You always do an amazing job and very detailed as to what happened and the outcome. Another great job flightChannel, thank you for sharing your video's and your time spent on them.
No, this was in '79, where the avionics we had were nothing like the equipment we have today. The early Carousel inertial navigation system was the most advanced flight management system available commercially. As I remember, one could pre-flight enter 8 or 9 waypoints, which the aircraft would then intercept. Remember the waypoints had been changed, without the pilots being informed. They simply had no clue where they were, so were unaware of terrain.

It feels like a professional cinema movie first but the videos you make in qualify just better and better. I was shocked to see not just the crew, but innocent peoples lost their lives in this accident. I say this is the crew's fault, why they didn't made a go around when they saw the whole auto landing not works. I am no professional or pilot too but i mean i have heard never to use the autopilot for ils landings because it is better to control the plane without the autopilot to prevent faults by the sensors and to use the wrong glide slopes and the wron Land 3 and Land 2 marks, so it was a fault by the crew and the safety instructions
How do you expect the pilot to land in heavy fog. Put his head out the window to check for runway lights,? Autopilot is necessary but what can be avoided is the "take the risk" attitude especially in such conditions.
This was really sad. I was hoping that at least one person on the plane would survive, and I was heartbroken when I learned that all the aircraft's occupants, along with all those people on the ground, lost their lives. The safety recommendations are a joke and illustrative of why and how these type of operations will continue to have crashes like this. Incredible poor airmanship. Change of LAND 3 to LAND 3 demands a GoAround. On a LAND3 or LAND 2 appoaches you have to intercept the glideslope from below period. These pilots got a Glideslope alert and they continued. I am not sure what possible modification Boeing would have to do to convince these guys to Go Around “hey Moron Go Around!!!!” It would probably be ignored. These pilots did not perform olike they were properly trained to fly a Boeing aircraft of that sophistication. None of the recommendations address the actual problem... THE PILOTS!!!
Agree entirely. FFS these sort of accidents really annoy me. So preventable from so far back. What were they thinking ? FAA / Boeing can’t really legislate for such stupidity 😡😡

Very informative video... It amazes me how pilots that have no visual references, and are not keeping up with their instruments continue with a landing. One of the flight crew, either the pilot or first officer, should monitor the instruments when approaching minimums. If I were the pilot, and knew that there was a hill past the runway, I would have declared the minimums for a higher altitude.... It was stated that when he did initiate the missed approach or go around, there was not sufficient time and distance to climb out safely. Rest in peace to all those that perished.

I worked for 5 years at a now defunct British B742 cargo airline. We had multiple flights each week from HKG to LUX via FRU and/or ALA. Often the aircraft would be delayed ex HKG. In the winter time, both FRU and ALA were dodgy to say the least. Freezing fog, smoke, no visibility... somehow the airline got away with sending tired crews into there in these conditions. Many times we argued with the commercial people about reasons why we should cuff the flight, park in HKG, and wait it out. Like I said, winter time was harsh. We'd established that the best time of arrival to aim for into FRU (or ALA, we used both) was a small window between 11am and 1-2pm local and time. This was the time of day when the fog would be at its least, and judging by weather reports, the aircraft stood the greatest chance of 'good' conditions. However the commercial dept, who would often say 'there’s no such thing as commercial pressure' would not accept a planned schedule such as this. We’d get our ears pulled if we tried to plan it. Then, one night, we had an aircraft almost reach the Kyrgyzstan border before it turned back to HKG due to weather in FRU. We ceased use of both FRU and ALA soon after. Swapped to KRG (Karaganda) with ALA as an alternate and Astana (AST?) as #2. The conditions were almost always better in KRG and AST than in ALA / FRU. The only reason we kept ALA as an alternate was because to get there, the aircraft had to fly past AST. The odds on all three places being 'out' were minimal. In case anyone wonders, the argument that FRU is more 'on route' for Turkey versus KRG for LUX was not a factor. Our G reg planes could not overfly Russia (they refused permission every single time we asked for a permit), so we had to dogleg down into Turkey in order to avoid. Watching this accident, which affected an aircraft which was way more capable than the 200s that 'we' had, makes me wonder just how close that old workplace of mine had come to disaster, and how many times. What I found incredible was that constantly the safety of operation came second to the cost of delay. Yet, only a year before I started at the company they’d lost 7 crew and an aircraft due to pushing the limits of what one may deem acceptable. Incidentally @theflightchannel , good to see vids like this which make people aware of those incidents which don’t get the same kind of coverage that 'regular' flights do :)
The more I watch these videos the more I conclude that airplanes have gotten too hi tech. What i mean is that pilots almost never have to deal with emergencies until they happen. They may have thousands of hours time in the air but none with an actual emergency. In "lower tech" aircraft I imagine the pilots had to FLY through all sorts of troubles, gaining valuable experience. I don't know. I am not a pilot it just seems that way to me.

