Safety car for the mirror would have eliminated all these issues, penalty, punctures, potentially damage to Bottas, and flying debris might have hurt a driver! Poor decision!
You can clearly see they were playing 2 games 1. Waiting for MAX to pit then issue YELLOW FLAG so he finishes in the mid of grid to "shame" him 2. Preserving 2nd place WDC and WCC for the last race They obviously couldnt handle the criticism for handing out PENALTY to max so they just said you know what fuck them all give them all harsh penalties LMAO
I am fine with the penalty for ignoring double waved yellows being hard as long as it's applied to all drivers. Double yellows means there could be a marshall on the track and i've sadly seen one F1 marshall hit by an F1 car at full speed, I never want to see it again.
Even my young nephew saw it could potentially be on the overtaking line on the straight.....so get it removed. What were the FIA going to do, wave double yellows for the rest of the race. Complete SH 1 T show from the FIA.
why do people not realise that ignoring a double yellow has led to a 10 second stop and go in 100% of previous cases. so why would this be made any different?
Because of those tv "experts" in post race show and other channels who drag the question whether it was too harsh or not. I'm more worried why Lando didn't lift? And did he even see double yellow ( only focused on Max!?)
simply cuz it was there and not there ,there and not there🤣. As a driver there was no smoke , no cars stopped , u are so focused driving and from the cockpit and if u dont look to the left on a main straight u would not know there is a double yellow. Looking at the severity , it wasnt like he saw a car stopped and just kept going flat in double yellow or tried to gain an advantage .A penalty must coincide with the severity of the action committed .Plus the fia are so slow they give it half an hour after that happened and that too just after a sc .Thats when its totally unfair .
I'm fine with the penalty for not slowing down, when everything was correct. But this was not double yellow, the board was static yellow/organge. double yellow would be flash with triangles. So was this then really double yellow? Also the green board was missing on the next board/post what is mandatory to clear a yellow. So was it really a yellow or already a yellow with red stripes? Where slowing down ist not required.
@@hipotenuza5663 he dint see it as he said , its not easy too see in the cockpit when u are focused trying to catch someone and its not obv as well that there should be some flag thrown out for a crash or something
@@hipotenuza5663 he didn’t see it cause he just isn’t cut out for it. He’s fast and that’s it. Take’s every ounce of concentration to do just that. So if the FIA and it's pitiful race officials would have removed the broken mirror on the track which was inside the only DRS zone on the circuit none of this would have happened. The excuse the FIA gave in response to the criticism is absolute BS. Remember last year in Vegas when a manhole cover came loose during P1 which all but destroyed Carlos's car and ruined his weekend. Just read the FIA's chief muppets reply to questions raised by drivers over the loss of FIA staff and the stupid penalties - He's asked the drivers to mind their own business, wow reassuring that the sports in good hands......
why did Russell got 5 seconds penalty if Lando got 10? can someone explain to me how a safety car infringement is not as heavy as double yellow infringement.
Double yellow flags can mean that there are Marshall out on track or maybe a car has stopped in a dangerous place. Drivers are, supposed to slow, down and,he prepared to stop. The,while incident was a,mess, not throwing a VSC at the very least was a,mistake. If gentrified the VSC I would expect a,full safety car to have been used it there wasn't a bit enough gap to allow a Marshall to remove the mittor.
That is the stupidest thing ever. How is it the FIA enforces a massive penalty on Norris because they are placing a high priority on safety.... And yet, they leave mirror on the track... Where that could have been hit by a car, and then smashed into another driver... For caused punctures like it did, when these cars are going over 300 km an hour, and the puncture causes them to crash. Absolute mindless insanity. Someone should be fired for that.
FIA are clowns, they were trying to assess if bringing the safety car out would affect MV's lead and whether it would benefit Norris or any other drivers. F1 is corrupt and Redbull are protected by the FIA.
anyone that has ever driven in a race car knows how flying debri can do untold damage, from tiny rock to a clump of mud or piece of car these projectiles have the potential to kill.
FIA... being Fair? Ahahaha! good one Also anyone else think that Alex should have retired. I mean.. Racing without a mirror seems like a actual hazard FIA... absolute clownshow
Max would have never got that penalty because Redbull are in the FIA pockets. We see that MV has the highest driver points in F1 history but nothing happens, he continues to drive like the dirtbag he is.
F1 stewards must all arrive in the same clown car. Can this huge sport not get professionals to run the races? All the tech and you are better off rolling the dice for the penalty.
The penalty for Norris was unduly harsh because it was issued shortly after a safety car, when the cars were close togheter. This was the equivalent of a death sentence - 2nd to last. It they gave the penalty immediately after it happened (before the safety car), he would have been 6th or 7th.
Penalties apply irrelevant of circumstances. Not slowing during double yellow is dangerous. Double yellow can mean there are marshal or drivers on road. We wouldn't be taking about harsh penalties if we saw a marshal collecting debris when Lando went full speed would we?
@@pianissimo7121 I both agree and disagree. Let me explain. I agree that penalties should be applied consistently during a race as a principle. However stop-go or pit lane drive through penalties should never be issued/applied immediately after a safety car. It amplifies the penalty to a much greater degree, and thus it contradicts the "consistent application of the penalty" principle.
@csmnstoica though one. Here everyone knew safety car was coming up. But imagine if a driver got stop and go, and then someone crashed and safety car came out. And if the driver already finished the stop go penalty, what are we supposed to do? If we create a generic rule, it might have lot of complications. Might be better to ruin a race for a driver once in a season then give really weird penalties all the time. That being said ,I didn't give your suggestions a proper thought so idk. Maybe we can.
Carlos got a puncture in the last corner and Lewis got it after the 1st corner. It seems that it was a combination of tyre wear and aggresive curb riding. The yellow flag incident happened in lap 29 and not in lap 30.
I have zero issues with Lando's penalty, he failed to slow under double yellows, it's an on-track safety issue. The penalty to Max on the grid was ridiculous, again it was a on-track safety issue, driving so slowly on a high speed corner on the racing line was pure idiocy.

why did Russell got 5 seconds penalty if Lando got 10? can someone explain to me how a safety car infringement is not as heavy as double yellow infringement.
Jack Russell must have received a 10 second penalty.

They needed a VSC to just pick up the mirror since that would have cost pretty much no time at all.
Can anyone explain Lando was just over 1 sec behind Max at the time If max had lifted and Lando not He would have run into him ???
He was 1.8s back, saw the yellow, ignored it, closed to 0.7s back.
I don't understand why you argue this when Andrea Stella himself said after the race that Lando didn't lift on the yellows
lifted means going just 0.5 sec slower or 2kph slower most of the times
And how did max set the fastest lap under the same conditions?
he set it after the yellow flags@@kungpowdan9632
