The Most Daring Rescues of 2020

  • These heroes came to the rescue of others in 2020. A woman in Florida saved her neighbor from choking when he rang her doorbell for help. She performed the Heimlich maneuver and cleared his airway just in time. When an SUV plunged into a river in New Jersey, a lifeguard with one leg jumped into the water to save the driver. Lifeguards in Laguna Beach had to rescue a bride and groom who were swept into the water while taking their wedding photos. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more. #InsideEdition

      Exactly. The only thing that is going to save this world is if people shove their prejudices where the sun doesn't shine and everyone starts looking out for each other instead of battling each other. Tha crazy thing is that anyone who has helped someone in need or saved a life etc, they always feel good about themselves afterwards and they have the total respect from the person or people they helped, their families, loved ones and anyone who happens to witness what they had done. So it really is a Win Win Situation. America and the world needs to see and experience lots more of the compassion that we have just witnessed here.

    • @RainbowMama143
      @RainbowMama143 3 роки тому +2

      Ever since learning about the Bystander Effect, I’ve kept it in my mind to never assume others will help.
      While driving to my first day of a new job, I saw a car upside down on the side of the road with smoke or steam coming out of it. No one else was stopped or stopping, and I thought “maybe it didn’t just happen?” and “but I’ll be late to my first day on the job” and “someone else will stop” but I remembered the Bystander Effect and knew *I* had to be the one to stop. After I pulled over, 3 other vehicles did too. We got the woman out and I stayed with her until paramedics arrived (which, due to the confusing nature of the hwy interchange, took FORTY FIVE MINUTES).
      I was late to work, had mud on one shoe and leg, but it was worth it.

    A wreck happened in front of me back in 2020, and the front of one of the cars caught on fire shortly after it came to a stop. Myself and some others who had witnessed the crash quickly ran to the burning vehicle where there was a man, barely awake, in the front seat with his legs pinned between the seat and the dash. It was horrifying. If you’ve ever seen a car on fire, you know the fire spreads very quickly. We were unable to open the driver door (because it was damaged in the crash), but eventually he was pulled out through the passenger side door. He never could have made it out on his own, so it’s a miracle that there just happened to be people there at that time of night because the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames within a couple of minutes. The other vehicle had overturned, and people were trying to help that driver and keep him alert, but there was no way to get him out of the car. He was still alive when EMS got there, but he passed away at the scene shortly after he was put into the ambulance. It was a tragic and terrifying experience. 😔

    My dad and my mom were going to a wedding once. My mom left first and after a while so did my dad. On the way there he saw a car crash into another one and push of the road down a big hill. He said the car tumbled and flipped the whole way down then caught fire. He immediately stopped his car and ran down the hill with a fire extinguisher. He put out the fire first. He told me he thought the people in it where for sure dead. Once he got down to the car he tried to open the doors. They were stuck so he had to break them off. In the car were a woman and her daughter. The daughter had down syndrome but my dad didn't know so he thought she was just young. He took the woman's seat belt off and carried her out of the car. Next he went and got the girl. She was scared and started biting his hands out of fear, that's when he realized she had down syndrome. Once they were both out of the car he asked the woman if she could remember and phone numbers of friends and family. She gave him 2 numbers. A little while later a very pregnant lady and a taxi driver arrived. The girl who was still in shock said "He broke it." meaning he broke the door.The taxi driver thought she meant he crashed into them, so he asked my dad "Sir, did you push them off the road?" The woman said "No no no, if it weren't for him we would be gone." Once the ambulance came they were taken to a hospital. They didn't suffer any major injuries except for some bruises from the seat belts, a broken rib or two and a broken leg or something. Needless to say my dad was a hero!
