I don't throw away any photos of possible distant relatives. Whenever family meets up, I perform what is called a "discovery slideshow" of all my scans with unknown people, and record video of everyone casually pointing out who is who. Later i review the video and tag all the digital images, then label the backs of the originals once I've compiled a complete set of descriptive keywords to use as an index for the physical media.
I've been a subscriber with Photomyne for a few years and I love it!! I never had much time to really get involved in sorting albums, so whenever I had time, I would fill in a description of the photo. However since this Pandemic arrived, I've found plenty of time to begin sorting and making albums. But I wish I had known ahead of time how time consuming and confusing it could be. My first mistake was to use my ipad instead of my iphone in making albums. I'm afraid that the ones I made on my ipad will not end of being on my iphone or Photomyne account. LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY!!! i do LOVE PHOTOMYNE and all the new things they have been able to introduce. Tur ning black/white photos into color for one. I thoroughly enjoy working with Photomyne and am so thankful to have access to knowledgeble professionals that will answer questions.l. Thank you for all you do. Linda Smith
Does the app Photoscan Plus allows users to save on multiple devices without a subscription. I am just talking about the basic app without the cloud or server services.

Talk about timely! I've spent six months afraid to make a move toward the photo album scanning I promised to do for my folks' albums.
How do you scan negatives
