- You don't need 40+ acres of land to attract deer. It can be done on as little a one acre. In this video I go over all of the things you're going to want to get started on if you're trying to attract deer to a micro parcel.

I'll be honest the trench leading up to your stand covered in wire is the best entrance/exit trail i have ever seen... Well done!!!!
Thanks! It's so effective too. I can slip right in there when they're bedded down right off the edge of the food plot.
Good information to know-I like that approach to your stand with the ditch!
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing
You bet!
I'm about to put in a micro-parcel (~1 acre) in my 10 acres of woods, next to Ag. I'm in zone 8, so I'm accenting with persimmon trees.
By the way I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel, you have an uncanny way of explaining all facets of deer hunting making it real simple to understand. Looking forward too lots of Q&A with you thanks again
Thanks!
Ken, I have a large pond about 70 yards from an area where I have a stand. It is wooded on two sides ,I was hesitant to add a waterhole. I did finally decided to add it and have had get results. I think they like the fact that it back in cover and close to security and bedding. I would highly recommend trying it. Start with a half barrel. I’m putting in a 100 gallon this spring so I don’t have to worry about filling it up all summer.
Thanks! I'm definitely leaning toward trying it.
I like the trench to your stand, but it would not work for me.
My stand is in flooded bottom ground, and I think this trench would end up being a moat! lol
Good video though!
Yeah, I wouldn't try it in the low spots. You can probably get a pretty decent stand of tall grasses growing there that you could allow to fall down over a fence like mine to create an above ground tunnel though. Just a thought.
@@HobbyHarvest I have actually planted Egyptian Wheat around the perimeter of my food plots. It was almost too good, as it grew to a height of nine feet! Luckily, my stand was on eight foot legs!!!
What is your recommendation for a 10 acre property that has a creek year round and is heavily wooded? Several oaks but also pine. I am feeding corn but would like a food plot of some sort. Thanks
Keep as much thick cover close to the ground as you can but open up the high canopy. You'll need as much light as possible on that food plot. But if you have a safe secure little honey hole food plot in a thick area, it's going to be very attractive the to the deer in your area.
Hey ken check the comments I put on the manure for food plot vid you put out awhile ago
Sorry green manure for lush plots lol
How do you retrieve the deer that obviously run off the property after you shoot them? Tf I was consistently calling the neighbor to retrieve a buck they had been passing for several years the reply would be no you can’t.
Yeah, unfortunately on small parcels you need to have a good relationship with your neighbors. You may be able to earn their trust by sharing their harvest goals or giving them venison from something you need to retrieve off of their land.
If you neighbor say no, you can call your WMU/ game warden help gain access. Most places its illegal not to do every thing possible to recover your game. I strongly recommend you do this. Your neighbor will be more apt to work with the game warden.
