Dude you killed it. And whoever flamed you for being thorough and replacing parts instead of putting band aids on, I applaud you, you made the right decision. This car pretty much makes me want to join in on the sweepstakes...
This has been the most relatable and informative of the whole series. I have a 2013 wrx and I plan on using this as a roadmap for evrything I want to do to my car. Super clean install, great job.
This is going to be the slickest STI ever, perfect blue, hella bass, crazy power. These are the best videos too, so satisfying and fun to watch, thank you throtl
There's an alternate 20-pin harness out there (similar to the Metra 70-7552) that includes the 3 wires for steering wheel controls. That avoids needing to splice into factory wires. And see Tedlasman's post (below) about the alternate OEM fascia / trim piece that has a normal double-DIN opening. That averts needing Metra's dash kit, and you re-use the OEM metal brackets from the OEM head unit.
Man all the work involved in these Throtl Car Project Giveaways is crazy. I never new it could get that detailed. Thank you Throtl for your automotive enthusiast obsessive-compulsive disorder. Love the Build Vids, keep em coming.
That’s a badass subie built. Whenever I get a notification from you guys I automatically drop everything I was doing and watch your guys built. Good content guys. Keep it coming ❤️ From Kansas City
Wrap the arm rest in suede type material but then stitch in with green color like engine bay piping.. embroider throtl onto the center of the arm rest along with sponsors or guys names that worked on it to put such a beautiful car together!! Or maybe red stitching to match the sti logo on the seats! Give me a shout out if you use any part of my suggestion lol
Even though I know it prob sucks for the gang ,its so awesome hoe much the respect small details and just how much there willing to do to make it perfect honestly . Mickey just pulled the whole car apart damn near to install a radio ,its simply unheard of ,good job guys whoever gets it surely is lucky !!
At this point I don't even care who's gonna win it. Whoever this gonna be, (s)he will certainly be the happiest person on earth. This Sub is absolutely gorgeous !!! The yellow hook at the back really pops out, nice addition ;)
Kicker and Rockford fosgate are my two go to speakers both solid speakers to use depending on speaker size Kicker proved to be strong speakers in autos.dam it sounds great Mickie great choice.
Damn, this is turning out to be a seriously complete build. Instead of a list of mods, can we get a list of the things that your didn't modify, LOL. Incredibly clean work as usual Mickey, super inspirational!
Been following this build since day one, and its just gets better and better, the car and micks beard fades, lucky sun of a gun who will win this beauty, good luck too all, stay home stay safe. Subiegang
so many useful tips, wish you guys did this 4 years ago when i was doing my hatch audio! i need to go install that mic still! btw, there is a USB connector in the arm rest, you can hook that up to the head unit instead ;)
Wow... that kicker system sounded awesome...with what the microphone picked up...you can tell the quality is top notch. You should cover the center console with same the material that’s on the headliner 👍🏽
This is super helpful! I've been putting off installing my component speakers for EVER as i couldn't find a good place to hide the crossover for my 08 STi!
That groove in the magnet is for the coax version. That vent needs to be open or it will affect the cooling of the voice coil and overall performance. You'll want to remove that deadener from the opening.
Hi, Just a comment about crossover placement in the doors. Putting the crossovers too far back in the doors will eventually cause some sort of breakage of components when slamming the door repeatedly. Putting near the door hinge is a good spot but putting in the kick panel is a better. Yes more work but failure won't be a problem in a year or so. Yes I am a veteran installer and have seen this failure a few times now. Nice to have a Amp/subwoofer system that is basically plug and play. We usually spend hours hooking all this stuff up. Customers just can't understand why it takes so long. Lots of wiring lots of car panel removal and fabrication for components. Nice to see a nice clean install! Good job! -Jon
Dang!! Look at all the comments, But I actually got a chance to DRIVE IT, yes i that Subaru. I personally added the sensors and turned off the tpms light. My coworker was like dude that car is on UA-cam, looks nice on UA-cam! Great Video and sweet car!
That blue LED on the bass control knob looked pretty bright. I'd probably cover it or try and remove the LED personally, that would drive me nuts on night drives!
Hey Mickey Please dont block the hole on the back of the speaker with your tape! its called a Pole Vent and allows the voice coil to cool itself. blocking the vent will cause the speaker coil to overheat and wear out
You guys should still get the SI Drive knob from WC Latheworks. He makes Titanium trim for Subarus. I have the full sweep in my STI. Support small business. 👍🏻
Love all the work to keep it clean. As mentioned shouldn't have covered the hole on the minds in the door. I also wouldn't have run the USB to the glove box for use in Android Auto or Carplay. Armrest or pocket mounted for sure. Otherwise its dope and anyone winning this car will love it!
SOS did a really good change of colour paint job, it showed when u took off the door panels 📛👍. By the way next time don’t block the pole venting at the back of the speaker like you did with the sound deadly next time, other that that great job.
Wish you guys did a Mitsubishi Lancer build that functions and drives better then an Evo. Like a can you build a Lancer to look and function as good or better then a Evo
Is there sufficient aftermarket support to provide overfenders, diffusers? In BMW world any plain 3 series can be boosted but it will never look as good as the M all skinny, and with aftermarket that doesn't give a sh*t for non-M.
Soldering and some heat shrink would have been a much cleaner way of doing the radio harness to the metra harness. But either way butt connectors are better than the old twist and electrical tape lol
I say instead of buying a new one, get it reupholstered with nice leather and a fluo yellow stitching to match the accenting in the car. There’s a lot of beautiful fluo yellow accenting in the exterior but not much in the interior
"Most badass," lol. Not "Baddest Ass" speakers (around 2:05). I hope they're not the baddest ass speakers, which would be a downgrade. Great video, regardless. You guys are awesome and the color composition on the STI is amazing!!
There's an alternate head unit trim piece from subaru that used to be jdm only. It fits a standard 2 din perfectly, and you don't need the bezel kit. I got it for my car. I think it's this part: parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_2009_Forester-25L-TURBO-4AT-XT-Limited/Panel-Center-C0C4/49277387/66065SC000.html
I'm fairly sure your link (66065SC000) is one of the normal fascias (with the larger than 2-DIN opening). 66065SC130 definitely is one with the 2-DIN opening (color two-tone silver/black). It was used in some Forester models in the USA that got the TomTom nav HU from the factory. There are also still several JDM fascias available in different colors from JapanParts and avoJDM: 6065FG020 (dark silver), 6065FG000 (lighter silver), and 66065SC030 (two-tone). All of these run about $80 plus tax and/or shipping.
Hey quick thought I had. It's probably worth your guys' time to take the car to a Subaru dealer to get the Takata recall done if you haven't already. I just figure it will save the winner the time so they don't have to go get it done.
Wrap the armrest in the material like the headliner of the car
I was thinking the same thing but I feel like that material would get torn up with your arm constantly rubbing on it. What do you think?
@@albertthejester2668 Yeah true. I guess it depends on how often the arm rest is being used :)
Dude you killed it. And whoever flamed you for being thorough and replacing parts instead of putting band aids on, I applaud you, you made the right decision. This car pretty much makes me want to join in on the sweepstakes...
Custom wrap the armrest, for sure. Less waste and it'll look great. Amazing work as always, Mickey!
I was thinking the same thing. Why have another addition to your pile of old parts..
This has been the most relatable and informative of the whole series. I have a 2013 wrx and I plan on using this as a roadmap for evrything I want to do to my car. Super clean install, great job.

