuse the car. One need to be always careful of hitting bigger potholes at high speeds. Wider tyres help a lot but still cant guarantee 100% safety.
If you want to be a little conservative 215/50/R17 is also an option but the gains will be less as compared to 225/50 and so would be losses. I didn't choose this profile because 215/50 might still be insufficient given our road conditions. 205/50 of Michelin I don't think will solve problem there is a very high chance of facing same problem again as problem is not with Bridgestone/Michelin etc its because of less sidewall.
