Thank you for reporting on this. As a UArts student, many of us are anxious and questioning what comes next. And the only ones that could provide those answers continue to withold them. If nothing else, this jarring moment galvanized the community to come and show their support for one another, and that is beautiful.
Considering graphic design, UX, and web development roles are projected to grow, we need creatives more than ever. People who think art majors are all weaving baskets don’t know anything about the field -Sincerely a successful designer, animator, and web developer You cannot support defunding art while using a smartphone, using apps, watching movies, navigating websites, or looking at pictures. Otherwise, you’re a hypocrite.
OK. Where are all the famous people, very wealthy artists, who are from Philly? Maybe they didn't attend PSA, but people from Philly have to stick together. Kevin Bacon, Kevin Hart, Wil Smith, Richard Gere, Pink, Bradley Cooper, Tina Fey, Daryl Hall, John Oats, and so many others. Pony up some donations !!! Use your celebrity platform to get a big corporation to finance the school. Am I right? Or what?
That was the Art Institute, another college in Philadelphia for artists. Similarly to UArts, they closed suddenly without warning around 6-7 years ago I think.
get over it? over 700 faculty members just lost their jobs overnight. no warning, a weeks notice is basically illegal. said faculty have also had their healthcare benefits pulled almost immediately. they had the gall to hire *new teachers for their summer courses* and *enroll what was supposed to be a new freshmen class.* the fact that they announced closure so suddenly *after the incoming students made their tuition deposit,* the fact that *not even the people hiring or registering knew,* is nothing we can fucking whimsically skip over.
you've got some balls for telling people to "get over it" Imagine your own college drops the ball on you like this, they give your classmates and staff no warning what-so-ever and now you gotta find a new place to attend, wondering if you can even get reimbursed all the money you wasted.. you gotta be one of the most ignorant ppl out here LMAOO 💀
You are leaving. Wow all the blue hairs in the crowd . Its about us and only us so its gotta be important to us . Did any of them pay for school? They don't care if it doesn't have money they are used to hand outs . .
Literally shut up. Yes, they paid for school. This is about a horribly corrupt school president/administration and potential fraud, screwing over thousands of people. The administration has failed to follow any of the proper procedures required for the closure of a university.
