Whoever gave Alex his first camera set us all off into a reality where we now get this amazing storytelling in both the drifting world and fgc. We did it. We are winning
I learned when i sat in the passenger seat and started shiftng for my friends when they would talk on the phone. They would steer, accelerate and push in the clutch and i would shift with my left hand. They would trip out that i can do it with my left hand😂 without looking at the h-pattern. Now if i would to drive a rhd, it would take me a couple hrs to be fully adjusted to it😎. That's with learning the clutch grabbing point and turn signal. Driving a manual transmission for 25+yrs really helps adaptability😅. I'm coming from grip and drag and ocassional fwd drift😂.
Great video! Love his aggressive style and hopefully get to drive with him next time I visit Japan! Regarding sim to practice RHD, It helps to an extent depending on your sim setup and car setup. I practice rhd on the sim for about a month before flying out to Norway/Sweden to go Ice drifting with the Fredric and the bros out there this past Feb and it definitely helped with some of the muscle memory and different view point. The thing I struggled with the most was finding the right amount of strength to pull the handbrake and pressing the clutch as the same time as it was mentally messing with my natural lhd driving style. After about an hour of driving I got use to it.
Hahah sounds about right! A few years ago I was spending time between japan and usa. I would import and export cars so I was around lhd and rhd and then driving on left side of the road and right side. I don’t think I ever approached the cars from the correct side to drive during that time haha
i have been sim drifting for a few months now, the main difference for me, it was the position of the car, i got the chance to drive a rhd 240sx (i have a lhd 910 sr20) and it was hard for me to keep the same line as in my 910, i kept going wide and then i figured that i was positioning the car a lot more to the rigth on track, but after a day and a half i was going back to my usual line
i learned how to drift on my friends rhd sim and it messed me up when i tried to drift lhd irl. Now if i drive rhd it takes me 2-3 runs to remember what side the handbrake is on lol.
Content like this is what drifting needs more of. Awesome story telling
