Polymer Clay Faux Technique: Faux Agate Pendant Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- In this tutorial I’ll be showing you how to create a faux polymer clay agate pendant. I showed this technique in a tutorial a little while back in a faux agate dagger tutorial. A few of you wanted to see the flat version shown in the intro before the video, so after a little while I finally got around to making the tutorial.
This one’s going to be a little different from the last one as I’ll be showing you how to make the purple version rather than the blue and green one I showed before.

Beautiful
These are Incredibly pretty and realistic looking. I love the way you do a list of supplies before the tutorial rolls - very professional.
I love watching you create and hearing the birds and your puppies, it gives you videos a great touch! So happy I found you on my polymer clay journey! #ilovepurple
Bellissimo !
Learning so much from you! I really appreciate the time you take to explain every step and why you do it that way. You always make it look very achievable and easy. Love it. Thank you 🙂
A really good effect....thank you again, Samantha.
To save your poor hands, you can use an acrylic block to press down on your cutter :-)
So easy to prepare, very nice and love your technique you use.
Another great one! Beautiful work, as usual Samantha. 😀 Thank you once again for sharing your talent, you're the BEST. 💜💜💜
Are the stones shiny from just sanding them? What if I don't have that grit for sanding? What does translucent clay do to projects?
I sanded them up to 2000 grit, but I also used a gloss varnish.
Translucent gives a semi transparent effect to a project.
This is a beautiful faux stone. I watched your turquoise tonight, too. Really gorgeous effects. I have some cabs to do, so those might be fun. Thanks!
You've really gifted. Stay positive, ignore all negativity, stay focus and keep doing what you love. God bless you Samantha.
Hi Samantha! Thank you for sharing! It's absolutely beautiful! Love watching you create!!
This is beautiful! I have real stones JUST like this, and this looks amazing. Mine are similar color and size to these, and this is just SO realistic!
So pretty and easy to follow directions! TFS !
Beautiful Work ... interesting technique. Have you done a tutorial for labradorite at all. I couldn’t find it in your Etsy shop . Thanks so much .
I do plan to do a labradorite tutorial, but later on.
Tq so much for sharing this wonderful project. As a beginner I hot to learn lots. How many quotes of resin do you recommend for cabachons. Please advise. Tx in advance. May God bless you
Hi.
I didn't use resin to make the cabochons. Are you referring to polymer clay?
@@JessamaTutorials yes I requested your advice on resin coats on polymer clay pendant
Hola, me entretienes, de principio a fin de cada video, Dios te bendiga, 1000 gracias
Very much interesting and very well explained. Beautiful faux stone!
I can't tell what you're doing with the needle tool. Are you pushing it through? Or dragging it along the outside?
Good video, but would be good to actually show what blue and green colored clay u used for the stones in video thumbnail
You make the best tutorials. Thanks for sharing. This is wonderful.
Can you make the words smaller so that I can see better what you doing
Another excellent tutorial! You've become one of my favorites; you provide really detailed and complete info from start to the finish!
Beautiful. As always. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Hi... Your necklaces looks lovely.. Could you please share a video of how you bead them together?
Thanks Samantha another wonderful tutorial. Stay positive, ignore all negativity, stay focus and keep doing what you love.
Stunning! Excellent tutorial as always. Thank you.
It’s interesting how it appears to have more than one hue of purple in the finished product. Some warmer and some cooler.
Very awesome, when I give it a try I will come back and tell you how it went and thank you so much...
Hi Jessama, how do you finish off your pieces? Do you use resin?
I do use resin, but in this project I used Varathane gloss.
Thank you.
beautiful, it looks great, this could be my next project
A stunning little piece. I have never seen this before . I am searching about this craft but I have not started yet to do anything. Can you tell me pls ,how do you call your special knife. I do not know what to look for. Thank you very much for sharing your project.
It's a tissue blade. I sell them here. www.etsy.com/au/listing/726339191/tissue-blade-set?ref=shop_home_active_10&frs=1
Absolutely gorgeous! You are so talented. I love watching your tutorials! Thank you sooo much for sharing and doing what you do! 👏❤

Beautiful Samantha , I’d love to give this a shot myself !
Beautiful Samantha as always 👍🏻❤️best teacher for polymer clay on UA-cam so thorough from start to finish
Polymer clay Inspired I completely agree
absolutely gorgeous, really inspirational
Ciao, ho provato a farli è sono bellissimi, grazie x il tutorial e alla lezione! Sei molto brava, tanti baci dall'Italia 😉
Why did you use the plastic under your cutter?
So that I can create a domed edge on the piece.
@@JessamaTutorials Thank you...I thought that was why but thought I'd better confirm it.
Love this technique! It makes the stones look very real. Thank you for your time much appreciated.
It's very pretty Samantha.😅
Great job!! Question: what did you use to turn the translucent clay purple? Thanks in advance!
The process of twisting and dragging the needle across will cause a tiny bit of purple to mix with the translucent, giving it that effect
I use purple alcohol ink to mix into the clay to make it purple.
Lovely.
This is beautiful! I am just wondering how you used the renessains vax mentioned at the start? Thank’s
I used it when buffing the faux amethyst piece.
👏👏👏Fantastic!
Hi Samantha , could you make a tutorial on sanding and buffing your polymer clay pieces please ? Also making recommendations on which products you think are best to use for sanding and buffing ?