Man all the work involved in these Throtl Car Project Giveaways is crazy. I never new it could get that detailed. Thank you Throtl for your automotive enthusiast obsessive-compulsive disorder. Love the Build Vids, keep em coming.
FYI,
you shouldn't have covered the rear portholes on the components. That's there to let the cone breathe.
agreed i also commented the same
Yep you guys are all right👍🏾
Yep. Voice coils could overheat with the vent covered.
I poked holes guys. 👍🏼 Thanks for the comments.
I believe the notch is so it can still breath if its mounted against wall
That’s a badass subie built. Whenever I get a notification from you guys I automatically drop everything I was doing and watch your guys built. Good content guys. Keep it coming

The center vent in the magnet of the kicker component 6.5 speaker needs to be clear in order for the voice coil to keep cool while playing
you're such a clean builder, its amazing

what is your problem with punctuation???? "there willing"?? So many mistakes
This probs has to be one of their best builds on a reall
I've been following the build for this SUBI and can honestly say that I haven't seen one as sick as this one yet! Gnarly car! 🤘🤘🤘
At this point I don't even care who's gonna win it. Whoever this gonna be, (s)he will certainly be the happiest person on earth. This Sub is absolutely gorgeous !!!

Do the JDM armrest extension. Its miles better than the stock one.
24:05 What are you talking about, that is the JDM armrest extension.
Wow... that kicker system sounded awesome...with what the microphone picked up...you can tell the quality is top notch. You should cover the center console with same the material that’s on the headliner 👍🏽
@ 7:46 - 9:16 say it with me ... Mickey Spec!!!! this is why we love you guys at Throtl.... love the details!!!!
After seeing you write "Merta" on the screen, I can't unsee it. Well done. No sound deadening put on the doors or anywhere??
Thanks for doing all this work on my car for me mick
I think wrapping that arm rest in some suede would be perfect. It'd tie it into the rest of the upgrades.
21:40 “to the deck” thats some old school 90’s talk right there 👍
Mickeys attention to detail is INSANE. A true professional
Wrap it in sway. Bring balance between all the plastic and leather
Wrap the arm rest with alcantara and add extra padding. Also the ebrake boot and shift boot as well.
Genius move for the crossover
Audio as well?, details details details love it
Custom wrap the armrest and the boot cover for the e brake, possibly even the shifter in flouro yellow. Tie everything together.
I can’t get over how sick that Subaru looks!!! I want to roll up to my students next year and rev the engine.. scare them with that boxer 4!!!
You guys know how to make a good car into a great car so well
And the build of the year goes to throtl simple but very clean all areas cover no shortcuts
Mickey's bearded cam fade away!💪 bro i have (4) 8" subs in my mustang and they thump!
Get the 2010 forester headunit trim. It’s got a smaller opening that perfectly fits the head unit you bought.
YES! OEM Audioplus PLEASE PLEASE make a kit for the Lexus CT200H.
CT200H crew!
What a awesome car with a fresh audio nicely done. That arm rest needs to be wrapped with that headliner material.

