So my grandmother who recently passed sent me a cd with songs from carola when I was little Years later my class mates big brother was killed in a gang war when he was 18 Then my class mate died in in a car mysterious race at 18 I grew up in a ghetto and this song means a lot to me and reminds me not to ignore those in need of help.
This is not an easy Elvis song to cover because unless one has experienced true hunger and desperate poverty....there will be no emotional connection. There's a reason why we FEEL this song when Elvis sings it - he lived what he's singing about here. Good effort by this singer.
This exquisitely beautiful woman sings this meaningful song with the pathos that is due this song's theme about our brothers and sisters who get a rough start in life by growing up in the ghetto. A black woman who grew up in a ghetto might be more qualified to sing this song, but Carola adds a pathos that pulls emotions of sadness from the hardest of hearts. Bill Gates and other billionaires should rebuild ghettos into desirable neighborhoods for the poor instead of being so power hungry.
whoever that lady might be, I envy her strong voice. But that does not make up for singing totally wrong lyrics in between. You cannot perform a world hit in such dramatic way, while at the same time it becomes obvious that this lady does not even know, what she is singing about.
Its her rendition of the song. if she wants to put her words into the song then she is fine to do that. Its completely different song when Carola sings it compared To The King himself. most other artists do it so why is she gettin stick for doing it! Johnny Cash changed the lyrics to suit his cover of Hurt. Why cant she! Great cover nonetheless and I don't mind the new lyrics they work well and Elvis be so proud of her!
Låten är underbar. Med hennes underbart gudomliga röst lir det ännu bättre!
I Love YOU Carola!
