Its scary how you can go 25 years without hearing a specific instrumental and then hear it again and feel like it was only yesterday the last time your heard it. Nostalgia hitting me hard.
This was one of my favorite games. I swear, most of the best NES games came out in 87'. Of course, I was 8, at the time. I surely miss the 80's. We live in the next-gen era, but I certainly wouldn't mind going back. Those were the good ol' days.
My favorite stage to start from is "Ice Man". I just like playing that one first (sometimes wasting a life if things don't go too well with those foot-holders). The best in the game, I think is Bomb Man (#1) and Fire Man. I really like those designs.
Clayton Kirby They are hard as fuck. I have completed 2, on 1 I can't complete the first Wily level, this game doesn't have a save feature. The games are prettty good, I like the character designs, the music, the general idea, you feel awesome when you complete a level, but these games suffer from NES limitations and bad game design in MANY places.
kuribo04 The only way to get good at Mega Man games are to play them over and over again and keep practicing until you get good enough to complete that one stage. You'll notice that each time you get a Game Over in a stage, you make it a little bit farther then when you last died each time. That is the only way to get good and be able to beat the games. When I first played Mega Man 8 as a 3 year old kiddie, I was bad. But I kept playing over and over again and a year later, I was 4 years old. I played the first Dr. Wily Stage and then I couldn't beat it. I didn't have any other Mega Man games to try, except for Mega Man Zero 4 which I got when I was like 7. 8 years later, I'm now like a Mega Man master, and I could complete any game in the classic series easily without much effort. And that's how you get good at Mega Man games. Play them over and over again until you learn the stage and get good enough to continue on.
The sound effects go so well with this game. Everything just blends together so nicely. I especially love the sound of the boss' health generating at the start of each battle. Goosebumps
Ohh you are my HERO! :') I just to play this game when I was a child with my siblings and we never couldn't pass from the escena 17:39, It was so hard to go until there but nothing... nothing worked... And it becomes in a trauma for us... because you know, in that time if you die you lose everything and you should start again from! the beginning... But now more than 20 years later NOW I KNOW how to do it hahaha thank you so much ;)

Great run. You didn't even use the pause glitch against Yellow Devil or the final gauntlet. Very impressive. My friends and I used this channel to showcase our friend's run of Megaman and he did very horrible. Seeing such a good run of the whole game in half an hour is very refreshing after seeing so many lame deaths.
By far the toughest of the Megaman games on NES. All the other ones had little tricks that made them easier if you knew them, along with you Rush dog. This one, it was relentless. Try not doing the Elect-man weapon trick on Rockman in Dr Wily's castle stage 1, see how you fare. It only gets tougher form there in the Dr's castle.
This has got to be one of the hardest games i played as a kid.. i really would have loved it as it is clear that capcom really put some effort in creating this ( everything about it including graphics, gameplay and music were amazing for that time).. it was just so frustratingly hard..
Wow. This brings back some good memories. This was one hell of a hard game when it first came out. And it had some great music. The first three Mega Man games had the best music of the whole series in my opinion. Of course, when I found out about the select button cheat... well, the game was retardedly easy then. But I did beat it legitly first. I usually started with Cutman and then followed your order from there with Gutsman being last. But again, great times. Thanks for the memories.
I loved these MegaMan games as a kid. Part 1 was a bit more difficult than most, though, and not really my favorite. I may have to pull my Nintendo set out of the closet now. thanx for your great vids :)

A great game being ahead of it's time with an absolute great ending. Alltrough, i find those items you can use during gameplay just feel more like chsating.
Back in the 80s I had a childhood friend that talked about this game, but I never bothered renting it or finding out about it. Now after 30 years I decided it's time.
at the 15min, 14sec mark nice how the bot got stuck in the path. my jaw dropped at the end espically the score was over a million. in tribute to ron simmons, DAMN!!!!!!!. don't sell the game, the nes version is worth al ot of money. great gameplay for brining back those memories.
A great start to a legendary video game series when this gem came out in december 1987 i was in the 4th grade & i didn't discover this until 1991 or 1992(i think it was '91) when i played this for the 1st time but the Mega Man series altogether is a 5 star classic in my book.....

I didn't even know this game was called Megaman when I played it back in 2002(was 8yrs old) on my cousin's video game console. She was in high school and everyday I went to her place to play it during holidays and finally after countless sessions I got to the Dr Wily stage and I was like wtf when u defeat him like @27:05. So cliché and funny. In fact I only recently knew this was called Megaman after I saw an image of the blue helicopter robots during a search! Fun times this game!
I agree. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. The part in Iceman's level where there are those stupid floating platforms you have to jump across is compounded by the fact that if you get hit, you fall through them(this is the hardest part in the whole game, IMO). A rapid fire magnet beam would be EXTREMELY useful here. Too bad you can't do rapid fire on the original...it would have saved me alot of headaches.

Megaman 1 makes a lot of sense. Cutter blades cut electric man's wires... Ice man puts out fire man... bomb man blows up gutsman... this all makes sense. Megaman 2 also made sense to a degree and stuck with the basic elements...

I agree with you big time on this one. The first X games were good and, for the most part, all the NES ones were good but after that I lost alot of interest. They just didn't seem to have the same feel as the earlier ones do, in my opinion.
I missed playing this game !! I really love playing retro games! I remember this game in the current game that i am playing. Crusaders Quest is the game that i am talking about. The Game play is very far , but they the same in the graphics of the game. It a nice game and really worth my time. But nothing call beat childhood games like this one!

I've never seen the ending of any Mega Man game except for the 64 version. The ending for this one is awsome.

Used to have this game ( along other 15 games like Castlevania, Contra, Salamander etc ) Finished after weeks!

That thing is calles the Magnet Beam. It's an item you can pick up in Elecman stage when you got Gutsman's weapon.