I just saw " building the ultimate" 😂😂and i couldn't miss the video keep safe guys
That blue LED on the bass control knob looked pretty bright. I'd probably cover it or try and remove the LED personally, that would drive me nuts on night drives!
The center armrest is sold in all sorts of OEM types at subispeed
Dude boss job repurposing that plastic in the door to create a pocket for that little kicker box 🤘🏽
Hey Mickey Please dont block the hole on the back of the speaker with your tape! its called a Pole Vent and allows the voice coil to cool itself. blocking the vent will cause the speaker coil to overheat and wear out
Dream car for sure
Change the key ring with some acid green color
Ricardo Brito awesome idea

use the same vinyl wrap used for car exteriors for interior trim panels, cheap and loads of choices, carbon fiber, chrome, colors, ect.
This had the potential to become a full 2000 style audio build, but this is still nice.
Throtl ViP squad good evening Mickey awesome more Subaru STI content putting in killer sounds in the STI 🔉🔉🔉👍😊
Damn I'd be rocking some metal while taking on a dirt road with that Subie👍👍👍
SOS did a really good change of colour paint job, it showed when u took off the door panels 📛👍. By the way next time don’t block the pole venting at the back of the speaker like you did with the sound deadly next time, other that that great job.
I bought to merches bought caps and posters and enter two entry that car looks good on my wall
Imagine being the guy that spent 1$ and win the giveaway
Thats gonna be me bro. Mark my words 🙌🏼
Remember the guy who won the MR2, I think he just bought a floor mat then boom winner of the MR2.
That's what dreams are made of!
Great work Mickey and stay safe!
🔥🔥 love the videos you make

my dream car Subaru STI, how I wish I can drive it home also, my dream will be a dream. i will watch this EP everyday.
I say instead of buying a new one, get it reupholstered with nice leather and a fluo yellow stitching to match the accenting in the car. There’s a lot of beautiful fluo yellow accenting in the exterior but not much in the interior
Should have used Stinger Roadkill RKFR6 FAST Rings worth every penny!
For USB you could have bought a USB adapter to replace the car lighter instead of throwing the USB in the glove box
The vent on the back of the speaker souldnt be covered it's used for cooling.
Awesome work man. Very neat
every perrin part they make in highlighter yellow except the si drive cover
27:48 He just had a Tommy Wiseau moment there
my god this car is perfect. I wish I had the money to make my 09 hatch like this
"Most badass," lol. Not "Baddest Ass" speakers (around 2:05). I hope they're not the baddest ass speakers, which would be a downgrade. Great video, regardless. You guys are awesome and the color composition on the STI is amazing!!

Mickey really do be vibing doe
CLean install!
Amazing sound
Y’all should paint the m3 coil pack cover the M Motorsport colors
Cover armrest in seat suede material
Keeping mah fingers crossed for this sweepstakes 😭🤞🏼❤️🔥
What kind of sound deadening was used and where could I purchase? About to do an audio upgrade in my Jeep and really looking for some.
Car is sick. Subaru armrest extension, I’ve got one if you guys are interested.
Frank Malvaez - DM me on insta
@@mickeyandrade3435 I emailed info@throtl since I don't have insta
Throtl’s best giveaway car yet.
You should do a BURNZ AUTO carbon fiber arm rest !
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 sounds sick you did a great job I use to work on installing stereo but that was years ago
The plastic piece you mounted crossover to has to have 0 vibration or the crossover will fail over time.
K T - There are no 0 vibration environments on an automobile.
@@mickeyandrade3435 that's cop out answer lol. You can mount vibration dampers like pieces of rubber where the plastic piece mounts to door.
I think it would have been cool to vinyl wrap the interior pieces or just sand and paint them instead of new ones. Could have color matched to the car
Any places where you might get rattling or panel vibration? That would be the whole car :)
Mickey you covered up the breathing hole for the door speakers
Really want you guys to do a G37 sedan, can only imagine what you’d do.
I’m trying to get into all that green
Gelenvader3 - There isn’t a shred of green on the car.

Hiya the sweepstakes for the STI is it available to the UNITED KINGDOM??
