+Capital ZACK so true - every Thai person I mentioned his name to was clueless; big Hollywood bullshit movies, yes, they knew those, but not this guy! Awful... ;)
I love this video. Such an overdose of talent when Lee Chang-dong, Juliette Binoche, Mahamet-Saleh Haroun, Javier Bardem, Mathieu Amalric and Joe are all standing on the same stage together. Also, check out the bewildering cut to Lambert Wilson having some phone troubles at 7:12.
There best picture choices are not limited to just the English speaking films nor the foreign. It’s an award for any kind of film and any film that wins this award I would rather see then most Oscar best picture winners (albeit some are great)
In that case, 2019 Palme d’Or winner “Parasite” eventually became also a Best Film Oscar winner 2020! Both sides, the cinema industry and Hollywood industry recognized it as truly the BEST MOVIE of the year by far, so language and subtitles were no limitation. (As well as Venice’s Golden Lion Best Film award that happened twice to triumph at the Academy Awards, which went to “The Shape of Water” & “Nomadland” this year! [“ROMA” should have won of course and “Joker” was a strong Best Film frontrunner contender). Still believe more in the Palme d’Or and the Golden Lion than the Oscars, though.
Thai people are crazy for stupid romcom movies which don’t make any sense🙄 Apichatpong and Sayombhu should go to Hollywood RIP THAI MOVIE INDUSTRY Ps. Im Thai i know exactly what is going on in this country
Carlos Antirevilla All Palme D’or movies are boring? I don’t remember being bored through Pulp Fiction, The Pianist, Shoplifters? They seem to pick some good entertaining films
This film was magic, hypnotized me, reached another possibilities in the history of cinema.
this is such an honor, its 1000 times better than an Oscar, yeah thats true Thai people really don't recognize how important this prize is
Bigger than the Oscar......BIGGER!!!!
Always was, always will
also may I add
Better then the Oscar.....BETTER!!!!
The Palme D’or choices never fail to impress me whatever they are!
Always bigger.. who cares about an award mainly only is about It's country
What a great guy. This film is a masterpiece for sure, well deserved
Imagine if there was a global music awards show, a serious award show, as good as Cannes
Thai people are really sleeping on this national treasure

I love how Tim Burton recognizes that he misspelled the director’s name and then apologizes.
A great filmmaker
Beautiful. Hart-warming. Slowing down our ridiculous idea of time.

This is a very nice video. I love how all of the award winers come out and join Weerasethakul at the end.
