Thank you for this instructional video! I just obtained one of these and had the same problem. I followed your instructions and it is running great. I do not restore professionally but like to try to bring them back to life and pass on the passion for vinyl to the next generation. Thank you again!

Gotta say: really appreciate that you left in the part where you put in the plate on the motor upside down. Very relatable and real!

I'm glad to see that you protected the tone arm during your repair.

Thank You! The Pioneer PL-10 from 1968 needed '"Oil" at the right places! Your video was produced by a so-called experient expert! I understood and was able to follow step-by-step! Hurray - it's running with Beates and Stones from the sixties!

I had the PL-12D MK2 - basically a manual version of this turntable. I used a Shure M75ED cartridge which is a fairly compliant pickup as the tonearm is a good quality one. You're taliking early 1970s equipment here - the start of the era of great, well-built hifi from Japan. Your PL-15R is in terrific condition for it's age.

@@aerialplatforms2053 As long as they're not putting you to sleep. lol. Just use a small dab of crazy glue. You're gluing foam to metal, so you want something that will hold.

@@TurntableGuy No just relaxing! Thanks for the response. I was sure if it would eat the foam so now I know!

Don't know why you didn't remove the counterweight; can only stress arm bearings unnecessarily.

Thank you very much for the video, it was very didactic. I have a question, my PL15-R, sometimes, when it comes back the arm does not stop turning, which component is wrong and needs to be replaced?

at3600L is the best value cart on the market and is the same as a rega carbon. 99.9% alcohol removes old belts in seconds. I restore turntables daily. The microswitch is always dirty. Deoxit or open and clean. Motor bearings clean and lube. Also....belt drive tables are trash and AC sync motor tables without pitch control are by far the worst vintage tables. The main platter bearing is always gummy and dirty. Flush and relube. Whole process takes about an hour. 2 more to wet sand a polish the dust cover. Best part of this table is the look. When taking the motor apart, dont pry it. That is not good. Flush with alcohol while spinning the spindle. It will soften the petrified grease and release. Pry and pray is going to ruin the bearing.electronics stores sell swabs thst do not shed fibres. Qtip in a bearing will work, but risks leaving behind fibres that will negatively effect bearing performance. This guy is ok, but a bit ham fisted.

Thanks for your opinions. I also restore turntables daily for the last 30 years. I have never had a stuck motor bearing before and can assure you that my prying was pretty gentle and did not ruin anything. But, you know, I'm rather "ham-fisted".

No you should use grease on that type of bearing silicon carbide greece

Thank you for your comment, but no, I disagree. We're not talking about an automotive bearing here that's spinning at 3000 rpm. With regular oil changes, that bearing will be quieter and smoother with the lubricant shown in the video.

you need to remove the rubber motor bushes and soak them in warm soapy water rinse them off and reinstall
