Hi Adam this is Eva. I am a disabled 61 year old trying to save as much money as I can living alone. I had the same washer and ordered the same part. I was able to get it done. It took two days though. I will not cuss but that ground wire screw was a aaaaaa pain. At least I know now that I will struggle with it again some day. You are my hero. It took me long because I needed a 5/16 socket and ratchet. I had to wait until my brother in law could get my father's for me. But job is done and now to get back to clean clothes. Thank You so much for the help.

I just did my repair this morning and it didn't take long at all. I didn't use the adjustable wrench. I used a 8mm socket wrench and it worked great. This video is very helpful for all DIY people like myself. Thank you so much for this repair video. I'll keep your videos in mind the next time I need to fix something.

This video helped me with looking and assessing what was wrong with my washer. The lid switch had come apart into two pieces and was no longer able to be activated. Took the switch out, put it back together, reinstalled, boom fixed. Thanks a lot!

Thanks! This worked for me. Mine was an old Kenmore (made by Whirlpool). Only had to remove 2 screws on the lower front panel to to lift it up and disconnect the wiring harness. Most difficult part was getting the ground screw off---used the wrench as you suggested but hard to work it when you can't see it!! Now the spinning stops when you lift the lid. Back in business 👍 👍.

Thank you so much 0:03 0:03 Adam-I struggled with the procedure a little bit different than your washer..I had to remove some plastic covers before I could see the screws... there were a couple of times when things weren't really working but I persevered and I'm very very grateful to you for making this video. People can generally do more than they think they can but they lack confidence-😂😂

My AMANA goes through the second to last function it does do the final spin. The lid switch seems fine. The girl who sold it to my said it's just a programming problem. After my 100th reprogramming effort it still does complete the final spin so I must pull out the heavy wet feather filled duvet. I have the duvet hanging on my door. In a day or 2 itll be dry enough to put in my dryer.
I put a small load of cloths 1 hour ago and reprogrammed it yet again ( heavy, normal rince) and just waiting to see if that worked. I'm not hopeful!
I had it unplugged to factory reset my washer.

Your video really helped me out today, thanks!! You explained it well and the fix went smooth. The only thing I did differently, was spliced the ground wire. I cut the old ground wire and spliced on the new ground wire with a crimp cap. Then I zip tied the ground wire it to the gray wire sheath to keep in in place. Thanks again.

Thanks! This helped a single woman be able to fix her roper washer lid switch herself! ☺ It was a bit of work trying to get the grounding wire unhooked, but easier than when I replaced the water pump. So happy I did not need to move my washer out to get to the back screws....that was what I thought was going to be my biggest challenge. No moving!!! YAY!! Thanks so much!! (This saved me a bunch of $$$!)

Thank you for doing a video on this. I was washing my daughter's bed sheets this morning and the washer was running fine at first but then started making a hard banging noise and after my husband tried to fix it the noise got even louder and then he looked at it and it stopped working. I went to check it and it had rinsed the clothes but water got trapped in a mattress cover that was in there and it got caught under the agitator and was wrapped around it a bit so I dumped the water out and then tried to start it on the rinse cycle again to get the water to drain from the bottom of the washer and it wouldn't work and the lid wouldn't click when I closed it. I think this video would be very helpful as we have the exact same washer and dryer that was recorded in this video. I will say that in the description below the part you ordered is a number off from what you showed you were going to buy in the video. It got me confused but I am going to buy the part you suggested in the video. Thanks again!

Thanks for saving me from tearing apart my timer to clean the contacts, I double checked and the lid wasn't clicking but shoving a screwdriver in the slot moved the switch far enough to make it click (and let me finish this load lol). Double checking the part # when the load finishes and ordering a $19 switch that can be here tomorrow instead of what would've been a $250 used timer on ebay that would take 2 weeks ☺
    Thanks again!

I'm going to suggest (which the creator can't), but if you've gone this far, you can go ahead and just snip off the plug for the switch and hard-wire it together and work with a disabled lid-switch. It saves $4 on a generic part and up to $40 for some of the older genuine factory parts, plus it saves a load of time.
