Nassau sucks now. last time i went was 2022, and someone tried to trick me in to following them down a dark alley to "go to the beech", when i can CLEARLY see the Beech from the fucking road! First time i went was in 2018, and the second time all of the port vendors were SUPER aggressive.
In May we were in Montego Bay Jamaica and my wife stayed on the ship and i just went to the secure port area shops. They were just fine, prices were reasonable, and there was no aggressive sellers. It was hot as hell anyway. 😞 For our next cruise, we are staying on the ship in Belize, it is a tender port anyway and the city looks like a slum.
The State Dept does a great job in general and attempts to keep US Citizens safe. To get on their "be ware" list --- several dangerous or even fatal events may well have happened. Believe me, trashing the government is a great activity to the uninformed....However, in a dangerous situation where a US citizen needs help....believe me, you become a grateful fan of the State DEPT
Now with the story out about the ratchet woman smuggling a loaded pistol onto a Carnival ship, forget about unsafe ports. You now have an entire fleet to gamble your life on.
Have you had any sketchy days at port? If so which port and would you go back?
I went to Ocho Rios and will never return. I got harassed by a vendors and hit on a Margaritaville lifeguard. It was over all not a great experience.

You should read what other countries say about the US, just for a little perspective

Thanks for sharing!
It’s Trinidad and “Toe-bay-go”
Columbia like the city or ColOmbia like the country?
I find it funny that the State Department likes to point the finger at other countries and not itself.

Ya, How did that even slip through port security?
I wonder how an HONEST State Department would describe the port of New Orleans and Baltimore 🤔
Any port in the USA.
The port cities these ships, depart from have a higher murder than any of these places he mentioned.
Insufficient control over weapons....that made me laugh...given we live in the USA