I will work on getting a tutorial out, but it might take a while. I do have an article on my website that goes into depth on how to sand and what products I recommend though. www.jessamatutorials.com/finishing-polymer-clay.html
Thank you so much 😊
Thanks Sam love your work
Enjoyed making green agate along with your video. And discovered after cutting out a cabochon, if you align the scraps together re-roll, and re-twist you can get more faux agate. Thank you for sharing this technique, love it!
How to color Tansucent Polymer Clay with Alcohol Ink? What is the best Alcohol Alcohol Ink to use Andarondak or Pinata Ink?
Either one will work fine. The Pinata produces brighter colors.
Gorgeous. Your work is amazing.
I'm new to polymer (just got some this week and tried a couple round beads). I LOVE this technique and my favorite color. I must get some translucent and try this sometime. TFS ☺♥
LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
I lovely, thanks - Rose-Brasil
Mettere il sacchetto è geniale! Complimenti 😊
Lovely! Thank you
Just wanted to let you know, whenever I decide to make faux agate, I always look up one of your agate tutorials. Your method works wonderfully well!
Love, love, love it!! The purple and pearl remind me of wampum and look so realistic! Thank you for showing us how to achieve this effect....just so gorgeous!👏💙💜⚪
This stones are really nice
Thank you again for another wonderful tutorial - your work is beautiful.
Beautiful! Such talent!
Can you share where you found the cookie cutter? Or what shape you would call that. Thanks
I found it on ebay. I can remember where. I will be selling that shape cutter on my etsy shop soon. I have a football shape and oval shape on my shop already if you want to check it out. :D
Hello .sorry for my english. T'm french and my english is bad. And i don't understand very Well. My question is : the purple is translucent or normal. ? Your tutorial is very good. Tank you for this tutorial.
The purple is translucent. I have a summary of this tutorial on the website if you want to translate into french. All of my tutorials are on the website with a summary. www.jessamatutorials.com/faux-agate.html
Jessama Tutorials thank 😀
I rarely comment but this is really beautiful! any tips with buffing your pieces? :)
Thank you. I use a dremel with a hand made buffing wheel made from felt. You can also hand buff with felt, but it's better to do it with proper buffing tool.
Well that is so pretty.
Красиво!)
wonderful tutorial. Looks so real.
Hello Jessama, I have really enjoyed your wonderful tutorials. I would have a little question because I prefer to be sure to have well understood. When I prepare the tiny pieces of clay before colouring with alcohol ink , do I have to use not conditioned polymer clay? And also in the following steps I don't need to use pasta machine? Many thanks Cristina
when it comes to conditioning in this technique I prefer not to condition. It seems to encourage mooning in the translucent which is something I like in faux stones.
You don't really need a pasta machine in this tutorial other than when you want to roll out the sheets, but you could use a roller for that.
great thanks Samantha!
È ugualeeeeeee bravissima e grazie per la condivisione 😘😘
fabulous
Love it! So beautiful! I'm new to polymer clay, but this is the exact tutorial I really wanted cuz I love how agate stones look and it would save me using real one when I can just make it myself just the way I want it with colors I like best. Thank you so much!
I love watching you and you used my favorite color
Hi Samantha, please can you explain again the reason of using the needle to drag lines over the stone? Thanks a lot.
It drags the clay with it and creates fine lines which enhances the faux stone effect .
Thanks a lot. Always helpful. I will definitely try it to get the idea of it.
Hi Samantha, this is really pretty. Can you do this tech and make more then one bead at once?
Yes you can, just make the stack of clay you flatten taller so that you have more clay. Then you'll flatten it out and have a larger veneer to work with.
Absolutely gorgeous ! Great tutorial!
Love this one.
Beautiful
THIS IS AMAZING - ah ok cool so you wont put on a satin varnish or finish at all just sand and buff? Do you just use any sander and buffer. Ive just started on my Polymer Clay journey and havent got a sander / buffer yet... def keen though
Yes. I like to use a cotton wheel on a dremel tool to buff.
very nice
marvelous as usual, am addict to your videos and the way you are doing the tutorials, my question is that, what is the alternative of translucent clay, what i don't have it
There isn't an alternative to the translucent unfortunately.
@@JessamaTutorials Ok, thank you dear, in my country Sudan there is no any polymer clay suppliers and it is hard to order online anything.
Cool!
Hi with what do you use to buff it with?
I use a dremel with a handmade buffing wheel made made from felt.
Thank you for this great tutorial,
Stunning! As always.
สวยมาก.
That’s awesome!!!💜
Hemoso 🌹🥰
👏👏👏😘😘😘
Great tutorial!
Beautiful
Love,love,love your work!
So beautiful!
Love this, so beautiful! Tfs
Your video are the best, easy to follow
That was beautiful work and I appreciate your content I love the plastic method!!!
You're very welcome😊🌈
Is there an alternative to alcohol inks?
You could try and use food dyes though I haven't tested them so you'd need to test them first before using them in a project. Alcohol inks are the best though as they're completely translucent.
Samantha, your work is stunning...absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. I enjoy all your tutorials, from the basics to the projects.
Love these. Perfect x
What temperature should I use for the 40min oven bake?
Use what ever your brands recommended temperature is.