Fantastic channel. And it is growing fast. Love the way the clips are done and the music as well fits in really well. Excellent work! My one request would be that you did a longer video with all the different possibilities and scenarios for missing Malaysia Flight MH370. Although most people say it was pilot suicide, we still don't know for sure. It could have been a passenger hijacking, a remote hijacking by a hacker, an on-board fire or depressurisation. Perhaps it was deliberately or accidentally shot down? I know you have already done a video about it, but it only shows the one scenario, pilot suicide. Would love to see a longer, extended video exploring all different possibilities.
Thanks a lot man!! 😊 Regarding the Malaysian plane that went missing, I made two videos! Perhaps you missed the 2nd one. I showed more than one scenario in that one.
@@theflightchannel Incredible Video. Your channel is awesome. Keep up the great work!! Appreciate if you can let me know what soundtrack you used for the opening of this video.
The crew lost what is called "situation awareness" unfortunately, many accidents have happened when this has been lost despite all the on board warnings
Based on the information presented they were initially too high on the approach and then tried to dive it in in fog. Stablised approaches with altitude cross checks are all that are required. Pilot Error causes all these lives lost and property damage.
Oh hell yeah..that intro is so GORGEOUS...FABULOUS stuff dude. Didn't know Turkish Airlines had a B747, very good story line and recreation of the event..well presented.
It seems like a pretty weird design feature of the B747-400 that you can continue to have LAND 2 annunciated for extended periods even when no valid glideslope signal is being received. That said, this crew must have been fatigued or woefully incompetent, or both. Monitoring distance v altitude on an instrument approach is really basic stuff. They were simply never in a position to make this approach work.
Great video! Very realistic, especially the way the wings on that 747 were bouncing up and down in the turbulence as it descended towards Bishkek. Amazingly realistic indeed. Once again, brilliant work!
This tragedy was "COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE"! The Captain was a complete idiot to even contemplate an approach to this airport. He should have diverted. That should be standard practice.

Wow, serious bone headed flight crew. Why do some pilots insist on continuing poorly executed zero visability approaches? It's amazing to me in the 21st century pilots still suffer from get there idis. Go around should have been executed when the proper STAR approach couldn't be established in the first place. Totally preventable. Smh
The 747-400 can go down to 0 vis no decision height. As the poster said the error should have been rectified when they didn't hit the altitude restrictions on the star. A go around then and do over and more than likely no crash. Although with this crew it looks like they probably would have messed up something else.
Even if they didn't, shouldn't they at least get some indication when they cross the threshold so they could have executed the go-around then instead of when they reached the decision height after overflowing the entire runway?

