    *Lyrics and Translation in English* #JayadevaAshtapadi #GitaGovindam Chapter-5
    sañcarad-adhara-sudha-madhura-dhvani-mukharita-mohana-vamsham |
    chalita-dg-añcala-chañcala-mauli-kapola-vilola-vatasam |
    rase harim iha vihita-vilasam
    smarati mano mama kruta-parihasam ||dhruva-pada||1||
    (”The sweet notes from his alluring lips are producing a sweet expressive melody. His restless eyes glance, his head sways & his earrings play at his cheecks. I repeatedly remember Hari’s attractive blue complexion, his laughter and his humorous behaviour.”)
    chandraka-charu-mayura-sikhandaka-mandala-valayita-kesam |
    pracura-purandara-dhanur-anurañjita-medura-mudira-suvesham (rase harim iha) ||2||
    (“His hair is adorned with a circle of charming peacock feathers, caressed by the moonlight crowns his hair. His lustre resembles a mass of fresh rainclouds & brilliant rainbows colored fine cloth adorns his delicate body.”)
    gopa-kadamba-nitambavati-mukha-chumbana-lambhita-lobham |
    bandhujiva-madhur-adhara-pallava, kalita daras -smita-shobham (rase harim iha) ||3||
    (He lowers his face with the desire to kiss the faces of the gopis in the festival of Cupid. His tender lips are an enchanting soft ruby-red color like the bud of a scarlet mallow flower. The unprecedented luster of his captivating smile spreads across his handsome face.)
    vipula-pulaka-bhuja-pallava-valayita, vallava-yuvati-sahasram |
    kara-charano rasi mani-gana-bhushana, kirana-vibhinna-tamishram(rase harim iha) ||4||
    (His entire body thrills with horripilation when he deeply embraces thousands upon thousands of beautiful gopis with his long arms, as tender as flower petals. All darkness is dispelled by the rays of beauty emanating from the ornaments on his hands, feet and chest.)
    jalada-patala-chala-dindu-vinindaka, chandana-bindu-lalatam |
    pina-payodhara-parisara-mardana, nirdaya-hrudaya-kavatam (rase harim iha) ||5||
    (His forehead bears a captivating tilaka. Its indescribable luster defeats the immense beauty of a restless moon amidst a multitude of fresh rain clouds I simply go on remembering how the Gopis would be bruised by cruel-hearted Krishna, who is always fond of inflicting pain.)
    mani-maya-makara-manohara-kundala, mandita-ganda mudaram |
    pita-vasanam anugata-muni-manuja, surasura-vara-parivaram (rase harim iha)||6||
    (The beauty of his cheeks is enhanced by his enchanting, jewelled, fish (makara) shaped earrings. He accepts the role of a hero and generously fulfills the hearts’ desires of his bhaktas (lovers). Attired in pitambhara, Krishna has diffused his sweetness and captivated the best of his followers, including gods, sages and asuras (demons) alike.)
    vishada-kadamba-tale militam, kali-kalusha-bhaya samayantam |
    mam api kim api taranga-anaga, drusha vapusha ramayantam(rase harim iha) ||7||
    (My heart becomes increasingly agitated by remembering Sri Krishna. After arriving beneath a broad kadamba tree in full blossom, he waits for me while looking around in anticipation. He completely dispels my fear of separation, by consoling me with many clever and flattering words. He quickly delights me with His loving glances.)
    sri-jayadeva-bhanitam ati sundara, mohana-madhu-ripu-rupam |
    hari-charanam-smaranam prati samprati, punyavatam anurupam (rase harim iha vihita-vilasam..) ||8||
    (Sri Jayadeva has presented this poem for those fortunate persons devoted to the service of Bhagavan. It describes the spell-binding beauty of Krishna’s form. It is the very embodiment of remembrance of Sri Hari’s lotus feet and it should be relished after taking complete shelter of the primary rasa of pure bhakti.)
