Honestly, to get a guitar with a jazzmaster neck pickup with having to deal with that jazzmaster bridge is amazing. To get a Tele bridge and bridge pickup when you want to rock out… perfect.
The way the tele pup takes gain is something special. I wish he'd played the middle position with a gain pedal, but it sounds promising. And there's a lot of sounds onboard with the taps for series/parallel on the volume and phase on the tone knob. Very cool guitar!
It really is crazy how good cheap guitars are nowadays. I picked up a Squier Tele recently for a project and I was blown away how nice it was for the bargain basement price I paid. Compared to the Squier strat I started on back in like 06 it's such a big leap forward
I just got one and it is amazing. Great fret work, perfect setup and the pickups sound pretty great for a squier. I usually play a US fender Strat and wanted something with humbuckers. The quality of the Squier blew me away!
@@JDWilkyway I just picked one up today as well! I could not leave the store without it. I am not a tele guy, but had to have this, it just spoke to me!
Hats off to you for saying to potential customers that they are better off buying a decent "budget" guitar, and invest the rest in great amplification, rather than go out and buy that £2000 guitar, that you'd rather put on a wall so you can sell it later, rather than play it. It's nice to see that kind of honesty from a business.
I’ve got the black Troublemaker Tele and on looks alone I would absolutely love it. There just isn’t a flaw with it…fun to play, sounds great, and so many nice features for not a whole lot of money. It’s so good, I’ve been tempted to get the gold one too. I highly recommend this Tele!
I am truly loving my Troublemaker Tele. I have the gold top one like Lee is playing at the opening of the video. Marvelous and surprising little instrument.
One of Pete’s best opening jams in a while, I was beginning to think he became “Guitar George, he knows all the cords, he just doesn’t want to make it cry or sing” 👊🏻❤️🔥
I was on the fence for the troublemaker, then I saw it has NARROW TALL FRETS! I LOVE those frets and they're SO rare in production guitars, the only other ones I know of are American Professional which are like 2000 bucks. Instant purchase. Edit: Just received, I can say without doubt this is one of the finest and most beautiful guitars I have ever played. Unbelievable value for money, get this one NOW
I have an offset Tele from the Paranormal range and I just bought an "Esquire" deluxe with just one pickup and the three way selector switch. Both are brilliant guitars. I'm tempted by that blue Jazzcaster right now.
Bought the Squier Nashville Strat last year. Incredible value. If you’ve a spare coupla hundred and wanna try something different and affordable then the Squiers are well worth a punt.
Having never owned a 12 string, I traded some gear and bought a new open box Paranormal 12 string Jag in Lake Placid Blue. Only had to give $369 US for it…no tax as I traded more than the total. I freaking LOVE it! Such an amazing guitar. Came perfectly intonated and extremely well set up. No sharp frets or buzzes, either. I just can’t get over the quality that Squire is producing these days. Killer stuff.
To y’all’s point on lower priced guitars with higher priced amps….i ponied up and got a Bad Cat jet black. It’s a $2400.00 amp. My most expensive guitar was less than $1K. My pedal board is in the $1500.00 range. My tone is excellent now no matter the guitar (mixture of made in Mexico fenders, squiers, and PRS SE-as long as it’s in tune and set up well).
Thanks guys, nice review of two cool additions to the paranormal line. They both look and sound great. The push pull switch options go the extra mile. I'd like one of each please at these reasonable prices, and yes in the better colour choices you didn't get, sorry fellas.
Love the bossa nova Smells like Teen Spirit at the end. 😅 Love the new offset, it's wired pretty close to the way I would do it, and I didn't think Squier was that crazy but they did it!
I'm not even a guitarist but I still want that Tele! I've always liked the shape of a Tele body but the headstock not so much, so this one having a more start-influenced _painted_ headstock - simply woooooooow! The pickup configuration seems like a good one, too.
Yes - Fender started this off with the Pawn Shop line back in 2011. Still love my Pawn Shop 72, reviewed by Chappers and The Captain right here on the UA-cam :D
I have the gold Tele. I loved the black one but I don’t like the gold hardware. However I do love a gold finish weird. It’s by far the best Squire guitar I’ve owned.
I've been waiting on a Paranormal version of the Troublemaker Tele, as soon as someone does an FSR version thats white like the parallel universe 2 version was I'm snagging it. Also the sounds out of that SJ tele are so nice, I might have to try one out or mod one of my guitars to do the same thing!
I bought the tele troublemaker and it was an amazing guitar for the money, mine the setup is great, neck is nice, I just wished the fretboard were ebony but laurel is alright, also the pickups are crazy good, stays in tune but if you need more stability, you can upgrade it for an ok price
As much as I love my epiphones you've got to give fender/squier credit for continued innovation and design, although they're based on the classic models they're original enough to stand on their own merits and this is something that gibson and epiphone can't do with any success. Not only that, they are under £400, that's just fantastic value, I love the offset tele/ jazz model.
It's like the rule for stereo shopping. Spend 75% of the money on the speakers. Sure there will be marginally better hardware, and perhaps better QC, but the build quality on Squier CVs, G&L tributes, and Epiphone are off the charts. Honestly, the build quality and detail work on the Squier Paranormal guitars has been way better than the Fender Parallel Universe guitars I've tried.
You must not play a lot of guitars. I love Squires for what they are, but there is just no comparison to the materials quality of a Fender, especially a US or Japanese Fender. Things like fretwork and sprout and setup, etc is just luck of the draw out of the box. But with all things set up properly, a Squire just isn't gonna compare man, come on 😂
@@benedekgabor.electronics, hardware, and yeah, wood. Yeah you can “upgrade” but why spend 500-600 hundred on it. You’re just pissing money away. You’ll never get that back if you want to trade or sell it down the road. Look, if it’s all that you can afford, awesome, go for it. But it makes better financial sense to get want you really want.
The only thing holding me back on the Troublemaker is the 21 fret 9.5" radius neck. I mean they really should've gone with 22 frets, and maybe even a 12" radius to fully go Les Paul on it. Still, not a bad one.
I am SO HAPPY the Troublemaker telecaster has a MATCHING headstock. My main problem with the Fender was the headstock was NOT painted. Matching headstock are a non-negotiable requirement for me.
Question for the captain? Did the troublemaker feel weird to play at all? The reason I ask is people are saying the biggest flaw is that the bridge is a 12” radius but the fretboard is 9.5” radius.
so what amp are you guys using here? A video of recommendations on 2000 euro scenario would be awesome. I have a squier and wouldnt mind spending on a nice AMP and nice pedals
I saw one of those when they first came out in the US. If I wasn’t in the middle of building a tele I would’ve bought one of these (probably the trouble maker).
Great idea for a shootout video @ 14 minutes, Lee - £2000 budget, 2 people. One spends £1500 on guitar and £500 on an amp, the other does it the other way round and you see which sounds better and why!
Can anyone confirm whether the poly finish on the necks feels the same since the move to Indonesian production? Whatever formula they used in China, my hand simply just stuck to it. Made moving up and down the neck a pain.

The combination of those pickups is jangly and yet the bridge has that tele bite and roar. It's really nice together actually.