Although most people say it was pilot suicide, we still don't know for sure. It could have been a passenger hijacking, a remote hijacking by a hacker, an on-board fire or depressurisation. Perhaps it was deliberately or accidentally shot down? I know you have already done a video about it, but it only shows the one scenario, pilot suicide. Would love to see a longer, extended video exploring all different possibilities.
Thanks a lot man!! 😊 Regarding the Malaysian plane that went missing, I made two videos! Perhaps you missed the 2nd one. I showed more than one scenario in that one.
Sorry, no I hadn't seen the other video. I'll check it out now 😊 don't know why I doubted you lol
Can you do a real recent crash?
@@theflightchannel Incredible Video. Your channel is awesome. Keep up the great work!! Appreciate if you can let me know what soundtrack you used for the opening of this video.
Hey TheFlightChannel ! Your videos are amazing and i appreciate your hard work!!
The crew lost what is called "situation awareness" unfortunately, many accidents have happened when this has been lost despite all the on board warnings
Situation awareness...sounds like a fancy way of saying, NOT PAYING ATTENTION!!
This is one of those channels who are putting hard work and dedication to make sure it is successful!
Most awaited video 😗 You are one of my best youtuber ☝️
Thanks!! I’m glad! 😊😊
A video idea could be about the Chapecoense disaster, Lamia 2933. Love the channel
I love watching your videos! They are so interesting and informative! Keep up the good work :)
I really love FlightChannel. The way making video is awesome. My hobby is watching the channel's videos. Hats off!
Failed to mention the root cause of the accident: the continuation of an unstable approach.
Very good. Very nice video. Keep up the good work!
Based on the information presented they were initially too high on the approach and then tried to dive it in in fog. Stablised approaches with altitude cross checks are all that are required. Pilot Error causes all these lives lost and property damage.
3 videos in 1 week. Great job!
Omg, can u start putting the music credits In the description?!
Ikr
Thank you for sharing your videos with us your channel is the # 1in UA-cam...anyway,rip to the victim and condolence to their families
Oh hell yeah..that intro is so GORGEOUS...FABULOUS stuff dude. Didn't know Turkish Airlines had a B747, very good story line and recreation of the event..well presented.
Thanks a lot man!! 😊
By the way the 747 was operated by ACT Airlines.
Turkish Airlines doesn't have any 747's, but they leased 3 747-400F's from cargo airlines to operate them in routes for Turkish Cargo
TheFlightChannel This the only Turkish 747 of Turkish Aviation History
No, there is more than one 747, Turkish Cargo uses 3 of them (look at their website) and there were lots of 747 in the Turkish Aviation History
flightsimTR Actually, this is the only 747 before the crash,Turkish Airlines leased 3 more 747s.
Queen of sky - Boeing 747
Love your videos. I love how you explain everything. I like your word. Keep it up !
Thanks 😊😊
Hi
Nice video bro keep it up with a good work
I love your channel.. One of my favourite channel
Awesome video! Keep up the good work!!!!!
Great simulations greetings from Finland!
I agree. An obvious flaw.
Great video! Very realistic, especially the way the wings on that 747 were bouncing up and down in the turbulence as it descended towards Bishkek. Amazingly realistic indeed. Once again, brilliant work!
Thanks a lot man!! I appreciated it 😊
Epic video! What is your flight simulator set up?
This tragedy was "COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE"! The Captain was a complete idiot to even contemplate an approach to this airport. He should have diverted. That should be standard practice.
Drew Hassell your so rude
Be a captain first to say that! OK 🤫😡👿👿
You're inspiring us all! So well made man. Keep it up
Your efforts are praise worthy.
Love your videos man.
🙏😉😊
Keep up the good work bro
I never been this fast in a vid!!!! Hehehe. hello notif squad :) And, I am really curious, are you an Aeronautical Engineer?
PatSolUKISS i wish to be one
Bootiful awesome editing
I still always hope that they'll make it. Sad when these beautiful planes are ruined and lives are lost due to human error.
So sad. I have flown on Turkish Airlines many times and have had nothing but excellent experiences. Excellent every step of the way. I would fly them again any time.
Beautiful as always! Good job on this video!
Thanks a lot!! 😊😊😊
This was so sad
Even the residents died
They have never expected that they are gonna die that day
Anyways
Awesome video
Out of the world editing
You uploaded 2 videos within 4 days
Amazing
I want to see these daily as I love aviation
But then you used to upload 1video per week
But when I saw your notification today
I was completely amazed
Keep it up
Loved this video buddy! Appreciate your work and sharing it! Could you please do a video on Helios Flight 522, would really appreciate it. Thank you for the work you put in :)
Thanks for the support man!! I’ll see what I can do about Helios 522 😊
you’re one of those people that say you loved the video when it was uploaded 10 minutes ago and it is a 14 minute video lmao
That one was so bizarre. One of few I've seen or know about. Something about overlooking a simple knob for pressurization? Crazy. Cool channel man, sad obviously, but interesting without having to watch hour long documentaries.
S1 15 minutes* Video.
And yes, I'm one of those people, cause just like a singer with a great voice doesn't have to sing an entire song to know that his/her audience loves them, I cared enough to comment cause I appreciate the work. Besides, I've watched all videos of the channel.
You're one of those people, well, you know what you are. Peace.
you are the best youtuber I could imagine
Welp R.I.P. Turkish airlines flight 6491 ;( Great video tho!
Your vids are awesome😁The quality is so high and it’s so realistic that i sometimes feel like I am in that planes cockpit
I am ordering UA-cam to remove dislikes for this channel ... Like who agree
Sachin Tamane hell yea this channel the best
A potential explanation would be if someone lost a loved one or had bad experiences with planes. Obv it has nothing to do with the videos and would be ridiculous but just throwing a thought out.. Or maybe it's bcuz they are assholes lol
Freedom of speech fool
NO
Still there are 404 dislikes. Who the hell doesn't like such a video ...
I really enjoy these vids. Thanks!
Nice Video! Sad crash😢
Your graphics are superb& the information gives the ultimate autopsy of these flights&their circumstances. I offer what may be your millionth "Well Done"!
Im ur fans from malaysia love ur vid😘
-unknown- _guy Greetings sir from Malaysia from Scooby in the USA!
You too have two B777 200' losted.
The decision height for a go around at this airport , surely should be increased ?
We all know you are hard warking for us to make our hearts happy Dont give up! More people will love you and they will love your great content 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Edit: Omg! A heart from the flight channel
I love Fridays because of your channel !! 👌🏻
Heard of this crash before, thx for recreating the incident, love your videos soooo much❤
I love the videos. Just recently found this channel and watching all of the videos. Keep making them!!
Amazing!
Great work! And love that intro!
I have to get up for a 24hr shift in 4 hours.
Ah screw it, just one more video

Alec you do a terrific job with these reconstructions. No one else even comes close to your professionalism. P
????
Good work keep doing......
keep doing what? going to the loo?
Once more an awesome video. As a Brazilian can I ask you a video about 1979 Varig 967 flight Brazil to Japan ? Even today we don't know what happened. Many thanks.
Esse é tenebroso..
Smh
They should have diverted if it was that bad.
The 747-400 can go down to 0 vis no decision height. As the poster said the error should have been rectified when they didn't hit the altitude restrictions on the star. A go around then and do over and more than likely no crash. Although with this crew it looks like they probably would have messed up something else.
A Random Aviator um ok. Whatever floats your boat. I am Canadian by the way.
NORTH American ;)
Even if they didn't, shouldn't they at least get some indication when they cross the threshold so they could have executed the go-around then instead of when they reached the decision height after overflowing the entire runway?
